Easy answer. Does STZ grow hops or brands? Being a farmer only pays so much. Building a brand is the same as building an empire. Go CGC!
Totally agree with you. Bruce was right for his time and I am one of those early investors, never sold a share, and still looking great with an average purchase price under $3.
Well, sort of... but in balance it’s a bit harsh to call executing well a false statement. CGC is doing what any startup in a new industry would do, getting mezzanine funding and leadership in place, adapting to changing market conditions, etc. It’s very easy to armchair quarterback their actions with 20-20 hindsight. Looking forward, I’d give them an A+! Write downs are a good sign of transparency in their financial reporting.
The write downs are course corrections by the new management team. Just doing what they said needed to be done. I’m glad to see them being proactive.
Agreed. One only needs to review the management presentation at the most recent earnings call to see that they are simply doing exactly what they said would be done. Anyone who has gone on incessantly about their costs over the years should also welcome this news. Still, haters gonna be haters. CGC has always executed well and continues to do so.
Well, well. That means that Canopy’s execution is another big plus. Constellation’s brand stewardship and ability to scale the business will both accrue to big gains in the global market for legal cannabis. Go CGC!
Looks to me like there’s still a fair amount of gap to fill on the upside.
So what does that mean? Seems kind of arbitrary. Help me. I’m just a simple operator, not a technical chartist.
Borys must be sweating bullets after the MJ results in US elections. Oh well! Make bad short bets and pay the piper! Who in their right mind would still be betting on the Black Market these days? Go CGC!
Or even less! One gets tired of the suckers and losers who jumped late on the bandwagon and now have sour grapes because they can't make CGC into a short term trading play. Longs rule here! Happy Thanksgiving to everyone!
Canopy doesn't need to do anything spectacular. They've been very good at launching a large-scale public company in a budding (pun intended) industry with a huge reservoir of established black market demand. Canopy jettisoned their early-stage founders, brought in strong financial management and a much stronger executive team in terms of operations. All this matters, it isn't hype. It is simply how one builds a company. Think about companies like Bacardi, which went from smuggling rum to the U.S. during Prohibition, to being one of the largest liquor brands in the world after Prohibition ended. We are seeing similar market conditions today. Actually, looking at all Canopy has done, I'd say is has been quite spectacular. No hype, just facts.
Nice volume today, supporting new floor around a 52-week high level. I'm reminded of a time about ten years ago when my broker discouraged an investment in APPL because their research dept though it was "fully priced." I didn't buy then, but bought later anyway at an even higher price; it split and kept rising. I sold with a 40% gain Wish I still had it today! For me it's not about the chart, its about the brand, the customer service and the strategy. I'm an operator, not a chartist or trader. CGC is checking all the operating boxes!
I’m not sure who your “We” is? Not sure what you call “hype?” Happy’s comments are based on factual information. Disinformation is now getting its comeuppance. Go CGC!
What’s interesting here is that the standard wisdom of “Buy on rumor, sell on news,” is being reversed for CGC right now. The news of the earnings release led to a higher price. The news of a Biden administration is leading to a higher price. What’s happening is new support for a higher floor under CGC. Rumor and fact may return to their traditional motives, but definitely from a higher point on a long term upward curve in value. Go CGC!
Nice start to the week! Straight up $1 USD day!
+5.48 in US! printing over $25 USD!
It's about time for Borys and Doomed to show up and pontificate about their collective blackmarket doom. Otherwise, this is a great day for CGC. Good news and the market isn't selling! Up, up! Here we go!
I don’t think I’d call Constellation naive
and I am unaware of any reputable published analysis that would support that assertion. Meanwhile, CGC is approaching a 52-week high. They must be doing something right.
You are entitled to your opinion, but I wouldn't call two people changing jobs and moving to Spain to sell seeds a huge indicator what is developing in the cannabis industry. CGC has the scale and the business development trajectory to be a winner. That is why they have attracted so much capital, including major investment of cash and talent from Constellation -not to mention making big $$ for those of us who were early and patient. I wouldn't call them Doomed at all.
Cute story, but maybe just that. Are there any facts? Looks like CGC has been doing very well. While it's true that heirloom corn is still available, large scale growers dominate the commercial market on a global basis. This is where cannabis is headed. The black market model is shrinking and will all but go away.
Is there a source for alleged Canopy rumors?
Where did all the penny trading shorts go after earnings beat estimates? Back underground?
Two years is a short wait compared to how long we’ve already been in. Looking forward to it!
Doog: I take it as a good sign that you are back lurking again. You were a luck charm during the early days and initial runs. Peace!
Really, more shallow and shameless comments? No one, apparently other than you, expected Canopy to report a profit. They did better than expected and held on to the pre-release run up in share price with a gain after earnings were reported. How’s that black market business degree working for you now? Oh, I forgot! Those aren’t public companies that you are lobbying for! They aren’t even private companies! They are continuing criminal enterprises! Finally, cannabis is coming above ground. Go CGC! Let’s end the stigma!
Oh puluezze! So you can’t acknowledge the underground black market that you keep lobbying for? Sad, loser. Go CGC!
With state AGs already challenging DEA scheduling, things will change quickly here. The weed industry will soon be above ground and making money for everyone. Go CGC!
A ytd nutshell maybe, especially if you are seeking to paint a negative outlook. But it's not over yet; many on this board chose to invest in CGC with a much longer time horizon.
You can't hide your lying eyes, or lips for that matter. Go CGC!
Maybe you posted too early. I made $15K yesterday and only gave back $3K today. I'm okay with that. Go CGC!
A $2+ day on big volume and so far not looking back. Silence here is golden! Go CGC!
Borys, other shorts, and black market lobbyists are all silent now. Obviously, waiting for the institutional run up before earnings to proclaim any slight decline as proof of their massive intellect. At the end of the day, cannabis is popular and many are happy to see the stigma erased. Go CGC!
Not sure what point, if any, you are making regarding my post.
Bye, bye? Really? So you think the genie just goes back Ito the blackmarket bottle? No chance. Get real. Once the government gets a taste of tax revenue, it never goes back underground. It's all over now baby blackmarket. Go CGC!
This is where the black market lobbyists on this board have no answers at all. Money that could go for the public good is instead put into guns and other crazy s#!t.
Oh, puleezze! You can take your tomato and ganja seeds and live in a tepee with your stoner grower friends. Just remember that the rest of the world buys their veggies and booze at the market at all different price points and quality levels. Companies like Constellation aren’t lacking at all in the money, knowledge or experience to make this work legally. Go CGC!
Read my lips. Politicans and governments need money. Sin taxes are not new. Liquor stores have replaced bootleggers. Grocery stores sell far more tomatoes than the farmer's market or home growers. Cling to your bowl for as long as you want, but this is a real industry with centuries of proven demand that is coming above ground and it should. Go CGC!
You are so right. This is not at all about where the market has been. It’s about where the market will go as a legit unstigmatized above-ground business. Who knows a bootlegger anymore? The same will happen to the narcos. Real business, real branding, legit money that benefits everyone.
Truth really isn’t that complicated, unless you are willing to discard it in service to your own lies. I agree that this seems to be a common problem for those who are ethically challenged.
Yes, I do believe that truth exists.
