"I would think Orasure would be very threatened at this point."
I'm sure they're just shakin' in their boots over that huge 10,000 rapid tests we sold last quarter.
Within the last five years, Calypte's stock went from $1.70 to 5 cents. The directors were all on board at that time, along with a lot of the same investors. I don't think your logic applies.
Why would you host a conference call around the same time as a shareholder meeting? That is what the shareholder meeting is for. Anyone live near by where they will be attending? They definately have some things to answer.
We can be sure Calypte will donate some free tests.
Movers and Shakers?
What is your point? What have any of these individuals ever accomplished in regards to selling Calypte's products? Seems like an awful thing to post in regards to the Company's current state of affairs.
"You are right, the results are not as important as the bashers think"
Well, one thing that is definately important is that Calypte will have no money left after the 4th qtr to sustain their operations.
P.S. I think its fair to say you underestimated just how hard this market would be to penetrate. I will admit I made the same mistake.
I think its fair to say the market had already priced in the abismal third quarter results. Wonder if the Middle Eastern investors will step up and exercise their warrants. It will have to be by the end of the year. You would think Calypte would have had discussions with them prior to increasing their spending IE: Two new international offices, 4 new employees, New Headquarters Facility.
".....cryptic and duosyllabic nature of your posts"
Sorry I didn't intend my posts to be either. I think you are over analyzing my writing. It was very simple, I asked IR whether a qtr conference call will be held and I got the response "Calypte will not do quarterly calls at this point".
Plain and simple.
That was funny, thanks for the laugh. I don't think any quarter is meaningless.
Feel free to discuss the situation yourself, IR contact information is not a secret:

Calypte will NOT be hosting quarterly conference calls at this time.
Are you implying that Calypte will be attending this conference? I did not see mention of their name anywhere.
The BOD is worthless in my opinion, not sure what benefit they have ever really served.
What does that have to do with the 3rd quarters report?
Most Proxys include a previous years report.
"Or do you think they will meet their goal of 2 million plus in 3rd quarter sales?"
Was that really their goal? I don't recall hearing anything about that. There 'estimate' for year end was 5 million. For all you know they were anticipating 80% of their revenue in the fourth quarter. Agreed? The one analyst following this stock is expecting somewhere around 600,000 for the qtr. That will be my measure for success.
This is the most important question. I'm hoping to see decent sales in the 3rd qtr. Will hope for a million plus, but if I was a betting man I'd put my guess at 350,000. What are your estimates???
What do you find interesting? Just curious, we have known about this for some time. Also what is the connection between HIV testing and Planetary Monitoring and Earthquake Risk Reduction? I don't see the correlation. Looks like more overhead to me, announce some sales not more costs.
Great link. No mention of Calypte, but still an interesting expose.
I found a lot of things intriguing, but I'll just touch on one:
The Real Revenue is Online - I assume the writer is speaking of mainly the U.S. market, but I wonder why it wouldn't also pertain to other more developed nations (IE. Russia, China, Middle East Countries, maybe even some African Nations). You wonder if Calypte has the audacity and/or money to put together some sort of online marketing media material. You know...guerrilla style bombarding users with a funny commercial, web hits, advertising through blogging. Perhaps they should look into hiring a web guru and putting something together so people could actualy order the product online. Imagine the market potential in a web-savvy country like China. Obviously you need language tools involved. At this point, it is fairly obvious that Calypte is not technologically advanced to do this. They surely have time on their hands to do something like this. They need to stir something up with their marketing!
Are you serious Cen? You really think little ol' Cato has some prior knowledge of positive news pending and therefore steps up his bashing posts? Talk about paranoia.
"Clearly, your expectations are higher than what the conditions, the company, the market and the overall picture allows."
Sorry, I must be crazy in order to expect revenue to be larger than total salaries. I'm nuts I tell ya.
So what is your estimate for 3rd qtr revenue?
When the company, through the CEO, has constantly missed their own projections, why shouldn't I hold them responsible?
P.S.
Is it really that hard to open up an office? I could do it today if I wanted..doesn't mean I'm going to sell anything.
In Kenya, didn't Orasure's test just receive the same notice regarding HIV self testing as Calypte's? Their obviously willing to distribute the test even with a lesser shelf life. Sorry for my recent negativity, this company just can't seem to produce sales and its draining my patience.
Calypte has only announced (released a PR) once over the last year that actually pertained to any sales and it was only for 25,000 test kits. None in the last 10 months. Just imagine the house and car Roger can afford with his allowances. Doesn't seem deserved at this point. Prove us wrong Roger - get some damn sales.
Gotta love page 11.
Thanks for the detailed response. I agree with you for the most part. However, Calypte was upset enought to make it a legal issue which could cause 'bad blood' between the two and dull any future arrangements.
Hey Cen, just curious as to your thoughts on Mineseeker. Why do you think they didn't end up purchasing the tests? I thought maybe it had to do with Calypte not having an approved test in Mozambique, the country where the initiative was supposed to be. There is obvious tension between the two.
Really? Earlier testing leads to earlier treatment? Who would have thought that? Good thing the Boston study came along. Sorry for the sarcasm, but that is so obvious.
From your statement:
"The government has approved the test to be sold on its store shelves."
From the article:
"The tests will be sold only to people who have received HIV counseling"
Are they really going to have HIV counslers at all these stores? I don't think so. I think the test will be used more in voluntary testing centers, not just randomly at your nearest convenient store.
"Billions of dollars to be used to purchase Rapid Oral Tests".
How did I miss that headline!? Don't recall ever seeing that.
I think you are over-emphasising this December 1st date. The only thing with that date correlated to Calypte, is Kenya's plan to open volutary testing centers that will have the test available. Even if Calypte can somehow capture 50% of that market, I still think you're only looking at 1 or 2 million in revenue a year.
Please see my post regarding this country and let me know any thoughts. As far as I can tell, they do not have an approved test for this country.
From a Sept. 2005 Press Release:
Regarding Mozambique....
"In collaboration with Gestlab, Calypte expects to begin the regulatory evaluation process for its Aware(TM) rapid tests in October. The three rapid HIV tests, Aware HIV-1/2 BSP (blood), Aware HIV-1/2 OMT (oral fluid), and Aware HIV-1/2 U (urine), will be evaluated in these studies. In conjunction with this collaboration, Gestlab has begun commercializing other Calypte assays, including the BED Incidence EIA test."
Anyone aware of an update regarding Mozambique? I have not found one. Do they need approval to use this test in the country? (I would assume so) Mineseeker/Sole of Africa's goal was to help with this country, perhaps that's why there is a dispute with the agreement.
Just thinking out loud, feel free to discuss/provide any additional info. Thanks.
Thanks.
"That $100,000 can be put into a fund, that will increase ten fold over ten years and provide a good retirement."
What's the name of that fund? lol At 20% annualized you would still be at only 600,000 or so.
Sure it was possible (for those that can play the market exactly right) to have made money with Calypte since its inception, however...the stock (along with the Company), in overall general terms, has been largely a disappointment. Just look at the since inception chart.
However, things change...I'm banking on it.
Say that one more time. 62 is a little early for such dementia, don't you think?
When I'm 62 and retired, I hope to be living my life out in the same way you are. Send me a private message with your phone number, I would like to talk to you over the tele. Thanks.
Great answer. "I don't like companies that lie" Strange that all your posts have been on the CBMC board. Not one single post on one of the hundreds of other companies message boards that "lie". You chose this one for a reason, why? Ex-employee, ex-shareholder that got burned, paid to bash this company...etc.? At least Blood spreads his wisdom to other boards (I think he might like Tony C. a little too much though)
What part is being blind?
Do they not have a unique, useful product?
Does the product not have a large market?
If these both are answered yes, does that not mean the company has potential?
Hopefully you can follow logic, take any College philosophy classes?
Sorry for not living in the past. The same thing was said about IBM, Starbucks, etc.
(I'm in no way saying Calypte is anywhere along the same lines as these two companies)
Really...is that the definition? Thanks, maybe CEOcast is mentioned in the dictionary under pumpanddump.
My question I asked sometime ago was in this post:
Is it really our worry? You seem to be the one so concerned with it. May I ask why? Simply here to help us all out and be our Hero? I'm just curious, thanks in advance.
While I do agree with your posts about sales, its really obsolete to me and to most of us here. We are investors/traders and want to make money. The potential is here, the product is here, the market is there...Can Calypte produce - time will tell. I think most of us here are willing to be patient and give them a chance. Granted I won't be around long if sales don't develope in the near future (over the next year)
No, more cynical than anything.
