Uh, yofal

"This is the future of digital media. Content a la carte. That is the magic. That is the revolution."

Glad some people are "discovering" what I've been writing for years. Obviously, since this is exactly what I was writing for years now, I agree!

"Apple could bring it to the living room."

Again, exactly what I've been saying. And exactly the subject I was addressing when I got roni's big "Huh" - presumably for failing to review this only in the narrow niche of content on iPod. The operative word in that sentence is "could".

"What company could deliver a better "store" and interactive UI? And combine it with integrated hardware?"

That's three questions. On the first - who could deliver the best store, my vote is with Apple. On the second - who could deliver the best interactive UI - that's TiVo first, a bunch of others second, and Apple in last place at this point because it hasn't even arrived at the ballpark yet. On the third - combine the interactive UI with integrated hardware - again, TiVo first, a bunch of others second and Apple just now showing up at the ballpark.

But the bigger point, is that if Apple's going to capture this "future of digital media," it's going to do it via delivery of the media directly to the primary place it is consumed, and it is going to make delivery to hardware specifically designed for the task and which carries a price tag competitive relative to the task.

I've been talking bullishly about this being a potential destiny for Apple of gi-normous proportion for a long time now. At this point, I'm just waiting patiently for them to get this silly kludge stage out of the way and get on with the real deal.
