Why was the mine abandoned? Well because WWII happened, then they had the marcos administration which was corrupt and so was every subsequent leader and then the bassackwards government put an end to mining by placing restrictions on it. There are probably thousands of abandoned mines in the philippines. according to paim they have bought several small "mom and pop" mines....the story at XYZ site is they found a new vien branching out from the mine that was previously undiscovered

When GMA the new president was elected she lifted the ban, PAIM was founded shortly after the ban and they were granted the 20 hectares XYZ mining site. They did core samples, drilled 8 holes and hit solid gold on 3 of them. PAIM stated in the 211 that the government will recieve between 1-3% of all profits from the mines.

The philippines sits on tectonic plates which have pushed up millions of tons of precious metals and gems that have never been mined. Mostly due to unstability in the government and lack of investors willing to take a chance. They have both a communist insurgency in the north which started in the 70's and a moslem insurgency which has been ongoing for just as long in the southern PI.

And yes there is a large rumor about a large treasure of gold the japanese supposedly left in the philippines after general mcauthur drove the japs out of the philippines in WWII. A lot of filipinos think that is why there is a US presence in the PI right now, george bush wants to find the gold! lmao this is just a rumor and is false, there is no gold from the japanese...this rumor is even believed by the ruling elite and politicians in the country, its sad...if you read the chat that is what the "Yamamusta" reference was about
