The first would be the fashion industry. It is a no brainer. Smoother silk stronger silk etc will sell.I think Kim has more than one company interested in fabric made from MS
The second is the tech industry. It is not just silk. It is silk spun and woven in a way to make it very strong.
If a kevlar vest was woven like a bed sheet it would not stop a bullet.
That is where warwick comes in. They are trying to weave it into a fabric that can be used in the high tech industry. They also have the connections. It will take a couple of years to find the best way and best uses.
Warwick knows that part of the business well.
They are the "buyer" for the high tech industry. The weave and fabric prototypes would cost Kim a small fortune (call it $2M)
So Warwick is paying $2m (via donation)And Kim is supplying the silk also via donation.
In the end when they make something they will both be paid for the service or product supplied.
The third buyer is the company out there that wants something specific. Like a auto manufacture that will buy BR if Kim can supply it within a set of parameters.
I would also say Kim has probably already produced a ton. But he is not yet up to producing a ton a month.
My guess is the next hatch should be able to produce it. It depends on how long the breeding cycle is. Since we dont know the refrigeration time we dont know the cycle. I would think it should be up to speed soon.
I think the first ten tons are spoken for and I am pretty sure that by the time they have sold that ten they will have orders 50 more.
