Fred Couples was using Anatabloc and benefiting from its inflammation lowering properties well before he became an ambassador for product. He got in touch with Star Scientific to tell them what it has been doing for him. A relationship was struck and he was, and still is, enthusiastically involved with Anatabloc and the company.
What ever DEAL came out of this is pure speculation on anyone's part. It still remains that Fred approached STAR, not the other way around.
This is the same way Nancy Lopes became involved as an ambassador. She was completely taken with Anatabloc in what it is doing for her.
Before anything else, it is ANATABLOC that brought them to the company!
