Thanks. God bless you.
I slept for almost 24 hours Tues. to Wed. I was up a little bit and would go right back to sleep. So I woke up at 5:10 yesterday morning and have been awake for 24 hours now. My head hurts and I guess I will sleep most of today. I've had weird sleeping patterns since I got this neurological problem but I have always needed a lot of sleep.
Thank you excel for the prayer. I'm sure everything will be okay and I guess everybody has irritating things like this. I'm strong for him although I get a little down because I hate to see him done like that. But I do my best to cheer him up and support him. And he supports me too. We've been married 43 years. Sometimes I would just like to march in where he works and give them a piece of my mind!
I know of a woman who did just that when she got tired of how her husband was being done and she was mad. They backed off her husband, but I'm sure that could backfire on some people if they tried it.
Please pray for my husband. Those people at work are trying to put even more work on him and his group. They can barely keep up now. His boss. three years ago, took his raise away which had already been approved for him by the higher-ups where he works. He was supposed to get that raise because he had several people come to work under him. I don't know how some people can be so mean and dirty as to take a good person's raise away. He more than earned it. He has been under stress for two days because of a meeting that put this work on him. I feel stressed out too, but I know I shouldn't because I know the Lord will work it out, even if he has to quit. Then the place where he works would be in a real mess.

Make that two "Amens".
Amen to both of you.
Sorry, I messed up my last post and cancelled it because I didn't think I would have time to edit it. I found these scriptures and I think it means that people can drink as long as they do it in moderation, which is what I do. I can't even remember the last time I had an alcoholic drink, but I do love a good cold beer with a tasty hamburger especially in summer. I could never be an alcoholic because I can't drink without having it with a meal and I can only eat so much. People who can drink alcohol without eating are the ones who have to watch it. Believe me, I have seen my Dad drink for two weeks at a time while he was on vacation and hardly eat anything, and by the time his two weeks were up, he was sick and sometimes had to go to the doctor.
There are more scriptures that warn against wine and strong drink than talk about moderation.
Titus 2:2-4 (King James Version)
2That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
3The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
4That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
Ephesians 5:17-19 (King James Version)
17Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is.
18And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
19Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;
I forgot to tell you that I grew up in an alcoholic home and had many relatives who drank. My Dad made our lives miserable until we three children left home. He was very mean to my Mom too. And I had several uncles who died because of alcohol and they died young like in their 40's. So believe me, I have seen the negative effects of alcohol - divorce, fights, car wrecks, sickness and death to name a few.
I think it is okay to have an alcoholic beverage once in a while. The key is moderation, but it is not okay to be an alcoholic. I have a drink sometimes, but not very often at all. And it is not okay to drink around a person who has an alcohol problem, or to try to entice anyone to drink. When my older daughter was about three years old, I was having a beer. She wanted a drink so I just let her taste it. She got up on her tiptoes and went around in a circle about three times and said, "Oh, Mommy, pour that juice out". I know we have some Baptists on here and some may be teetotalers, I don't know. I know that some Methodists drink and some drink quite a bit, of which I don't approve. To me, having an alcoholic drink is no worse than having a soft drink, whether regular or diet, because neither one is good for you.
I never see people with signs anymore. I used to see one every morning on my way to work, but that was more that 9 years ago. It may have been that guy, but anyway one guy here had a sign and got money from people and ever so often a car would come by and the guy would give the money to the one in the car.
Hi franny. One day a friend and I were at work and this "bum" walks in the door. He asked us if we had 50 cents he could have. I was so stunned I didn't say anything. My friend told him she didn't have 50 cents, but she had a dollar he could have. So he took the dollar and we watched him and he went straight to the liquor store. I have laughed and laughed about that situation over the years.
Hi excel. Very interesting post. First of all let me be sure I understand this correctly. You were on your way home and didn't feel well. Then you ran past this car and didn't go back, then when you got home you were really sick.
We know that God works in mysterious ways, so I believe we cannot always answer questions like that. I'm thinking there are several possibilities here and some may sound controversial.
1. That could have been God's way of protecting you from harm from the people in the stopped car.
2. If you hadn't got home when you did, maybe you could have had an accident because of not felling well. (Another way of God protecting you.)
3. I don't know of any place in the New Testament where anyone was made ill. Jesus was always healing people.
4. As far as picking up hitch hikers or stopping to help someone with car trouble, we don't do that, and I don't know anyone who does. Things might be different out in your part of the country. But if I thought my husband picked up a hitch hiker, I would get on him so bad it would be his last time. Now if God spoke it into our hearts, we might stop, but I would sure want to know that we were doing God's will. Am I being hard hearted about this? I don't know, could be, but I believe that a person should not put himself in danger in cases like this.
5. Could your illness have been brought on by your feeling of guilt. I really don't think it was.
6. As far as God making you very, very ill, I think there is absolutely no way he would do that. It is his will that you be in health and prosper.
I have heard of people who had tragedies and then came to the Lord and people say they repented because of the tragedy. But it is satan who comes to kill, steal and destroy. It is God who turns things around for good.
I never see hitch hikers much anymore. Of course I don't travel that much.

So true.
I saw that first part on TV. Amazing.
Very touching!
Thanks tenac. I was trying to find the Hallmark channel the other day because my sister told me that the Waltons come on from 3 to 5 I think it was, and that was when I saw the Two and a Half Men. I have seen people on Facebook who list that as one of their favorite TV shows. I have Verizon and we get a bunch of channels and I don't have a hard copy list of the TV shows. They used to send them, but I haven't had one for several years now I guess. So the only way to find a channel is to scroll and it takes a long time. I talked to my sister later and she told me to look it up on the computer, but I had not thought of that.
I hear you. You have to watch that tenac. He will keep you in line. LOL!!!
I think satan is trying to take over TV, the internet and everything. Like I said in another post, I am sick of all the filth.
Maybe it is because I have been awake since about 5:30 yesterday. I guess I need some sleep. I have weird sleeping habits. One day this week I was asleep probably 18 hours out of 24 and I am not exaggerating. My sister said I could sleep more than anyone she ever knew. But sometimes I stay awake for a day or two. The longest I ever stayed awake was 3 days.
I am sick of all the filth I see and I try my best to avoid it. It is not safe to even scroll the channels on TV without coming across something dirty. I have never watched Two and a Half Men before, so when I saw it on the guide, I clicked on it and watched it about two minutes and it was filthy. Also I was changing my channel a few weeks ago and I accidentally hit a wrong number and yep, there was filth on that channel. Also FaceBook is a site for filth. I was absolutely amazed that some people can be so filthy minded. If I had a filthy mind like that, I would sure be ashamed for other people to know it. And some young women are awful, among them some of my neices I hate to say.
This world seems to be going to hell in a handbasket. And I would like to know why Willy Nelson is in trouble for marijuana and Charlie Sheen seems to get off so easy. I don't understand it. And I am sick of our government. I pray that we can get some good people in the next election and a good president to straighten things out for us.
Sorry, I just had to get this off my chest.
Excel, so good to have you back.
Please pray for my family members who are not saved. I have been trying to witness to my neice by the internet. I know God says that his Word will not return to him void, so pray that what I sowed into her will take root. Thanks and God bless.

Amen! I love discussing the Bible. It's my favorite topic.
I think the whole thing boils down to the intention in our heart. God knows our hearts. I do believe that Christians have evil thoughts and are tempted. But when that happens to us, we have a choice. We can put it under the blood of Jesus, or we can proceed and act upon the evil thought or temptation, thereby sinning willfully.
Hebrews 10:26-27 (King James Version)
26For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins,
27But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
Hebrews 10:26-27 (Amplified Bible)
26For if we go on deliberately and willingly sinning after once acquiring the knowledge of the Truth, there is no longer any sacrifice left to atone for [our] sins [no further offering to which to look forward].
27[There is nothing left for us then] but a kind of awful and fearful prospect and expectation of divine judgment and the fury of burning wrath and indignation which will consume those who put themselves in opposition [to God].(A)

I got back on here to see if there was any news about you, and thank God there was and you are better. Try to rest and take it easy. Will still keep you in my prayers.
I'm so sorry he is sick and I will pray for him. God bless you all.
Amen, tenac. The verses are right there to see. I don't know how anyone could deny that the Bible is true.

Amen. Prophecy being fulfilled before our eyes. Jesus is coming soon!!!
I suppose I've heard of Fat Tuesday before, but I don't ever remember it. I've never heard of anyone I know celebrating it.
Today is Fat Tuesday. I heard it on TV.
Well, I found this website and I think you make your pancakes at home. In this article, it sounds like a mainly Catholic practice, but other websites say some protestant churches do it also. I was surprised that I had never heard of this because I am 64 years old.

Has anyone ever heard of Shrove Tuesday (when you eat pancakes), which comes from the custom of confessing one's sins - or shriving - before Lent begins on Ash Wednesday?
This is a website if anyone is interested in breakfast recipes:

Amen to that! Just to think about all that Jesus did for us and then some people mock him and make fun of him. It makes me sick what goes on in this world sometimes.
I am glad she is doing better and hope they can find out what is causing the pain. I am feeling much better than I was the other day. Sometimes this spasmodic torticollis is just about unbearable.
I think about Jesus and how he took all our sicknesses and diseases and I don't understand how he stood it. Then he was nailed to the cross. But I give him honor, praise and glory.
Tenac, how is your wife? I hope she is better.
