I have to fit in as much as I can into this post since I didn't realize that my responses made late last night were actually on eastern time and therefore used up over half my posts for today :P

So, with that said, yes… my belief and understanding is that many companies are going to both need and want these patents. MS needs LI in order to even operate in 33 other countries that they are currently banned from due to lack of intercept capabilities. This is why they tried to get their own patent and failed. The portfolio as a whole is a want/need in that it seems to control the world of telephony globally. These are not going to be just US patents… understand… these patents are to cover many many countries (the CC stated "currently" they had the UK, Canada, Brazil and one or two others, but that the "continuation patents" will cover the globe over the next 2 years.) They say that RBR is the basis of ALL VOiP technology and that most of the companies currently using VOiP technology are in breach of these patents (especially RBR). So between licensing and infringement, the potential revenue of these patents is astounding! This is what has me hanging on the edge of my seat.

Now, in regards to the new White Paper/Power Point/You Tube. I admit I was GREATLY disappointed in the quality of the power point. Honestly, I have seen better power points done by my children. My degree is design/marketing and I have to say they did an extremely poor job of promoting the true value of these patents in this particular WP. Some may say they didn't feel it was that important to make it look professional… but I beg to differ on that. If we're talking a buyout in the Billions, I would expect a better proposal than what they provided. Typos, poorly worded and formatted, and the graphics/design were horrendous! I mean, if they are trying to save a buck on marketing… heck… send the info my way and I'll do it up proper… free of charge! What they released was amateurish, at best, and a major let down. Maybe I just feel this way because design work is my forte, but I truly am left wondering at their ultimate purpose for this release, right now. All it looks like they accomplished, to me, was to send the message that they are not as close to a final deal as we all had hoped (and that they have a very poor marketer/designer). I honestly do not see how this particular WP benefitted or promoted the company any better than their previous WPs, which I thought were all quite well done IMO.

Anyway, that's my rant. I put in an email to Rich, we'll see if I get a response. I'm still all in, and not spooked to sell, by any means. But it would be nice if I could get some more positive perspectives on what I see as a very negative promotion.
