JPM Post-Mortem: Best and Worst Webcasts

I didn’t listen to every webcast, of course, but I heard a lot of them.

Notably impressive (IMO) were VRTX, because they had Kurt Graves speaking instead of John Alam; IDIX, because they had new stuff to talk about in HCV; and GILD, because they are always good.

Notably unimpressive (IMO) were BFRM, because their marketing data vis-à-vis Radiesse didn’t make sense; HSP, because the talk was long and filled with clichés; and GSK, because JP Garnier was angry and defensive and did not have his usual wit.

SIRT gave a talk that was in a class by itself—more academic than businesslike. My wife, Nancy, who used to work in biotech, said it reminded her of the “chalk talks” by Harvard professors who were on the SAB’s of some of the companies she worked for.

Other opinions welcome.
