I'm waiting for the days when 5 million is average
Oilbull, what is the availability of drilling rigs in the area? I remember the last time crude prices headed up like this it was a very long wait to get a rig, months if not more than a year.
Yes tigre, that is what I was referring to in my reply to gulagula. We should know if the deal has been completed by mid March. And yes they should be up to date on filings by the end of this week. So I gave them a weeks leeway. What I did forget to mention to gulagula was "A reserve study is being conducted by Ryder Scott Consultants LLC and a summary of that study and related documents from the agreement will be published upon closing of the transaction in March 2011."
Still the basic answer to gulagula's question is yes, there are more filings in the works.
Yes, there are more filings in the works. They should be up to date by the middle of the month. We should also know the progress on the acquisition by then.
flaflyersfan, you still around? I'd thought you'd have given up on them years ago.
If you go to their facebook page they say they are excited, but can't tell us about what at this time.
rubberworm, comas can make a difference which I'm sure level4 meant. Yes Yukon, and Slim...
There is always, "buy the rumor, sell the news". Some folks stick to that religiously. There are also those of us who are seriously considering selling at least some on a 25% pullback to make sure we get at least our original investment back.
Don't forget, the main players in DNR are already positioned to make a killing when ARET stock price rises.
"ARET doesn't waste money on press releases," I should have added "unless there is worthwhile news to release"!!!
YukonKing, was there an I on the end of COG? My TDameritrade account doesn't show the ticker symbol because it doesn't trade.
dogface63, if your asking about ARET they have a subsidiary called Colorado Oil and Gas.
Slim, you are correct that the share price is not based on their $50~ thousand a quarter income. It is based on the appearance that they are following through with their plan to become fully reporting, move to the BB, and buy the wells.
I too have been concerned through this rise in price that profit taking by those of us who have held since very low prices will begin. The trading volume so far has not reflected a level that could absorb the millions of shares outstanding that have, I presume, an acquisition cost of below 2 cents.
Slim, yes this is what I was referring to
Current Position February 2011
Arête Industries, Inc. is currently following the path it put forth in April 2009. We are engaged in accomplishing our 4 goals:
1. The cash flow purchase of two existing oil and gas companies.
2. The completion of all past and current filings.
3. Pursuit of other opportunities that meet our strategic plans.
4. Creating value for our shareholders.
We will give updates when appropriate while following public and company guidelines and policies.
Slim, as far as not paying for PRs when there is little to report, that is what I was told by the CEO of another company. He had told me that info would be out in sec filings and assumed the same here. They probably will put out PRs before they publish a newsletter. That does not mean that the main source of info comes from filings at this time, which should be up to date within a month.
The fact that they are getting up to date with filings is an indication that they are following through with their plan which includes buying the wells.
Slimpickens, they own a gas pipeline. They are acquiring wells, gas and oil.
Slimpickens, ARET doesn't waste money on press releases, go to there website for info.
rockafella88, the shares must be in tight hands because they obviously aren't being traded.
Hopefully they are waiting for greater demand for the shares so as to not cause the price to fall precipitously.
Oilbull, this from an old 10K is what has been weighing on my mind.
"The Company has relied upon the issuance of shares of its common and preferred
stock, and options to purchase its common stock and preferred stock to fund much
of the Company's operations."
I was just concerned how many shares might still be in the hands of those waiting to cash in to get paid for services rendered. I suppose if they held them this long and hadn't traded them right away they may be thinking along the same lines we are.
As long as everyone holds off on dumping their shares bigtime until there is enough buying volume to absorb them we'll be ok. My concern is that when we hit a certain number like .10 people, like some of us who have held this for 7 years, will put half their shares on sell orders and we will drop back. There are half a billion shares outstanding. The volume so far on this rise does not reflect typical trading for a stock with so many shares outstanding.
I think the concern is for the resistance at .10. I'd thought about selling some there, make some money back for the 7 years I've been holding, but there is going to have to be significantly more volume than we've been seeing.
New 5 year high .073. Of course the day it did hit .10 back then it was so short you didn't even know it happened and then it was back to normal.
I still think this volume is thin for the number of shares out there. People have held all this time and they aren't letting go cheaply.
"Ratings on D N R Oil & Gas Inc in Centennial
was rated as good by a Centennial citizen."
BigBaboon, I hope you're right!!!
Couple of days around 6 then jump 2 cents like the end of last week.
oilbull, I've been aware of the plan since its inception years ago. It did worry me when they weren't able to follow through with it a couple of years ago. That was why I didn't buy any more stock.
My point is that there are hundreds of millions of shares outstanding. There have been many shares issued for payment of services. Unless all those shares got traded years ago some of those folks are showing amazing restraint at not cashing in yet.
Maybe you folks have already discussed this but this seems to still be awfully thinly traded for as many shares outstanding as there are. Methinks many holders of this stock are not ready to let go at even 6 cents. Do you suppose they have a sixth sense about it?
That's what buying the pipeline years ago was about. They needed to get some cash flow and pay off some debts, especially the tax lien, so they could merge with or get financing to acquire the rest of DNR. At least that is what they said back then. I guess they are opting for the latter now.
Oilbull, this company appears to be making such a turnaround from a few years ago. I have to admit it has been hard for me to believe. Averaged down years ago at .008. Shoulda, coulda, wish I'd done it again last time we were there. As I said it has been hard for me to believe, but I have a few shares to make some money on. I wonder what they will do about our COG shares?
If I remember correctly when they acquired the pipeline they said they needed to get some cash flow and settle some debts like the withholding tax so they could merge.
I first got in at 3 cents...about 6 years ago. averaged down some then quit but held when things looked so bleak. Of course now I wish I'd averaged down some more but with this company's history I figured leaving what I had in it on the table was enough of a gamble for me. I'll be happy with what I've got and ride it a while longer
That's what hurt them a few years ago, the drop in oil and especially gas prices.
'onebbqman', some of us have been in ARET for a very long time and have had many disappointments here. I did refrain from posting a snide comment a little while ago here as I am renewing my optimism for this company one more (last?) time.
'tmcdandihub', I've owned a couple hundred thousand shares for 7 years now, plus my COG shares. No one seems to post on the Yahoo board anymore so I have also just started started reading this one.
I guess I'll have to start checking in here. No one posts on the Yahoo board anymore. I've held this stock for 6 years and am finally starting to believe the current management might make something of this company.
According to the PR I read we still have the ink.
I forgot to add it is nice to be able to edit posts after you hit the button. I don't remember if I ever posted on this board but have on several other IHUB boards.
Ron, I thought they were redoing the books for the period the other auditor did them because they couldn't submit the K without certification of that work. That would seem to qualify as an sec requirement to me.
"coupled with the low toxicity of Oncophage, makes it a good candidate for a Phase III trial"(s)
Garo has indicated the possibility and I would like to see PIIIs in multiple indications. The argument could be made that an HSP is an HSP no matter what type of cancer cell it comes from. It would take a lot of money, great partners, and would catapult AGEN to the forefront.
