I spoke with the following senators about fannie, while in Washington DC:

Senator Kirk: His office seemed convinced the bill will pass, not because the bill is a good bill, but because "I did not know what was going on (in the past with fannie)". She explained that, Under Barney Frank, (a powerful senator) the Fannie mae lobbyists were rude and would not let other lobbyists in the door. (Barney Frank was sleeping with an executive of Fannie Mae, according to Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barney_Frank

So, while being "protected" by Barney Frank, fannie mae lobbyists made many senators angry...angry enough to kill fannie and Freddie.
The result was that many congress and senators were very angry with Fannie Mae, and vowed to "Kill Fannie and Freddie". The "Kill FAnnie Bills" are more about revenge than about shareholders, homeowners, or taxpayers.

Senator Vitter: Senator Vitter was "non committal".

Senator Portman: I spoke with Rob Portman, and had a picture taken with him. I may consider posting this picture when it comes from his office. Mr. Portman listened when I explained the bills would eliminate some Veterans benefits, specifically the "SAH" (Special Adaptions for Housing) benefits. These benefits are for severely disabled Veterans who need things like wheel chair ramps and a wider bathroom door. See Title 5, "Veterans Housing Matters", here:

Mr. Portman's staff thanked me for my service.
