The global market for anti-counterfeiting is supposed to be an estimated trillion dollar problem for manufacturers. However, most manufacturers will only spend a tiny fraction of the manufacturing cost on protecting the product from counterfeiters. So the market for anti-couterfeiting solutions may only be a fraction of a percent of the problem. But it's still big. But it is also very complex. Can S-DNA and the other technologies on the market address the problem effectively? Yes and no - I addressed some of that in my previous post. SDNA-class technologies are perfect for some applications, useless for others. It is a very specific market and application match - not universally suitable.

I do think that no one really knows how the markets will respond to any of these technologies. The only true measuring stick is sales - and repeat & expansion sales - to major credible users. However, most Fortune 500 users will not allow their names to be published as users - for the very same reasons they are buying the technology.

The market truly is speculative for these types of technologies at this point. I think unless one of them is acquired by a large, credible organization that can provide a stable marketing and management platform, the technology will never flourish and always offer a significant risk to investors. The micro-firms that have shepharded the technologies in the past - and the present - are just not suitable for a global rollout.
