NAII - A few questions
-I'm concerned about inventories. They generated $2.5 MM in 3Q earnings but burned $1.8 million in cash. Most of this was due to ballooning inventories. Any thoughts?
-50% of sales from a single customer? Who is it?
-What’s happened with the Creative Compounds lawsuit? Aren’t you guys concerned about all of these lawsuits? Litigation expense is going to be a big problem going forward.
Thank you for finding me on every board I've posted on and pimping TRQ some more. Then you send me a PM saying "pimpin ain't easy" and then block me from sending a reply. Nice one!
Another potential buyer to add to the list now...Goldcorp just took a 12.5% stake in Auryn Resources at a 20% premium to Friday's close. I believe this is the first interest in the Nunavut for Goldcorp (correct me if I'm wrong). Auryn seems primarily focused on Committee Bay in Nunavut (where they are doing most drilling in 2017) and Homestake Ridge (in British Columbia).
You sure are pumping this one huh? I think you've posted 190 of the last 200 posts on TRQ in the last two weeks.
I'm not sure why you think you need to pimp it so bad. It's a real company, with a great asset, and an even better #1 shareholder. I know the Sailingstone guys personally, one of them really well, and those guys know their stuff.
Do everyone a favor and stop pimping it. Guys on message boards aren't going to make a difference anyway.
On the flip side though, Sabina's project looks way better on an IRR and NPV basis than the Meliadine project from AEM (after-tax IRR of ~9% for Meliadine vs. Back River at 24% with 2x the NPV. It could be a nice buy vs. build scenario.
That's not a great reason. If you told me that AEM has a mine next door to Sabina and a ton of spare milling capacity at that mine, then I'd say that they were an excellent candidate for AEM. I think it's more likely that someone like a TMAC would acquire Sabina.
It does look like a decent project though. You gotta love those grades!
Totally agree R59...you gotta buy those kind of stocks when the PE is high, not low.
I would agree with you on this one. Share price minimum doesn't work everywhere.
Why would AEM buy them?
At these uranium prices, I don't think uranium is something I'm interested in selling. It also hasn't moved nearly as much as some of the copper plays I have that are up 75%-100% in the last 2-3 months. Gold stocks are also ripping (but I'm not a big gold bug, so I keep my exposure pretty low in gold).
Mining doing very well today (and yesterday).
As I've mentioned before mining is my specialty. Things are going super well today, and I don't see any great reasons for it. Copper stocks especially are doing well, even though last I checked copper prices are down this morning. I'm definitely itching to sell something.
Nice trades nelson.
Agree what some have said on pbox...it's too early to own it until they at least set the meeting date.
Since SSK is posting returns, I'll post mine for the year for my hard asset portfolio. I started this portfolio a couple of months before I left my job as an equity analyst. As I try to figure out what to do with the next stage of my life, I'm considering starting a resources focused fund, similar to what T Rowe Price and Sailingstone have done (the two largest resources-focused equity funds in the US). I'm not sure if any of you are on LinkedIn, but I update the returns info each month (you can look me up there). I'll also update it on my new website when I start my newsletter in a couple of weeks.
Performance as of 12/31/16 (since inception - December 3, 2015):
BHAP - 68.5%
DJ Global Equity Resource Scarcity Index - 28.0%
DJ Global Equity Commodity 100 Index - 21.0%
S&P Global Natural Resources ETF - 25.3%
S&P 500 - 9.2%
2016 performance:
BHAP - 71.2%
DJ Global Equity Resource Scarcity Index - 33.8%
DJ Global Equity Commodity 100 Index - 25.5%
S&P Global Natural Resources ETF - 30.1%
S&P 500 - 12.0%
The Beigle Hard Asset Portfolio (BHAP) is a portfolio that began on December 3, 2015 that invests in producers, suppliers, and service providers to the natural resources industry. The portfolio invests across a wide range of market caps and commodities and is managed by Jonathan Beigle. The portfolio has produced excellent results in its first full year and has more than doubled the returns of its benchmarks.
I love that call R59! I'm a big dry bulk fan.
There are some decent small uranium juniors out there that you can buy. Denison Mines and Fission (most popular juniors, Uranium Resources (nice PE involvement with RCF), and GoviEx Uranium (Sprott is a big holder).
Fission and Denison are definitely the closest to production, but I'm not a huge fan of uranium stocks right now. I think it's going to be a couple of years still before uranium prices rebound. Because (IMO) uranium mines are the hardest mines to build, the capacity keeps coming long after the price declines. There are still a couple of mines coming on line even though prices peaked in 2011 and the prospects for profitability for these mines hasn't been good since 2013. I think the capacity additions will end in 2017, but inventories will continue to build for a while (maybe 2019). At that point (probably 2020-2021) inventories should start to decline and prices should begin to rebound.
With that said, I do own some CCJ because the thing is just spitting out tons of cash flow, even at these low prices. When the market rebounds, they're going to be a big beneficiary (but probably won't go up as much in % as the juniors mentioned above).
MDT - Medtronic - I don’t normally own many megacaps like this (and I’m definitely not a healthcare expert), but I want some healthcare exposure right now because I’m anticipating a rebound in the sector. It's a very high quality company that has been beaten up pretty hard over the last 6 months. The stock has been holding $71-$72 for a while now. I’d buy more if it broke through that level into the low $60s. It’s probably a relative outperformer in case of a big market pullback as well.
It has a 2.3% dividend yield and is trading at 15.5x fiscal 2017 non-GAAP earnings (fiscal year ends in April). The company has been growing faster than its markets, but it’ll be important to see if this continues as these new products roll out.
Earnings were a disappointment in 2Q due to timing issues as they wait for new products to roll out.
Insiders have been buying.
I think the stock can go into the mid 90s in the next year. I bought a 4% position at $71.60.
I think biotech is an interesting spot to be in right now. I've never owned much in the space, but the sector has been so beaten down I need to start looking. Anybody have any favorite biotech stocks?
It had nothing to do with it. I had a passion for investing and used that and my degree in finance to get my job.
Hey guys! It's been a long time since I've posted to Ihub, but I'm back for the time being. My previous job didn't allow me to post on message boards, but I'm done with that now. It's good to see some familiar faces like Bobwins, Skillz, and KiK.
For those who don't know me (or remember me), I was one of the first users of Ihub (Fatt Matt was a friend in high school) and was a pretty regular poster back in the day. I then landed a job as an equity analyst and that meant the message board posts had to stop.
I quit my job in January in order to go back to school and get a Masters in Mining Engineering & Management. I'm currently looking for a new job (either doing mining M&A or working for a mining-focused PE fund), but in the mean time I'm going to start a new website/newsletter focused on small cap mining stocks. The first recommendation will be coming in January.
I heard this was the board where everyone has migrated to that I remember from before (I think I recognize all of the names!). I look forward to getting back into the swing of things here on IHub.
Yes it was...I closed on the house I was referring to (a foreclosure) on December 1, 2011. Within 1-2 months things started to improve. I got a 20.1% cash on cash return on the house in 2015 (2016 is going to end a little lower), but that doesn't include price appreciation. In the 5 years since then, I'm pretty sure I could sell the house for 50% more than I paid for it. I actually had one of our regular renters ask us a couple months ago if I'd consider selling to them. I told them no because I need the diversification from my concentrated mining portfolio and I don't think I could ever find that good of a deal again.
Since then, we bought a short sale and another foreclosure in 2014 and 2015 respectively, and both are doing quite well (both are 15+% cash on cash returns.
I've always said though that the first house that we bought was the best financial decision I ever made.

I'm with you dick. I'm looking to diversify into a vacation rental in FL where local prices are down 65%. I think I can get almost a 15% yield on it and wait for prices to slowly go back up as I build more equity in the home.
Today may not be the absolute bottom in home prices, but if you buy now, you'll probably be sitting pretty ~10 years from now. You can't expect to flip houses for 25% gains anymore, but if you can get a yield and wait for the housing market to turn...eventually you'll make money...and potentially alot of it!

Just wait until earnings come out! My little baby of 3 years is finally getting to be a big winner.

I honestly don't see them getting any more vocal. I've spoken to management (CEO 2x and CFO once) and I doubt they plan to change anything. I think the most likely long-term outcome is a management buy out. It makes the most sense.
I'm not sure if anyone still reads this board, but I thought I'd post this here since every time I try to post on talkzilla it tells me the message is blank (when it's really not).
I was the victim of a hit-and-run today. I was at the gym and someone hit my car in the parking lot. There isn't a ton of damage, but I think I need to fix it. The driver's-side fender is dented, probably 8-10 inches long, and the paint is chipped. I've called Geico, but it isn't worth making a claim because we have a $1k deductible and no information from the person that hit us.
Any suggestions about what I should do? The dent looks like it could be popped out (any suggestions would be helpful), but I don't know what to do about the paint. With our harsh winters I need to get this taken care of ASAP.
It only took 6 years!
Congrats guys. I sold all of mine at 1.50. I'm surprised to see it trading above $1.50, but I don't think they'll get another offer.
I'm glad to finally be out of this thing! I even made some money!
Yeah, I read that too, and I thought the same thing...interesting.
I came away confused after reading it. At first, it sounded good and then it just sounded like management was lining their pockets some more. I don't know...we'll see.
No I didn't, and I'm pretty ticked off about it.
I was just thinking today that it was strange that I haven't seen any of the filings lately show up in my email.
VVDL sounds like a good deal, but I would have liked to see a proxy filed for it. 400,000 shares traded may be a holdup. Let me know how it goes so I can add it to the IBox.

I'm a total slacker. I figured it out yesterday afternoon that I forgot the British was this week. Things have been pretty busy since our first baby was born the day of the final round of the open.
I'll be back for the PGA.
Quick question...
When we trade a double down, can we split it between two new stocks?
Has anyone bought property at a foreclosure auction? Just an update on my month auction checks, there was a nice lot that sold for $1,100 and another that sold for $6,000 both (on my quick research are probably worth closer to $30k-$50k.
My baby is born (and she's beautiful). Now I can get a little mroe serious about this stuff and think about buying something after Dec 1 when the first time homebuyer incentive goes away.
That's definitely right dick...especially with mortgage rates so low.
