More on Origami

When announced this Thursday at CEBIT, Microsoft will spend a mere "30 seconds" discussing Origami; moreover, they have developed "no new hardware" for the project. Rather, Microsoft will leave the talking to Intel and Samsung, which announce a first model of whatever 'Origami' actually is; see http://handhelds.engadget.com/2006/03/03/origami-runs-on-intel-and-samsung-hardw are/

That, however, is no death knell for Transmeta. One source who has peered beyond the curtain and is under NDA confirms that there will be MULTIPLE MODELS of the version 1 Origami device(s); see http://www.gottabemobile.com/ChrisPirillo8217sDanceAroundOrigami.aspx

Any guess as to which chips will be used in other V1 models? If only we could confirm that someone other than Intel has been working with Microsoft for the past year....

One final thought for the board: Microsoft has been uncharacterstically quiet about the whole Origami project, which some see as a deliberate Apple impression while others see genuine secrecy. As for the "no new hardware" bit, doesn't that really mean no new announced hardware? If you were Microsoft and you were preparing an alternate Origami device that would enter a lucrative market and compete directly against an industry giant (let's say, for example, SONY), maybe you would be uncharacteristically quiet? XBoyPSP, anyone?
