"If, pre-rs, I have 100 shares and the stock goes up $1 then I make $100. But post-rs I now make $10. The incentive to stay vested long term is greatly diminished"
If a stock makes a 10% move it doesn't matter. In your example let's put a price on it... say $10...
So you own 100 shares of a $10 stock ($1000)... it goes up a buck (10%)... you've made $100
post R/S
So you own 10 shares of a $100 stock ($1000)... it goes up 10% ($10)... you've made $100
A 10% move is a 10% move whether it's a $1, $10, or $100 stock
