It's far from clear that the product is good at marketable bitrates.

When asked at what bitrate the quality of the video stream through NP-1 exceeds that of 1080p Blu-Ray, their only response is that any bitrate for 4K is obviously better, because there are more pixels.

This response is so deceptive and so blatantly disingenuous that it can't be dismissed as mere ignorance, not coming from an officer of the company.

The product is ok but the repeated failure to meet deadlines is a massive weight on this ship.

It's worse that that, because their whole value proposition to investors is that they're in the market first, that they have the element of surprise, that they can establish a beachhead and triumph over time through superior execution.

The stated reason for the delay? It's like the allies deciding they couldn't land at Normandy because the nifty new uniforms came in, so they recalled the fleet and postponed D-Day so everyone could be wearing them.

Their explanation is such a monumentally poor business decision that it's actually easier to believe that NP-1 has never been mass-produced at all, and they're stringing people along until they can build a next-generation product that actually might have a chance of achieving better bitrates.

Trying to break in a market with this shoddy business plan is never good.
