This is my only thing then. Why wouldn't they just do that now. Whats the hold back. I agree 100% percent with all of you guys and girls who are saying that no DVR, no movies won't matter at this point to those who just want cheap tv. But we have been at this point for about a month now with Viva's current content, with the exception of the addition of the well recieved ESPN channels. They have a fantastic product as long as your internet speed is on point. Am I wrong?
I should have put a few of my lol's and hahaha's to show you that there was no ill feelings about it also. You're one of the few guys I enjoy conversing with here on the board as we are on the same page of course.
Agree there too!!
Ok, ok, fuse is lit boom, and madrabbit. I give up, I give up. I guess it hard for me to see out side my narrow little world. But, with 4 of us in the house, I've seen the fights between my two kids when they wanted to watch two different shows at it the same time. We only have directv hooked up to two tv's. Once we got the DVR years ago, everything is fine now. And a lot of shows my wife enjoys will come on at the same time. So she can't split in two to watch them. But hey, I get your point on rolling it out now.
What's the old saying. Better to have it and not need it, rather than to need it, and not have it. But still, the availability of a Cloud Based DVR was in their past statements. Sooooooo........
Here in the states madrabbit, for an overwhelming majority of us, it is essential. Not all, as PB and a few others have stated, they feel Viva can roll their product out with the option. But unless I go back to a DVD to record my shows, I will miss a ton of content. With a DVR, I don't have make sure I set the hour, then minutes, then day, and I can't tell you the times I mixed up a.m., and p.m and missed a show, talk about pissed! With a DVR, I only have to push one button, and I'm done. I guess I've become spoiled, but I have to have it, I would lose my mind, real talk. I'll stop there. hahaha
So Latinos won't have a use for DVR's? Maybe I misunderstood you. And, I haven't found an in depth study on the demographics as it pertains to the viewing habits of those within the Latino population. But i think they would want to have the capability to record content also if it was available. We know World Cup Soccer is mega huge just about everywhere except here in the states. I dont think they would want to miss those games. Sorry, maybe it's hard for me to stop thinking like a privileged Amercan. lol
I agree!!
Thanks PB. As usual, incredible insight! I will go back over this, and save it also. This is no doubt, the workings of an incredible company. I love the fact that they saw a huge void in the marketplace, and they are truly making a serious effort to fill it!
Yep. And once again, and even if I wanted to respond, I should have worded it so that there was no confusion. Lesson learned for sure.
Ok, thanks madrabbit.
Gotcha madrabbit. There are so many new channels being added to the international channels area. I didn't know if they were speaking Russian on channel 471 or not.
Also acampors, someone on Twitter asked if Russian channels may be in the works, and they told him they would look into it. I could be wrong because I don't speak the language, it sounds like they are speaking Russian, but they have added TROFEY TV, Channel 471. I could be dead wrong on the language they are speaking though. Channels like those international ones can't cost them anything when it comes to licencing. lol
Yes they did. The majority of them are the international channels, so it a little hard to see which ones are being added. But the movement is non stop. So at least that's a plus.
acam, I really think something is brewing under the surface. There's too much movement and addition of channels and the platform itself.
I may have misunderstood you PB. But I never got a free trial even though it was still up on the screen when I became a subscriber. It didn't make me any difference anyway, as I read that they were no longer offering the free service when I signed up on September 20th. At that time in September they had the premium channels until around the 1st of October, and then they took them down, but they still charged me $59.99 on the 20th of October. Now that is something that will have to be corrected by them, and I'm sure it will, being that we are in the beta test phase. Also the fixed the charges on my account too.
Thanks PB!!!
I know, those tigers can get really cranky. lol
If there was no Playstation Vue, no HULU Live, no Direct TV Now, no Sling, or no You Tube TV, I would be in your corner 100%. But at least come out with the basics. Our competitors are too established. If we launch with out at least DVR, movies, and premium channels, then let's do it in some remote area where tv's have just been introduced into society, and they don't wear clothes.
Drives you nuts don't it. But there will be an iPhone 9, a XI, or what ever they decide to name it. If Viva ever gets this moving, maybe we will get an opportunity to be there too. (Sigh)
Nice!! But I think the premium channels will return.
Yep, totally agree.
That sounds just like the friggin run around the big companies put us all through. Uugh.
Thanks JM!
How did we live without this stuff before?
Spot on!!
But isn't that how so many other companies started out ChillinZX, with nothing but word of mouth. Because in their infancy, they just didn't have a lot of capital for an advertising/marketing budget. Nine times out of ten, if it's good, it will gain a solid customer base. But most new companies have a damn good product. Or they had something they knew the big companies just weren't providing the general public, and they knew it. I'm still glad we were the first to trial Viva. And now Triad's customers (we have no idea how many) are trying it out too. I've finally said I'm ok with the delay with the premium channels for now. Who knows when they will come back. I'm simply going to get my ROKU sticks, and pay the $8.99 a month for the premium channels I want until Viva brings them back. I don't watch them really, my wife is the one who will really need them those channels. (And good God man I would never hear the end of it if we have trouble with streaming from my wife's saying, "I knew we should've got something, blah, blah, blah,) And it's only HBO, and STARZ if we watch any of them. I'm good anyway because I'm saving over $1000.00 a year just by dropping Direct TV. But the one thing they simply can't drag their nuts through the sand on I feel will be the DVR. As customers, we would miss too much stuff, and I don't watch what my wife watches and so on. Also bit more transparency couldn't hurt either. I'm fully aware they can't disclose any inside info. I think that's why hdw2620 is no longer posting here on this site. And PR's, 8K's cost. But they could keep us updated a little better on Facebook with things that aren't confidential. Facebook is free. Because if we don't really know much, we can only speculate. The naysayers will say it's curtains for Viva if they don't give us something with a little more subtance. But those who are optimistic will say, "something big must be happening." But we really don't know, because Twitter just can't tell us enough during times like this. One last thing, I know today's consumer is much more savvy than in the past. But most people still don't go to Twitter, or Facebook when they sign up for these streaming companies. I'm almost convinced of it when I read the horrible comments about Sling, and HULU, and there are a few who said they wish they would've come to Facebook first before becoming customers. I'll say it again, yes it's frustrating, but if they are getting their ducks in a row now, it will pay off in the end. I really don't want to see a Facebook page littered with scathing comments about Viva. I ask myself, how did Sling make it when they started off with just 20 channels, and no sports channels, etc.... Well no one was really out there with any live channels at the time. But just about everyone wants to save a buck, and most don't really care how. They will take a chance and hope. But with major players in this field now, Viva will have to offer something different. They've got the majority of the channels we all want here in the states, minus a few. But it really seems as if they will be the international players (no pun intended) by offering channels that no one else is offering. Those that don't speak English, there viewing needs have really been nothing but an afterthought. It looks like that has been fully addressed with the channel line up Viva have put in place. We will see. I'm off my soap box for today. GLTA
Hahahaha! Tell us how you really feel. I gotcha.
ChillinZX, I respectfully disagree. I don't think the people who are investing in ROKU were ever on this board. Not in big numbers anyway. Yes some of us knew about ROKU. But those investing in NASDAQ stocks aren't digging around OTC stocks looking to drop million of dollars to invest for themselves, or their clients. They probably couldn't tell you who VIVA is. The drop in volume with OTTV is a slow roll out, and missed time lines. People are just sitting on the sidelines to see if movies and DVR will every come out, and if Sub numbers will ever amount to anything. And of course, with our current SS, we just can't shoot up like a lot of other stocks can on fluff alone. Last question, when you say Viva is light years behind everyone else, do you mean that they just aren't getting the product out? Or literally behind on the tech side of things?
Ignore that post madrabbit. The bottom half didn't show up. hahaha
Another post as well madrabbit:

That saving grace in channel deversity is exactly what will elevate Viva above the rest of the current streaming services. I know it's frustrating as Hell. But I just finished checking my Facebook stuff for the day, and HULU Live's add is always there as I'm scrolling down. I always go straight to the comment section. And for every one complement HULU gets there are 15 to 20 complaints. The same with Sling. That's a horrible ratio. Yeah, I know the NFL channel, FS1 may not be available on Viva at the moment. But I'm shocked at the channels VIVA have now, that their customers are asking for. I'm exercising patience, and allowing them to get it right. They surely aren't the first in this segment, they just have to be one of the best.
I hope not. Just glad to see the product getting out there. We know for sure now it's not just IHUBer's. It seems as if some of the CEO's customers took him up on his Facebook post about trying out Viva's service after November 1st.
Let's hope Viva can get the billing issue resolved with Triad. But that is exactly what this beta test with them is all about. Really nice to see.
Thanks MRJOJO58.
Just found this one. Would like to jump in. Trying to find out the reason for the pop? Have you been watching this long? Thanks
"If impatient sellout, your shares will be bought no doubt." You're a poet, and don't know it. Dr Seuss couldn't have said it better! hahaha
Thanks LBYRD for an awesome/calming post. Been a little contentious around here lately, lol. We kinda needed that. Onward, and upward.
Yep, me too. That one, and the 1st Hotel Transylvania.
I'll try holding to. But I was looking at selling half if it hits a dollar, and letting the rest ride. And I'm always trying to be a realist, and that dollar may not be here for a little while. But damn dog, I'm sitting here looking at Dispicable Me on the Disney channel in absolute crystal clarity, and it's hard not to see this company doing well.
