Horizon’s mission is to help revitalize American oilfields using proprietary, proven and specific techniques. A a set of techniques is used to stimulate and extract remaining oil from previously drilled reservoirs where primary and secondary extraction methods have taken place. Industry recovers around 35% of oil from reservoirs. The rest remains trapped in the rock. These techniques have proven worthwhile in several areas of the United States, including Utah, Texas and Mississippi.

Three major categories of oil recovery have been found to be commercially successful. These are thermal recovery, gas injection and chemical injection. Each field must be heavily evaluated to determine which type of technique will work best on the reservoir.

Waterflooding is the use of water injection to increase the production from oil reservoirs. The use of water to increase oil production is known as “secondary recovery” and typically follows “primary production,” which uses the reservoir’s natural energy (fluid and rock expansion, solution-gas drive, gravity drainage, and aquifer influx) to produce oil.
