So what does one do when the "magical" new product that was pitched to these investors as being commercially launched over two years ago still no where to be found?

I'd claim that "we decided to beta test" the product before actually launching it, but "we can't disclose which hospitals have the beta units because it's all top secret." Who wouldn't believe that? LOL
