TransGlobe Energy Corporation Announces Successful Development Well in Yemen

CALGARY, Alberta--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 6, 2006--TransGlobe Energy Corporation (TSX:TGL - News; AMEX:TGA - News; "TransGlobe" or the "Company") is pleased to announce another successful horizontal development well on Block S-1 in the Republic of Yemen.

An Nagyah #20 was completed as a producing Lam A oil well after flowing at a stabilized rate of 2,992 barrels of light (43 degree API) oil per day and 1,602 thousand cubic feet of gas per day on a 48/64 inch choke. The well commenced drilling on February 7, 2006 and reached a total depth of 1,985 meters, with a 754 meter horizontal section. The An Nagyah #18 well is connected to the An Nagyah facilities with a temporary pipeline to enable production to continue until a permanent flow line is constructed.
The drilling rig is now moving to the next drilling location at An Nagyah #21. The An Nagyah #21 well is a horizontal development well in the Lower Lam B reservoir. The Lower Lam B formation is found below the main Lam A producing horizon in the An Nagyah field.
