This is why I prefer to focus on the technology, especially any filed patents. No one has to trust my word, the patents are there in plain sight for everyone to read.

And so far, they are all worthless. I would not even use them to develop a new codec. It would be better to start from scratch. The fundamental error is the assumption that images contain a useful degree of self similarity but they do not.
