The hurdle I see is in implementation. Take me for example. I'm up in Maine and after sign up, there is only a handful of women in relatively broad proximity. So, this needs to be implemented broadly and fast, because if I download the app and find hardly anyone to choose from, then I might think it's bogus. So marketing wise, it's advantageous to hit locations with a campaign to create as many users in a very short window of time, so that people using it for mate selection can have a wide range to choose from.

I wholly believe in the concept and the unbelievable potential of ties to local businesses, possibly in form of discounts, listed on the proximity software (gps). Scoring a referral for drumming up business might be a marketing tactic.
