Compare:
Virginia company that won lawsuit against Blackberry for like 650 million and all that tech did, from my understanding, was enable blackberry's email system.
One would have to think that Neomedia's tech is far more valuable / useful that that!
imagine us bringing in 650 million ..... at 40X earnings (very possible for a tech like this) and 2.8 billion OS that is like $9 dollars a share...(i think my math is correct (anyone want to confirm)......... WOW
how cool would that be!!!!!!!1
Can you say Pre-installed!!!!!!!!!!!! The Bems--Neomedia and Bems--Telefonica news today is indeed big!
Scanbuy was working significantly with Telefonica (a major part of the panel discussion slideshow at CES a few months back)....Now Neomedia is connected with them-----awesome! They have about 150 million customers and and after making some calls found out the the Neoreader will be pre-installed on Telefonica phones starting very soon!!!!! This is outstanding for Neom! 12 countries that are very mobile saavy! Will spread far and wide and rapidly! Loving the news!
Nothing big to report from Ctia! But here are a few thoughts:
Vistited Neustar booth and MMA both!
Both were very positive with respect to the value of Neomedia's IP! It seems like it a foregone conclusion that Neomedia IP is defineatly in play!!!!! Which is outstanding!
Also, checked out one of the potential competitors for the RFP (request for proposal that CTIA has not actually issued just yet) and they (syner--something cant remmeber name) and they were clueless about a bid and the person I spoke with assured me he would be in the know about it. So that is good---one less competitor....The other competitor----Verisign I did not even see at the show and it was a very small show!
Also, MMA is planning to release asap certification standards/program for mobile advertising.....which will obviously involve NEOM's IP! Scanbuy has resigned from the MMA as well! Not sure if they will rejoin after a settlement!
Otherwise pretty boring show.....again very small...nevertheless 2d barcodes are going to be very popular....millions of application!
I am flying into LA tonight and going to try to make it there! :)
Just got off the phone with a new illuminary person and i think that the deal with Neustar is ever more significant than I at first was realizing....so I am going to verbalize my thoughts in hopes that it may benefit my friends here on Ihub!
The word "exclusive" is huge!!!!! And it is a huge vote of confidence by Neomedia on behalf of Neustar and more significantly of Neustar on behalf of Neomedia!
It says loud and clear to everyone....a system and mean for the rapid deployment of barcodes is in place and if you want to use it and not run the risk of litigation/disruption of the 2d code ecosystem, then you have to go with us!
It seems like the only choice for Ctia is to go with Neustar exclusively or go with Neustar for the indirect method accounting and another like Verisign for the direct. Although that seems challenging considering the money is with the indirect method.
Remember Neustar is not new to this game (they process billions of transactions every day) and they have just made a very aggressive and powerful move in this space and Neomedia and thier IP is at the heart of it! And with lots of revenue at stake for themselves, Neustar now has the financial interests to help protect and fight for this IP and they are a Billion $ company! Again, I think this is much more significant than I at first realized....Neustar is a powerful "partner" for Neomedia to have!
Furthermore, the fact that this huge company has announced this relationship with us gives us exposure to the rest of the investment world like we have never had before! I am actually shocked that the price of the stock has not sky-rocketed...then again YA is still in the mix and no doubt selling shares and beating down the pps! And lastly, with respect to this (dillutive financing) is it safe to say with the likes of Neustar working with us the need for additional YA financing is OVER!!??!!??!! I tend to think so!
was not suggesting any connection to us...just the fact that a barcode is being highlighted is good for us and the space in general!
Google.com is highlighting barcodes
Their typical google logo is a barcode right now!
Interesting
Oct 7-9th ( i could be off 1 day)!
I am going to try and be there!
At the same time, Neomedia attorney evidently agreed to this by signing off on the request for a two week extension because they were in final settlement discussions....
Would they do that if they did not strongly believe that a settlement would happen...I tend not to think so! Although anything is possible I suppose....it seems that neither is served well by dragging this out...especially now that the word of a settlement is out and CTIA is around the corner!
Looks like we are headed for a strong close! And we still have FRIDAY! :)
Do you understand the importance of setting precedence?
A small piece of every indirect transaction is no small piece!
And given the fact that this is Scanbuy who would almost rather die than to concede to Neomedia....this is significant....
Tell me/us you can at least see this??????
Disagree, I believe that YA's pockets are every bit as deep as Scanbuy...even deeper actually and they certainly know what is at stake with a precedent!
This is very good!!!! PERIOD or should I say EXCLAIMATION
I disagree!!!! Scanbuy is settling because they have to and that logically favors Neomedia! They need us to do what they do. (period)
Neomedia know how important of a precedent this is and would not settle for peanuts!
Except this time it may be true! Scanbuy was doing a lot of business and if this takes off like we all think it will....virtually every company/business/brand will be using 2d barcodes to interact/connect/engage/re-engage/etc will consumers!
The sky is really the limit! In fact, we may have to invent a new phrase---the sky may not be high enough! lol
Almost countless applications for this tech....linking the physical universe to the internet automatically!!!!!!
That is exactly what is happening!!!! Scanbuy has been fighting this tooth and nail for over 3 years! Now they have to say "Uncle." And yes everyone else will realize it as well or suffer financial penalties! :)
gs1 works on standards for about 700 carriers worldwide!
neustar, verisign, etc.... regardless Neom will get paid IMO
This is some very positive news....remember Neom's attorney had to sign off on this so they must be convinced that a legitimate settlement is at hand!
A little surprised that we are not at / over a penny!
This is a MAJOR deal.....Scanbuy wanted with all their might and wit to overcome NEOMEDIA's IP and were not able to....which communicates very powerfully to anyone else in this space who tried to do so!
A small piece of every indirect transaction will be huge IMO!
Let hope 2d barcodes develops like text messages did! (more text messages each day than phone calls or people on the planet)! If 2d barcodes are even close to this successful and I think they will be....that bodes very well for NEOMEDIA~!
Spoke with a couple key individuals from GS1 today and my take away was that the indirect method is very necessary and they acknowledge that....in addition, they are concerned with the codes themselves and not primarily with the methods the different codes use....they also were very aware of Neomedia and their IP (they have a lot of IP).
Again, for the knuckleheads on this board...no inside info---just DD and inquiry!
Also, the Scanbuy info seems very encouraging!!!! And I too think CTIA would be a great time to announce some significant news! :)
Here is, i think, a good question for brands to ask themselves:
Is it smart for me to go with a proprietry code that will
1. cost me to use, 2. cost me additionally to use Neomedia's IP, and 3. run the risk of having a campaign interupted/halted because of a pending lawsuit?
Why not just go with they system that is in place....like a Neustar clearinghouse that has built into neomedia/carrier charges, etc.
Had a very good conversation this am with a very very important player, more like a "dealer," in this space and it confirmed my/most people on this boards belief and that is the indirect method must be used by both GS1 (world) and CTIA (US market)!
The individual I spoke with knows the ins and outs of this very well!
Look for CTIA to issue a request for bid very shortly for the clearinghouse that will handle all of the transactions related to barcodes for carriers/content providers/advertisers/ and any other entity that will need to get paid (i.e. think of the bridge or the small piece of every transaction)!
For those who sent me their email/information I will be sending out a email with a little more info! But needless to say...I was very glad to have the conversation---showing up at all the events can be useful!
And for any who are tempted to challenge my credibility...save the key strokes....I have been on this board for a long time and am not given to sharing misinformation!
Great catch Lesnshawn!

How many shares do you own by the way?
What they want and what they get may be different! Of course they would want royalty free / patent free but that does not mean it will happen.
Without the indirect method there is no means of verifcation/monetization! And that is what it is all about!
Has this paper been posted?
http://www.gs1.org/docs/mobile/GS1_Mobile_Com_Barcodes_Position_Paper.pdf
Just tried GetFugu on my Google G1 and it was not that impressive. It is not automated...you have to take a picture of the logo and then send it in to be recognized! And it did not recognize the visa logo.
It would have been easier to search for company!
It needs to be an automated process!
Using all the analytical ability I have, I offer fellow shareholders the following encouragment:
Given the fact that 2d barcodes are exploiding onto the scene and that the indirect method is clearly the preferred / necessary method needed to truly monetize and protect advertising/marketing campaigns; it seems to me that Neom IP is extremely valuable!! So valuable it will dwarf (like YJ has pointed out) to money owed to YA! And despite the disgusting dillution, I truly believe we will look back on this long and rough ride and be glad we stayed the course! And how sweet it will be to one day celebrate together!!!!
Praying for a smack down of Scanbuy, a flood of lucrative liscensing deals, as well as wisdom and a huge sense of fudiciary responsibility for those in managment!
P.s. forgive my grammer or lack thereof....I am typing on my phone!!!!
All the best to all faithful shareholders and to those in leadership who are truly looking out for shareholders!!!

It seems to me that either:
Bena is part of some grand pump and dump sceme (which I do not believe) or
Iain was backtracking because He realized that he said something he should not have said!
Or perhaps she was used by Iain as part of a pump and dump! Then later Iain simply says he was misquoted and because she is not from this country there is no real consequence!
However, I would say that Neomedia shareholders should remember well this situation about something "huge" because this could be useful later. This could definately be consrued as misleading shareholders---if something huge does not come to pass! Then again something "huge" is open to interpretation!
Does anyone know if it is possible, given public filings, to calculate exactly how much YA has profited from the dilution?
Reflecting upon our investment---
I know some of what I write we do not really like to hear but it is reality and we need to deal with it!
It is true that many of us have been here a long time and as a result we are frustrated that things have not taken off! Nevertheless we need to keep in mind that no one is making a lot of money with 2d barcodes yet! Things are heating up and they have been for a long time but they have not reached the masses yet! So we need further patience and I probably dislike to hear that more than most!
Secondly, I do not believe that Neomedia a scan designed to rob shareholders of money! Have bad decisions been made regarding financing, arguable yes! Nevertheless funding was needed and austensibly this is the best we could find at the time! Sad but true. The solution...become profitable and rid ourselves of YA asap! How? Liscence our IP~! Problem: Why would businesses spend lots of money to liscense our IP when it remains to be proven fully they they need to or suffer the finacial consequences (i.e. Scanbuy litigation/conclusion is still outstanding)! Albiet, other lawsuits have been one (Virgin, etc)! Neomedia needs to make it very clear to potential liscencee that if they liscence the IP now hear are the terms, if they wait until they are forced to acknowledge the IP then the terms will not be as favorable! This in itself presents a dilemma because no doubt liscense agreements will establish a price/precedent that could be used in the Scanbuy case! Thus until the Scanbuy case is settled signing deals is very challenging.
Moreover, the infant nature of the marketplace also is not conducive to liscense deal. Simply put business do not spend money paying for something unless they absolutely have to! So we should continue to keep and even increase the pressure on management to work very very hard to make Neomedia a success while understanding these challenges!
In addition, shareholders need to unite, organize, and strategize and explore their options so as to let YA and Neomedia BOD know that we are serious and also prepared to act if necessary!
Lastly, most of us are in this stock because we believe that it has huge potential. Some are in it to make a quick buck or simply turn a profit! That said, we must continue wait for the marketplace to develope and hit the masses! I still believe that our IP has huge potential/value and these have been discussed at length on this board and yet the potential reaches even beyond what we have written about!
The key events, in my estimation, that we are waiting for are :
1. A definitive win against Scanbuy
2. Ctia endorement / acknowledgment / etc
3. Full Carrier cooperation and committment
4. And a marketplace that utilizes this technology on a massive scale!
I welcome any additional points or counterpoints to the above!
Also, if you are serious about this stock and want to be involved in another off Ihub disussion format email me for an invite Neom@KevinBall.org!
Yes, I would like to know exactly how much they invested as compared to how much they have reaped from the dilution.
Can anyone answer that?
Not after investing 50 million + in Neomedia! It is just not that simple~!
Off IHub private Venue forming....if you would like to join and help contribute to planning and strategizing for the purpose of increasing shareholder value, then email me. Neom@KevinBall.org
(some significant ihubbers have already joined....want to specifically invite Claww, Bleedingedge, etc).
What was said about Scanbuy litigation....it went blank on my end!
Arpvrp, yes they have been tweaked! However, the point is when they were written, they were written with great care and as broadly as possible! Some may argue that the scope of the patent in view has been narrowed, others can argue that their import has been stregthened!
Scanbuy at CTIA made a major announcement--they would now embrace the indirect method and the open standard and they did so because of the Neomedia patent ruling!
Although it is true that the direct method is used more often that the indirect method, it is also true that indirect method is the more powerful method! The Indirect method is the only one that can be tracked and monetized and at the end of the day that is what matters!
Also, if you have ever read the patents and their claims you will quickly come to the conclusion that the inventors have endeavored to think of virtually every imaginable way the tech could be used and thus have it covered by the patent! When I read them some years ago I was amazed by the technical detail of the claims! These are very smart people who have went to great lengths to have their method/idea protected!
All the silence makes me very curious...is it possible that there truly is something significant in the works and they are working very diligently to keep it quiet until it is announced? That would be great, but who knows!
Amen JP!
