For all of the more than twenty years that I lived and worked in Arabia and the Far East I found the the disparate nature of the various products, services, and personnel of local companies to be both astonishing and fascinating to one with traditional (Western) thoughts on business and its organization. Lingerie and auto parts, and home construction and Cray supercomputers are two examples that come to mind.

The success of a Saudi company is mostly due to its ability to move products and people in and out of various countries, and its ability to obtain government approval for its operations. Products, expertise, and personnel can be easily obtained. You don't need twenty years experience in an area if you can bring in an entire staff and management team to do the job. That happens every day in these countries.

Al-Jazira is certainly a well known name in Saudi Business. Their success, from our perspective, will depend more on their commitment to our objectives than whether they have spent much time supporting the medical community.
