Apple wants to sell cutting edge technology not some dead end P4 architecture that Mikey McDell will milk the masses for.

The only thing cutting edge about Apple's current range are the case designs, and perhaps some of the work needed in order to get current technology to work with them.

I'm NOT suggesting that Apple stops differentiating it's products. My current G4 tower looks good, has 4 drive bays and 2 optical drive bays. Also very practical - built in handles, and when I've shown PC users how easy it is to access the innards they've been amazed.

What's wrong with milking the masses BTW? Apple are doing it well enough with the iPod.
