Problem is they are cheap bastards. Lot more buying today and yesterday. We need to wait now for some good news for momentum. If they receive their license to dispense and sell thzt should do it. Hopefully it is before 10/17/18.
777, Cnote, and Still,
I really like this company’s prospects. They are a relatively small company with a great management team. That alone is a good formula for growth, so when you consider their approach to their business model using their expertise in cannabis, their engineering knowledge in building design that compliments their growing technique to grow 3 times cannabis yield per sq. foot vs conventual models which will cut costs, their relationship with indigenous people which could give them an additional 11% tax credit in that relationship endeavors, their plans for direct sales through their planned flagship retail outlet in downtown Edmonton, their relationship with small companies like Elephant Extracts which will pave the way for RavenQuest to have access to Elephants technologies to heighten the enjoyment of the Cannabis Experience, their strategic procurement of companies to expand their growing and cultivation capabilities. On top of all of that consider a small company like RavenQuest being positioned to be one of the few companies in a G7 Country on the cusps of a revolution of legalized Cannabis explosion. I would have to say their prospects look very good for growth. How much I have no idea? AJMO and worth what you paid for it.
I think so also, they are not bieding there time while they waiting for 10/17/2018. They are making expansion plans, they are planning to build a flagship retail outlet in downtown Edmonton. Making all the right moves and have a high level of expertise with a major tract record of success. What is not to like?
Letter dated 10/17/2017 to the Cannabis Secretariat of British Columbia
Concerns of RavenQuest detailing its opinions about certain rules and regulations and how they should be implemented into the then upcoming C 45 law.
I believe companies that display a high level of responsibility to communities will place themselves in the forefront regarding licensing. Guess we shall see. AJMO and worth what you paid for it.

RavenQuest BioMed Comments on Historic Senate Vote Passing Canada's Cannabis Act
GlobeNewswire•June 20, 2018
VANCOUVER, British Columbia, June 20, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- RavenQuest BioMed Inc. (CSE:RQB) (RVVQF) (1IT.F) (the “Company” or “RavenQuest”) comments on the historic vote in Canada's upper chamber on June 19, 2018 which passed with 52 Yeas, 29 Nays and 2 abstentions. Under Canada's constitution, Bill C-45 ("The Cannabis Act") will now be sent to the Governor General to make Royal Ascent, at which point it will become the law of the land; adult recreational use cannabis will be federally legal across Canada.
George Robinson, CEO of RavenQuest BioMed Inc., a diversified cannabis company based in Vancouver, BC, Canada, commented on this historic result with the following comments:
"We are extremely pleased and welcome the passage of this historic bill into law. We wish to thank the contributions from all sides of the ongoing conversation around cannabis legalization. This includes the crucial and often risky early efforts by activists and advocates as well as the ongoing contributions from educators, research scientists, law enforcement, public health officials, physicians, lawmakers and so many more. We encourage all stakeholders to continue this conversation as we move towards implementing the regulatory framework which will put this legislation into action. Much needs to be accomplished to ensure public safety, education and awareness come to the forefront as we implement C-45. As a company that believes emphatically in social responsibility, we continue to emphasize the Government of Canada's stated priority to include Indigenous communities in all major new economies affecting Canadians. We are confident that the appropriate steps will be taken by parliament and its committees to ensure Indigenous communities are afforded the chance to participate in this unprecedented economic opportunity."
Robinson added "Canada will now officially become the first G7 nation to legalize adult recreational marijuana use federally. After 90 years of prohibition, this is a historic milestone with potentially global implications. The world will be watching as Canada takes a leadership role in lifting prohibition. As we move toward the implementation of the Cannabis Act, I encourage all industry participants to lead responsibly, taking the care and caution that comes with stewardship of a new era."

Canada’s cannabis industry is projected to reach C$22.6 billion over the coming years, according to Deloitte, driven by the legalization of adult-use cannabis nationwide. While there are over 100 licensed producers planning to have over 700,000 kilograms of production capacity online by the end of the year, Marijuana Policy Group estimates that demand could exceed 900,000 kilograms and there could be a shortfall in supply.
Investors looking to capitalize on these supply and demand economics have many options, but the best opportunities are companies with strong management teams focused on a niche market that won’t be eroded by the commoditization of the industry over time.
RavenQuest BioMed Inc. (CSE: RQB) began as a management and consulting firm that helped nearly 60 clients become licensed producers of medical cannabis under Health Canada’s ACMPR program. After taking the time to understand their problems, the company partnered with McGill University and began researching technology solutions and began pursuing partnerships that leverage its public company status to finance projects.

Feds make promises to Aboriginal senators to avert pot bill delay
The Canadian Press
03:4103:41
OTTAWA -- The Trudeau government has averted a potential confrontation with Indigenous senators that could have delayed the legalization of recreational marijuana.
The 11 members of the Senate's Aboriginal Peoples' committee had planned to support a Conservative amendment that would have deferred implementing Bill C-45, pending a report on government efforts to address the concerns of Indigenous communities.
That could have been enough to ensure the amendment passed, given that other senators are also sympathetic to the concerns of some First Nations, who say they have not been properly consulted on the measure.
But just prior to the debate, Health Minister Ginette Petitpas Taylor and Indigenous Services Minister Jane Philpott sent a letter to the committee, promising a full report to Parliament in September and another within 12 months.
The ministers also promised more funding for Indigenous mental health and addiction treatment services, special help for Indigenous businesses to navigate the licensing process to grow marijuana and consultation on jurisdictional and revenue-sharing issues.
As a result, committee chair Lillian Dyck says Indigenous senators have achieved more than they'd hoped to do with the amendment from Conservative Sen. Dennis Patterson, who says he has decided -- with "hesitation" -- to abandon it.
https://www.bnnbloomberg.ca/feds-avert-possible-marijuana-bill-delay-with-promises-to-aboriginal-senators-1.1088831
“While Ottawa, the provinces and territories cut out Indigenous communities from the spoils of cannabis excise tax revenues, the letter said that issue would be dealt with through a "new fiscal relationship" currently in the works.”
————————————————
It seems that conservatives in the Senate were upset with indigenous peoples representatives in the Senate for not helping in delaying the passage of the whole C45 bill because the amendment concerning them was not approved. The indigenous representatives reminded them that conservatives have not exactly been friendly to indigenous peoples in the past ( they may in fact been the very ones who voted against the amendment - not certain of that just my presumption ) After receiving a letter by two ministers that their issue would be dealt with through a new fiscal relationship. Very interesting. Not exactly certain how this new relationship will, or will not benefit RavenQuests. AJMO and worth what you paid for it. Comments welcome.
Conservative senator accuses Indigenous senators of 'capitulation' on pot bill
Letter from 2 cabinet ministers to Indigenous senators allayed concerns raised by committee
Jorge Barrera · CBC News · Posted: Jun 06, 2018 7:57 PM ET | Last Updated: June 6
A Conservative senator accused Indigenous senators of "capitulation" on the federal pot bill Wednesday when they shelved plans to table amendments after receiving promises from two federal cabinet ministers for more consultation and a pledge to report back on the progress.
Indigenous Services Minister Jane Philpott and Health Minister Ginette Petitpas sent a letter to seven Indigenous senators Wednesday morning hours before the Senate was set to debate potential amendments to Bill C-45, the act to legalize recreational use of cannabis, which is currently in third reading.
Bill C-45 is up for a final Senate vote Thursday.
Senators recommend delaying cannabis bill for a year to address Indigenous issues
Health Canada says delaying pot bill for more Indigenous consultation would leave kids vulnerable
The 11th hour letter appeared to allay some concerns from Indigenous senators who scrapped plans to table proposed amendments to the bill. The amendments stemmed from concerns outlined by a Senate Committee on Aboriginal Peoples report that called for up to a year's delay in the bill's passing.
The report said the time frame was needed to allow Indigenous communities to prepare for the social impact of the bill and work out a revenue sharing deal.
Amendment defeated
Conservative Sen. Scott Tannas, deputy chair of the committee on Aboriginal Peoples, failed to garner enough support to pass an amendment setting aside 20 per cent of all federal cannabis production licences to proposals based in Indigenous communities or on land owned by Indigenous governments.
Sen. Murray Sinclair said Tannas's amendment seemed aimed only at First Nations reserves, was vague on the definition of Indigenous governments and left out Inuit and Métis communities.
"This particular amendment ... provides a vehicle by which private enterprise can access licences by using Indigenous people," said Sinclair.
"Let's leave this for the consultation process ... which the government has committed to in the letter they have provided."
The letter said that the Trudeau government would deal with "all of the areas highlighted" by the committee's report through consultation with Indigenous communities and organizations.
The ministers said they would report back on their progress within 12 months after the bill received Royal Assent, said the letter.
Conservative Sen. Carolyn Stewart Olsen said Indigenous senators were passing up an opportunity to change the bill.
"I am troubled by the seeming capitulation," said Stewart Olsen.
"I am troubled by what's happened here. I don't know if there was pressure…. When you have the hammer, don't drop it lightly. "
Conservatives not 'a friend to Indigenous Peoples'
Liberal Sen. Lillian Dyck, who is Indigenous and the chair of the committee on Aboriginal Peoples, then asked Stewart Olsen to explain what "hammer" they actually held.
"If you don't know, Senator Dyck, that's kind of sad," said Stewart Olsen, to groans and shouts of "Condescending. That's condescending."
Sinclair, who chaired the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, said he was "personally offended" by Stewart Olsen's "patronizing tone."
Sinclair said the Conservative senators were trying to "bully" Indigenous senators when the Conservative party "has not been a friend to Indigenous Peoples."
Stewart Olsen was a senior adviser to former prime minister Stephen Harper.
"It suggests we don't know what we are doing ... that somehow we have sold out to others," said Sinclair.
"In reality, that opportunity is merely to comply with the admitted and very public commitment that the Conservative senators have made to delay passage and to make passage of this bill difficult."
Nunavut senator weighs in
The letter from the two cabinet ministers also convinced Conservative Senator Dennis Patterson, who represents Nunavut, to change his mind about tabling an amendment to delay passage of the bill.
There is a commitment made in writing that has been made and I am sure it will be honoured," he said.
"There is a lot of work to be done because the Aboriginal people were left out of this major transformative policy change."
The letter from the two ministers highlighted the federal government's $200 million budget commitment over five years to improve culturally appropriate addictions treatment and $62.5 million over the same time-span for community-based cannabis education campaigns.
The letter also stated that currently five out of 105 licensed producers have "Indigenous affiliation" along with 14 applicants.
While Ottawa, the provinces and territories cut out Indigenous communities from the spoils of cannabis excise tax revenues, the letter said that issue would be dealt with through a "new fiscal relationship" currently in the works.
Cannabis bill passed by a wide margin yesterday however one of the amendments to allow Indigenous peoples 20% of the market did not. That is probably why RavenQuest made the move to start finalization of the purchase of Western Agripharma assets to give them a presence in both the facilities in Port Mellon on Sunshine Coast in western Canada and 23.75% Of Nova Scotia facilities that were owned by Western Agripharma. RavenQuest had a backup plan and excecuted on it swiftly that is what excellent complanies do. Keep in mind that the amendments passed by the Senate yesterday now have to go through the House to make the Bill as it exist now with amendments to reach final approval. So there could be a push to change some of the amendments made by the Senate. Who knows? AJMO and worth what you paid for it.

OTTAWA – The bill to legalize recreational marijuana in Canada is up for a crucial vote at the last step in the legislative process this week, with uncertainty looming over what the final wording of the law will be.
Senators are set to vote on Bill C-45, the Cannabis Act, at third reading in the Senate on Thursday, after studying it for six months. For those planning to follow the vote that day, rest up as it’s possible the vote could not happen until midnight. It could also be much earlier, but entirely depends on how many senators want to speak to the bill that day. Midnight would be the latest possible, as all sides agreed to vote on the bill by June 7 at the latest.
The legislation – an electoral promise of Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and the Liberal Party – would allow adults in Canada to legally possess and use small amounts of recreational marijuana. It sets out parameters around the production, possession, safety standards, distribution, and sale of marijuana. It also creates new Criminal Code offences for selling marijuana to minors. The proposed federal law spells out that it will be illegal for anyone younger than 18 to buy pot, but allows for provinces and territories to set a higher minimum age.

LEGISinfo: Bill C-45
Bill C-45 was introduced alongside Bill C-46 which specifically deals with drug-impaired driving. It is still before the Senate and is facing its own winding legislative journey. Read more on that here.
Speaking with CTVNews.ca, Leader of the Independent Senators Group Sen. Yuen Pau Woo classified Bill C-45 as a "stress test" on the increasingly independent Senate.
The Senate has already passed amendments to Bill C-45, which forces the legislation to be sent back to the House of Commons if it passes. There, the government will have to decide if it will accept all the changes made by the Senate. Read more on the specifics of the amendments made, below.
If the House of Commons decides to adopt the changes made by the Upper Chamber, the bill could receive Royal Assent by week's end.
However, if the government doesn't back some of the more than 40 changes, then the bill could be in for a few rounds of legislative ping pong, where it will be passed back and forth a few times between the House and Senate as they haggle over the final wording.
Once the bill passes it is technically law, however the federal government says it will be another eight to 12 weeks before provinces and other stakeholders can be ready for retail sales, allowing for time to adjust any regulations to align with amendments made to the bill.
The provinces, territories, and municipalities have already begun setting up their legalized regimes; employers have been preparing for the question of weed at work; and law enforcement agencies are training for a potential influx in drug-impaired driving. Read more on that here.
Important moments for Bill C-45 and marijuana legalization so far:
Ministers
April 2017 – Bill C-45 was introduced by Justice Minister Jody Wilson-Raybould alongside then-health minister Jane Philott, Public Safety Minister Ralph Goodale, National Revenue Minister Diane Lebouthillier, and parliamentary secretary Bill Blair.
September 2017 – The bill was amended by the House of Commons Health Committee. After marathon testimony that saw more than 100 witnesses come before the committee, MPs from all sides agreed to cut out the height restriction on homegrown marijuana plants, as well as more than 20 other mainly technical changes.
November 2017 – The legislation was passed by the House of Commons by a vote of 200 to 82. From there it was sent to the Senate, where Conservative senators were already discussing potential efforts to delay the bill.
December 2017 – The bill was first debated in the Senate, brought forward by Senate sponsor, Independent Senator Tony Dean. In total, Bill C-45 had 13 days of debate at this stage.
February 2018 – Senators passed a timeline for Bill C-45, spelling out the schedule for the bill at each stage of the legislative process, with the final vote happening on or before June 7. This move pushed back the government's desired timetable for pot to be legal, initially expected for July 2018.
Also in February, the Senate held a special televised hearing to question the government's lead team on the marijuana bill.
Senate chamber
March 2018 – After some concern the second reading vote would be close and result in the extremely uncommon killing of a government bill by the Senate, senators passed the bill on to the committee stage with a vote of 44 to 29.
The bill was then sent to the Senate Social Affairs, Science and Technology Committee, in addition to receiving supplementary scrutiny from four other committees: the Aboriginal Peoples Committee; the Legal and Constitutional Affairs committee; the National Security and Defence Committee; and the Foreign Affairs and International Trade Committee.
May 2018 – The supplementary committee studies were concluded, with senators offering recommendations for changes that include delaying the implementation of a legal recreational regime for up to a year to better consult Indigenous people; and negotiating an agreement on the treatment of travellers at the U.S. border related to marijuana, that would include the kinds of questions that officials can ask.
As well, after 18 meetings the main committee studying Bill C-45, the Senate Social Affairs Committee brought the bill back before the Senate as a whole with 40 amendments.
These changes were mostly technical but one significant alteration to the bill was to allow premiers to ban home-growing marijuana in their province or territory if they so choose.
The Senate adopted the committee's amendments on Bill C-45 and the legislation is now before the Senate as whole at third reading stage.
At third reading senators are able to debate and pass further amendments to the bill, as has already taken place.
In an effort to structure the remaining days of discussion, in late May Government Representative in the Senate Sen. Peter Harder passed a motion to structure debate each day by theme and spell out various procedural rules.
On May 31 senators debated issues relating to marijuana production, and home and agricultural cultivation.
June 2018 – On June 1, while debating issues related to the sale and distribution of marijuana and packaging, senators passed an amendment from Conservative Sen. Judith Seidman.
Her amendment restricts the sale of marijuana merchandise and promotional products that could appeal to youth. The amendment passed by a vote of 34 to 28.
Debate and possible changes to the bill will continue following this thematic schedule up until the scheduled vote:
Monday, June 4 senators are set to tackle international and border issues related to legalization;
Tuesday, June 5 senators will debate and bring any amendments related to criminal penalties related to the new regime; and
Wednesday June 6 senators will discuss public and mental health matters, consumption, as well as impacts from an Indigenous perspective.
Pending any unforeseen circumstances, Bill C-45, the Cannabis Act is set to be voted on, on Thursday June 7. Woo, citing the over 200 hours of testimony heard on Bill C-45, said he hopes most senators show restraint day-of and offer their contribution to the debate during one of the allotted days spelled out above. He said it would be "highly unexpected," procedurally if anything prevented senators from voting.
Even if it's not until late Thursday, senators may have some parliamentary company, as due to an unrelated government decision, the House of Commons is sitting until midnight that night.
While the Conservative contingent in the Senate has already stated it plans to oppose the passage of the bill, it is yet to be seen what the breakdown of support will be among Independent senators, many of whom have expressed concern with the bill, but have given their approval to see it pass through all stages with the intent of improving the legislation. Woo said he is planning to vote in favour of Bill C-45, because the amendments that senators have passed have improved the legislation, but insisted there will be no whipping of other Independents’ votes.
If Bill C-45 passes, given it has been amended, it will go back to the House of Commons, where the aforementioned legislative ping pong could ensue. It is yet to be seen what if any changes the Senate will insist on, but it’s expected that dealing with the bill if it is sent back will be the Senate's top priority.
Late August or early September 2018 – This is the window of time the federal government is anticipating that marijuana will be fully legalized across the country.

They seem to be moving forward with much confidence. Perhaps they know their licensing in in the bag.
Sorry to hear of the problems the residents of Fort McMurray are having. The awful forest fire that burned down many houses. Also the drop in oil from oil sand production due to lower crude costs. That being said the mayor is trying to get new businesses to move into the area to help fill a void. Seems to be a good opportunity for indigenous people and Ravenquest to help relieve some of their financial burdens until tbey can get back on their feet. As far as the bikers are concerned, crime is everywhere Fort McMurray needs folks to be employed and added to the tax rolls. People need money to help them rebuild what they have lost. So it would seem that Ravenquests project may be expidited. And this situation cannot hurt them, as a matter fact it seems to be advantageous.
RavenQuest Reports Progress Across All Four Pillars -- CFN Media
GlobeNewswire•May 30, 2018
SEATTLE, May 30, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CFN Media Group (“CFN Media”), the leading agency and financial media network dedicated to the North American cannabis industry, today announced publication of an article covering RavenQuest BioMed Inc., (RQB.CN) (RQB.CN) (RQB.CN) (RVVQF). The company recently released a corporate update reporting progress across all four of its pillars, including investments, indigenous peoples outreach, consulting services, and research and development. Investors may want to take note of these developments and the company’s many near-term catalysts coming up just as adult-use cannabis becomes legal.
Canada’s cannabis industry is projected to reach C$22.6 billion over the coming years, according to Deloitte, driven by the legalization of adult-use cannabis later this year. While there are many companies active in the space, there are few that are as unique and diversified as RavenQuest BioMed Inc., which has taken a ‘four pillar’ approach to the cannabis industry to build long-term shareholder value.
Ramping Up Operations
RavenQuest BioMed invested in two new projects at the memorandum of understanding phase, including a 250,000 sq. ft. joint venture with Fort McMurray #468 First Nation and the acquisition of Western AgriPharma Limited, a late-stage ACMPR applicant with 125,000 sq. ft. of growing space. Management anticipates that these two investments will increase its production footprint from 11,000 kilograms to over 50,000 kilograms of dried cannabis per year.
At the same time, the company’s licensed (cultivation) Bloomera facility in Toronto completed the first of two harvests required by Health Canada for license to sell and dispense. The facility successfully passed all chemistry and microbiological testing on the first grow cycle and management expects a license to sell and dispense by July. Additionally, the company’s Alberta Green Biotech facility is fully funded and expected to be licensed to cultivate by July.
The company also recently signed a new lease in downtown Edmonton where it plans to open its flagship retail recreational cannabis store. The space is strategically located within Edmonton’s downtown nightlife, concert halls, conference center, public transport, and popular “ICE District” that’s home to NHL hockey and a densely populated residential area.
Research & Partnerships
RavenQuest BioMed’s Head of Government and Indigenous Relations, Bill Robinson, recently hosted the first national conference call for the Indigenous Peoples’ Cannabis Association (IPCA). Over the past several months, IPCA’s membership has continued to rapidly grow along with interest from indigenous communities looking to participate in the cannabis industry. These relationships could be extremely valuable to the company over the long run.
CEO George Robinson will also be working to expand the company’s presence by speaking at several upcoming cannabis industry events, including:
International Cannabis Business Conference: June 24-25 Vancouver, BC
The Money Show (Cannabis Investing Symposium): August 23-25, San Francisco, CA
The Money Show (Cannabis Investing Symposium): Sept 14-15, Toronto, ON
Institute of Public Administration of Canada (Pracademic policy workshop): Aug. 22, Quebec City, PQ
In addition to building strategic relationships, the company received a $480,000 grant from the Natural Sciences & Engineering Research Council (NSERC) along with its research partner, McGill University. These funds will be combined with the company’s cash and in-kind contributions to yield a total of $1.2 million over three years. These funds will be aimed at recognition, stabilization, and yield maximization of the cannabis plant.

Optimism in Fort McMurray as economy rebounds

Apparently, they had forest fires that devastated the area. Many had to leave the area. Much of the economy was driven by oil sands production and the fire coupled with dropping oil prices has greatly lowered real estate prices which has created opportunity for others.
The Unique Financial Upside of Ravenquest Biomed
http://highenergytrading.ltd/unique-financial-upside-ravenquest-biomed/
Anyone who is from Canada knows of the history of the First Nations people. It’s a story that stretches back over 100 years. Only in the last few decades have serious steps been made to better a once harsh situation.
Let’s face it, a lot of people are going to make a lot of money in the legal cannabis space. There’s no doubt that First Nations people will want a piece of the pie, and there is one company who has gone out of its way to ensure that happens by creating equity partnerships with Indigenous people. According to certain articles in UNDRIP (Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples) they have a legal right to be a part of the growing cannabis industry.
Ravenquest Biomed (RQB) has been creating partnerships with First Nations people and are acting not only as a licensed producer, but also as a consultant for construction, operations. branding and distribution for First Nation cannabis entrepreneurs. In these attractive partnerships Ravenquest will allow the entrepreneurs to maintain control by giving them at least 51% ownership.
So here’s the upside that Ravenquest has, it’s pretty simple: taxation. GST and PST is not applicable on sovereign land, bringing around a 22% tax saving right off the top. This will cause incredible margin advantages over other producers who will be liable to pay a full tax rate. In Ravenquest’s presentation they state they have a, ‘Favorable taxation regime for facility construction, cannabis production & sale on sovereign Indigenous lands.’
One piece of this land is also located in Fort McMurray, and every Canadian knows the recent boom and bust of the Fort McMurray oil industry. A once prosperous area that attracted hard working labourers and tradesmen from coast to cast has slowed down greatly over the past few years, which leaves an opening for another industry to come in and help economically. Cannabis.
Ravenquest will be building out a 250,000 square foot growing location in Fort McMurray which will surely host a number of job opportunities as well as help the local economy. Ravenquest’s focus on First Nations people is one of the aspects of this company that makes it an attractive investment for people looking in the small-mid cap range. Their unique business model can be read about more extensively in the document below.

Do a search on YouTube for RavenQuest. Good source of info and also for the cannabis industry in general.
Have a good weekend.
Seems to me that RavenQuest now has a strong investor base, particularly evident yesterday when the selling was so much higher than buying and the S/P held fairly steady. Certainly don’t want to jinx us but it seems we have hit a bottom in the high 60’s, low 70’s.Guess we shall see.

Cultivating the Cognac of Cannabis Strains

PALM BEACH, Florida, March 27, 2018 /PRNewswire/ --
Marketnewsupdates.com News Commentary
It is expected that 2018 will be the milestone year that Canada legalizes recreational cannabis, signaling an end to a long period of cannabis prohibition in the country. In a historical parallel, the 20th century witnessed a 14-year period of alcohol prohibition in the United States, and today, alcohol is a multi-billion dollar mainstream market. Big brand names that now dominate the alcohol industry do so because they created brand loyalty over time through research and development that produced the most popular elixirs. In the cannabis market, Aurora Cannabis Inc. (TSX: ACB) (OTC:ACBFF), Supreme Cannabis Company Inc (TSXV: FIRE) (OTC: SPRWF), Canopy Growth Corp. (TSX: WEED) (OTC: TWMJF), Maple Leaf Green World Inc. (TSXV: MGW) (OTCQB: MGWFF) and RavenQuest Biomed Inc. (CSE:RQB) (OTC:RVVQF) (Frankfurt:1IT) are companies that are using research and development strategies in a race to cultivate the 'Cognacs' of cannabis.
The Canadian cannabis industry has already evolved into what Deloitte estimates is an $8 billion market - and it is expected to keep growing. As the recreational use market evolves, new scientific knowledge is being developed. Great scientific minds are working to identify and sequence what will make a strain better - and ultimately more popular.
Like developing the bouquet of a fine scotch, cannabis needs to go through this research and development transformation as well. RavenQuest BioMed Inc., a relatively little-known Canadian cannabis company, is building on a knowledge base to increase scientific understanding of cannabis genetics, with an endgame in mind to gaining consumer trust through delivering a consistent product, a key step towards developing a brand.
Mapping the 'Pot Genome'
Scientific knowledge is somewhat limited since cannabis has been listed as a controlled substance for many decades. In this new age of cannabis consumption, cultivar (the scientific term for strain) recognition is going to be important. Consumers will want to know exactly what they are consuming, and they will likely develop loyalty towards the brands they like.
Loyal Cognac lovers don't order VSOP brandy - they order Cognac by name. Legendary liquor baron Joseph Seagram used research and development to master alcohol distillation, and out of that alchemy, the famed Seagram's Seven Crown Whiskey emerged. In the parallel world of cannabis, brand recognition will emerge as specific cultivars gain popularity. Scientists know this, and they are already studying the genetic structures of cannabis plants.
DNA became a household word when scientists famously mapped the pig genome years ago, and scientists are now mapping the 'pot genome'. RavenQuest BioMed Inc. is one contender that has taken a highly scientific approach towards developing strains that are unique enough for consumers to identify with and ideally develop a brand affinity for.
The company has hired experts in genetics, botany, and biochemistry, and has partnered with scientists at McGill University in Montreal who are doing cannabis research and development at the academic level. The research team is focused on key issues facing the cannabis industry surrounding cultivar recognition, identification, and stabilization. Dr. Donald Smith, who famously patented technologies for improvement of crop yields, has isolated, identified and mapped out plant genetics. Research and development in a laboratory environment moves the cannabis industry away from 'grassroots' and towards pharmaceutical grade production.
Building the Ultimate Bud Brand
All of this research is ultimately aimed at improving cannabis strains to create 'bud brands' that will appeal to sophisticated recreational cannabis users. "Original Gangsta (OG) Kush" is one of the most popular mainstream cultivars, and has been cited for making up "the genetic backbone" of west coast cannabis varieties. Avid cannabis consumers order OG Kush by name, and the cultivar has been completely DNA sequenced. RavenQuest BioMed Inc. purchased 1,200 DNA snippets of many cultivars, including OG Kush, to be grown - as well as to obtain plant breeder's rights for newly developed OG Kush cultivars.
The research team is creating numbered codes based on cultivar recognition, where digits represent either sativa, indica, or a hybrid. The company separated out the cannabinoids (CBD), which are known to provide pain relief for the medical market, and the tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), which is the psychoactive ingredient in cannabis used for the recreational market. Then they measured the performance within each cultivar.
These processes are important because the future of the cannabis industry will be focused on cultivating healthy plants of the utmost potency and purity. In the medical market, this can protect patients from unwanted side effects and ensure pain relief, and in the recreational market, it can ensure the quality and consistency of the experience. Companies like RavenQuest BioMed Inc. are creating cultivars that could potentially dominate the cannabis market, such as high-end brands like Cognac and Grey Goose dominate in the liquor market.
Scientists are also working towards bringing drug identification numbers (DIN) to the cannabis industry, so consumers will be able to reference the DIN on a product prior to purchase. This happens in the pharmaceutical and nutraceutical worlds - and it is coming to the cannabis world. There will be numbering, sequencing, and efficacy testing that will certify that the product is consistent. This will create the foundation for naming branded cultivars in the cannabis industry, similar to how the alcohol industry names a VSOP like Cognac.
Orbital Gardens: Producing Pure and Potent Plants
Consistency isn't the only ingredient needed to create a world-famous cannabis brand. Once the brand becomes popular, a challenge will be developing that brand at scale. This is an area where RavenQuest Biomed Inc. has an interesting edge. The company created what they call Orbital Gardens, which are architecturally unique to the industry. The Orbital Gardens optimize space with strategic placements. Most cannabis producers are focused on adding square footage, rather than using existing square footage more efficiently.
The architecture of the Orbital Gardens has mastered the efficient use of square footage and lighting by taking advantage of vertical space. Each Garden positions the plants so they are 'orbited' around a massive, bright light source - like planets orbiting around the sun. Imagine hundreds of plants rotating 360 degrees around the light and harnessing the power of photosynthesis. Orbital Gardens also recapture and recondition water and nutrients, feeding powerful, PH-balanced, nutrient-infused water back to the plants' root structures.
Orbital Gardens yield 300 grams per square foot. That is double the industry average of 130 grams per square foot - and it sets the stage for production potential that can satisfy even the highest levels of demand that will inevitably arise from creating a mainstream commercial cannabis brand.
Green candle
“RavenQuest BioMed is one such licensed producer and recent developments indicate the company is on the path for shrewd growth, both in terms of production capacity and of geographical diversity. Upon completion of its recent agreement to acquire a British Columbia-based late stage LP applicant, and assuming full capacity at all facilities, the company anticipates having 51,000 kilograms/year of production capacity spread across Alberta, Ontario and BC.”
Just to give an idea of potential dollars:
51,000 kg= 51,000,000 grams= 1,798,972 oz x $209.00 per oz retail canadian= $375,985,148 Canadian dollars.x .78= $293,268,415.44 US dollars.
Not certain % of retail $’s growers get but this could be great potential income.
Estimated usage in Canada by 2019 /703,000 kg, current production of approximately 300,000 kg ( from memory ) leaves a shortage of app. 400,000 kg per year which needs to be made up leaving a vacuum need to be filled by some small producers, and current large producers. How much RavenQuest will get.
Part of RavenQuest business is in the services sector where they service and teach other growers about quality of product and how to increase production yields. They have already developed expertise and should be in great demand for quality products. Time will tell.
Much more buying than selling and yet the S/P goes down....hmmm.
RavenQuest Smartly Increasing Cannabis Production Capacity Ahead of Legalization -- CFN Media
GlobeNewswireApril 19, 2018
SEATTLE, April 19, 2018 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- CFN
As full legalization of adult-use cannabis approaches in Canada, licensed producers have been expanding growing space in anticipation of greatly increased demand. At the same time, with each province setting its own rules for distribution and sales, many LPs have been trying to diversify geographically so they can compete in local and regional markets. With the Canadian recreational cannabis market expected to reach upwards of $10 billion in the next few years, the stakes and potential rewards are high for those LPs that execute smart expansion plans over the coming quarters.
RavenQuest BioMed is one such licensed producer and recent developments indicate the company is on the path for shrewd growth, both in terms of production capacity and of geographical diversity. Upon completion of its recent agreement to acquire a British Columbia-based late stage LP applicant, and assuming full capacity at all facilities, the company anticipates having 51,000 kilograms/year of production capacity spread across Alberta, Ontario and BC.
New British Columbia Presence
RavenQuest recently announced a Memorandum of Understanding to acquire 100% of Western Agripharma Ltd., a late stage applicant with designs on building a 125,000 square foot production facility in Port Mellon, on BC’s Sunshine Coast. The relationship began as a consulting arrangement between the two companies, a model RavenQuest is perfecting as it turns its extensive consulting business into hard assets.

Ravenquest Signs Mou To Acquire Western Agripharma Limited
April 3, 2018.......
Western AgriPharma Limited is a late stage applicant with Health Canada in the development of a 125,000 square foot facility, purpose-built for the production of cannabis in Port Mellon, on British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast.
“The Western AgriPharma facility would be RavenQuest’s first 100% owned, purpose-built, large scale facility to incorporate our entire suite of proprietary grow technologies” said George Robinson, CEO of RavenQuest. “Using our proprietary grow methodologies, 125,000 square feet is more like two or three times that footprint, when you factor in what our Orbital Gardening can produce in grams-per-square-foot” he continued. “This MOU is the culmination of what began as a simple services contract which has evolved into a potentially transformative addition to our expanding portfolio of licensed facilities. It truly illustrates the power of our services division to generate deal flow for our investment division. We believe we can continue to execute on this strategy, moving forward.”
BC’s Sunshine Coast is located a short ferry ride away from Greater Vancouver, one of Canada’s largest cannabis markets, with over 2.5 million residents” said Robinson. “With our significant presence in the Alberta and Ontario markets, adding a British Columbia facility is a perfect compliment and a natural strategic fit” he continued.
Kevin Smith, President & CEO of WAL, commented on the MOU, stating “RavenQuest has been a class-A from the start of our relationship. We have always had tremendous confidence in RavenQuest’s industry-leading expertise. That confidence has grown even more over time. We are very excited about the prospect of joining of a truly unique, top-tier cannabis company with unlimited potential.”
