I went to a Grateful Dead show up in Glens Falls many moons ago is that near Hudson Falls? Great bowling by your kid.
Haven't been around much. Hopefully, everyone is having a good new year so far.
CAT is going higher (I hope)- sorry Pants!
Pros will be out shopping for christmas. Volume should be light exp the following week.
Lucky seven on Monday? Next week is options expiration - lots of witching.
Hope you're making some coin with your stellar calls.
Fireworks or fizzle?
Good points. My luck I would lose the damn things if I sewed them in my clothes!
Platinum might be a profitable play with increased car sales. :)
Heard someone say that gold was good in deflationary environments - even better than in inflationary times. I expect that would be true as long as gold wasn't being used as a source of funds.
I agree, Newly, that said, do you see upside for diamonds in the future? Do they have to be round (most popular)with minimim size and quality specs? Is insurance too expensive?
Anyone have experience with diamonds as an investment and then trying to sell a stone? Any thoughts on where diamond prices could go in the future?
Could be a wild close with shorts covering.
Thought this was interesting. Some positive news despite the gloom of TXN, etc.

Trading today in AAPL is tempering my bullishness.
Agreement sometime tonight in Europe = gap up open? Wonder about those China numbers. It seems we always have meetings in Europe and Chinese numbers to worry about.
Zab, did you see DANG today? I still have a tiny position in that and RENN, ostensibly to watch them, but have done a lousy job of it.
You called it earlier. Nice job!
When I saw the futures last night I thought we could get a big gap up open today, but whatever the rumor was last night didn't hold. Repeat?
G20 considering IMF lending program. Whee!
COTH? Tomorrow's close will be very interesting I think. China #s and as always Europe!
It doesn't help when the big part of the move for the day is overnight.
So much for the downward bias. Looks like the market is going higher into the close. Half a pt cut for tomorrow?
We were getting a little strength, but then another round of S&P downgrade stuff (BNP Paribas and EU Bonds)knocked it down. So I guess we just sit and spin here with a downward bias.
I'll join the chorus singing joy that Zab and Lee are back and doing fine
Pujols of the patch, that's you Canni!
<<Shasta, with all that money you make on ISRG I am surprised you come here at all any more. :^)>>
I wish it were true. Shoulda woulda coulda story. If I did the Fabian method, I would be sitting pretty. Instead all my trades got be about even. No kidding. That one just got away from me and didn't chase. My bad.
I dropped into Joe's thread last night. He has a lot of good info there and the folks are nice. Just got out of the habit of going over I guess.
It looks as if our most prolific posters have disappeared for various reasons. Zab is on the disabled list, hopefully he is well on the mend and will be in top form soon. Lee, supposedly out due to computer hell, has probably been busy with all those hookers he has been talking about (or Suzy got him hard with that frying pan). Fabian is no doubt busy carrying those sheep to the opposite sides of the barn - I have an image of Sisyphus here - punishment for those impure thoughts he has of Newly. Newly, by the way, must be busy driving to the various states of the union that have no sales tax, so she can finish her Christmas shopping. Pantmaker and his ankle biter appears to have called a truce. Bruce is watching the weather for us all and Dan still posts once in awhile when he isn't counting his gold coins. Canni got tired of playing with himself, I mean playing by himself and left for more lively entertainment. Guz is out enjoying her second spring. Maybe Gtober will start posting again until next spring. I never have much to say and I wish I could be more enlightening.
As far as the market is concerned I think December will be on the upturn but after that it is a scarey world.
Well, it didn't take me much time to get through the posts, not that I remember any of them. Family issues and travel kept me away. Father-in-law goes for his third surgery tomorrow. If he went to Sloan Kettering to begin with this might have been avoided.
Markets in consolidation phase after the WEds gains. I thought we would have more upside follow though, but folks are still scared.
I believe there is SPIC protection on brokerage accounts up to $500,000 I think, including $100,000 for cash. Over that and you are subject to the insurer the brokerage might have in place. The only problem I would see is not being able to access your account in a timely fashion. Can't discuss more as I should be packing....
I'm surprised we haven't gotten much of a short covering rally yet.
Did the same headline cross about Fitch? Unreal.
Yup, works for me.

Today, SPX in gold terms at March ’09 lows
By Peter Boockvar - November 17th, 2011, 11:15AM I’ve done this analysis before in the past and while most people look at the stock market strictly in nominal terms, I still believe it’s always important to have perspective in terms of its value in other currencies. With the move lower in gold (another currency) today to a two week low and the S&P’s around 1235 after yesterday’s selloff, the S&P 500 priced in gold terms is at the exact same level seen on March 6, 2009 when the SPX cash hit 666 intraday. Then, one ounce of gold bought 1.41 times the SPX and today it does as well. Money printing and the debasement of fiat currencies can cover up many ills and make things look better than they really are in terms of purchasing power

I would think today, but Naz is looking mighty weak yet.
I see some green. Did Europe close early? ;)
Looks like you were the only one brave enough to buy a ticket on the bus! Glad it worked out for you. I was thinking last night I wish I had thought of trying calls....
WOW RMBS more than a 50% haircut. Did it really trade at $4?
Not bad for an oops!
Old Zeev play, RMB$, halted news pending along with MU. Blast from the past.
Grand Slam! and I don't mean the breakfast.
VIX seems elevated still.
You are a class act. Nice trade too!
Forget Dylan, sounds like you are channeling Joey Ramone --- I want to be sedated.....
