ATryn is a biologic drug, like ProCrit (EPO), Genotropin (HGH), Lantus (insulin), Byetta (incretin mimetic) or any of the antibodies like Tysabri. Most of these also are natural in the body, but because they are produced elsewhere and used to treat a condition, they are drugs. This is the important market of drugs that you speak of.
In the near future, companies that want to develop biologic drugs are going to have to make a decision, use fermentation, or use transgenics animals.
I think GTC's platform is especially attractive to the generic industry, or to compete with the generic industry (biosimilar is the technical term for a generic version of a biologic drug).
