You do realize that to make a movie you have to drum up a lot of money?

It takes millions of dollars to make a large screen movie. All the cast/crew/advertising/hotels/transportation/food/etc...

They are not going to take the risk that it would essentially be a failure. That rarely happens in the industry for actors to fully fund projects and thats why they go out promoting themselves and to potential investors in obtaining financing.
