Glad you are feeling better. He was a great guy.I remember when he was in his 60's.He would take his wife gambling in AC in his big Caddy. He ended up a multi-millionaire.He did lots of Government aircraft work with the big boys. The old timers always have the values and teach well if you listen.Time goes on.....
I have a question for you Janice.I know investors hub is an investment site.I have many friends like you that talk about other interesting topics. In general it seems like most posters just want to talk about the next million dollar baby runner.I post general questions on a few select boards once in a while and almost no one responds. My last posted question was about a possible hot item going into xmas.Almost no response.I could make a person 50/60k a year via mall kiosks in the right situation.I guess my bottom line question is.Why are so many posters near sighted on ihub? Its a big world with lots of opportunity. The next pumped penny stock is not the answer.Just thinking out loud from what I have seen over the years.Bob :))
Hey Glassy,Been a tiring week.Malls losing tenants~Preparing for Xmas etc.One of my business/management mentors from my younger days also died.He lived a full life and helped many.He was the one that started my biz journey in life. How about he was married 65 years. These days 6 years is a lot.The world has changed.
Robert E. Andres, 88, a lifelong resident of South Scranton, died early Wednesday in the Mountain View Care Center. He was married for 65 years to the former Mary Helen Needham.
Born in 1920 in Scranton, son of the late Ernest and Beatrice O'Boyle Andres, he was educated in Scranton public schools and graduated from Scranton Technical High School in 1938. Robert was a Navy veteran of World War II, serving as an aviation machinist mate 2nd class aerial gunner with the Combat Air Service Unit F-11 in Okinawa. He was a graduate of Aerial Gunnery School in Quonset Point, R.I., and Aviation Machinist School in Memphis, Tenn. While stationed in Okinawa, he received accommodations for his expertise in aviation and aerial tactics, which helped save the lives of his comrades. He received the Pacific Theater Battle Star and the American Theater Victory Medal.
Before serving in the Navy, he worked as a lead set-up machinist for Bendix Aviation in Philadelphia. He later started Modco Inc. and Modern Machine Shop, family-operated businesses that he owned and managed for more than 60 years.
Robert was a member of St. John the Evangelist Church and its societies. He was also devoted to St. Ann's novena, which he regularly attended. He enjoyed reading, gardening, traveling and many outdoor activities at his farm in Covington Twp. However, he was fondest of spending time with his loving wife, children and grandchildren. His family was always at the center of his life, whether it was through teaching his children how to plant a garden in their backyards or telling tales of his youth to his grandchildren. He was a man of great wisdom, strength, patience and endearment, and because of the example he set, these qualities will surely be exemplified by his family.
The family would like to thank the staffs at Mountain View Care Center and Hospice of the Sacred Heart for their kindness and support.
Also surviving are a son, Robert G. Andres and wife, Kathryn; a son-in-law, Frank T. Yakupcin; a daughter, Judith A. Walsh and husband, Leonard; nine grandchildren, Robert D., Jennifer, Michael, David, Sarah and Joseph Andres; Kaitlin Andres-Yakupcin and Alesia and Leonard Walsh; nieces, nephews and cousins.
He also was preceded in death by a daughter, Maureen Andres-Yakupcin, in June 2002; two grandchildren, Marie Andres and Matthew Andres; three brothers, Joseph, William and Girard Andres; and a sister, Mary Barrett.
The funeral will be Saturday at 9:30 a.m. from the Miller Bean Funeral Home Inc., 436 Cedar Ave., with Mass at 10 in St. John the Evangelist Church, Pittston Avenue and Fig Street, Scranton. Interment, St. Catherine's Cemetery, Moscow.
Friends may call today, 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John the Evangelist Church, 1217 Prospect Ave., Scranton, PA 18505; or St. Ann's Basilica, 1233 St. Ann's St., Scranton, PA 18504. For online condolences, go to www.millerbeanfh.com
Nice,I have been pickin and giving tomato's to friends and family.I was actually able to give out some green beans also. You know the trouble we had with the weather as far as the G beans went.I am going to the Thunder on the Boardwalk air show in AC.Then I need two more weeks off before the holidays(mental preparation).Retail has been tough on the mind this year.Bob :))
Hey Janice,Haven't been around much lately.Xmas contract time.Retail is just a mess right now.I am pretty sure I get two NBC "The Office" kiosks this year.NBC moves slow.Besides their store in NYC.These are the only two mall operations in the country. Also looks like I nailed two Barnes and Noble kiosk deals for Xmas.I am soooooo Tired.Bob :))
Hey Pinkie,I noticed the squirrels are getting a little nutty(lol)the last two weeks. They have even been digging in my garbage.Seems a bit early to be gathering for winter with the heat here in the NE.Whats up with that?
Republican leaders need more luxury jets for globe trotting vacations
Peter Cohan
After losing an effort to block $2 billion more for one of President Barack H. Obama's successful initiatives -- the "cash for clunkers" program -- The Wall Street Journal reports that two leading Republicans are using taxpayer money to take their colleagues on vacations around the world.
Fortunately, their demands are leading Congress to buy more luxury aircraft which at least will benefit two American companies -- $350 million for Boeing (BA) and $198 million for Gulfstream International (GIA). But with 6.5 million Americans out of work, does this send the right signal?
Those two Republicans are prominent in the House and Senate. House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-OH) is leading five other lawmakers on a trip around the world; and Senator Richard Shelby (R-AL) is taking a group of senators and their spouses to Europe for three weeks. These are just two of 11 separate taxpayer-funded August 2009 junkets for our Congress.
What is most interesting is where Congress is taking these luxury aircraft: Kuwait, Germany and Austria are the three most popular destinations. I cannot imagine why it is important for taxpayers to pay for these trips, and they do raise lots of questions, here are two:
Why can't Congress people travel on commercial aircraft and pay for that travel with their own money?
What possible constituent benefit can come from Congressional travel to these countries?
Meanwhile, the demand for new luxurious aircraft for such Congressional vacations could cost taxpayers over half a billion dollars. Between the Pentagon and the House, a budget has been allocated to acquire three Gulfstream Vs -- $66 million a pop -- and five business-class Boeing 737s -- at $70 million per aircraft. The total cost for these aircraft would be $548 million.
Does this make sense? Just remember what cheating-husband John Edwards said during his campaign for President: There are two Americas. Ninety nine percent of us live in the America whose taxes go to pay for the upkeep of the other 1 percent, which includes Congress.
By the way, it's not too late to stop this outrage. The budget has yet to be approved in the Senate. So you can send this post to your Senator and let him or her know your feelings.

Hey Harvesters,Looks like the accumulation I suggested between .0001/.0003 on lotto play dcnmq is finally paying dividends.Looks like accumulation by someone.Lets get a nice roll in or new biz direction.Reading no dilution.Trading less than estimated shell values I have seen.Have a great weekend.Bob :))
The whole cast of bobble heads coming soon.I received pictures from NBC this week. They look fantastic.Going to be hot items this Xmas.Bob :))
Hi Langy,Not sure with wave but still like it.Was their any filings lately aka dilution?Acls creeping up.Bob :))
Hey Benz,Hearing more and more pissed off people every day in the malls that voted for Obama. He is not taking care of the Middle class which drives the economy. His trickle down plan giving the big boys millions will not work.Small business~The middle class and REAL job creation is what drives the economy.None of the above is happening.Infrastructure(highways)job creation is a laugh to even the dumbest of people to help the economy.I am a optimist that ain't tooooo happy.Bob :))
Cit needs to survive cha-ching.If they don't retail will dip even harder than the sector already has going into xmas. One of my retail biz owner buddies has been trading it with success.I have a lot of holiday situations going on now and won't be trading until Sept.Bob :))
Thank the Lord.Thinking ahead in the markets and biz is tough these days.I ALWAYS look 6 months out and have for over 16 years.Very hard to tell what is the truth and what is not anymore. What the Government says about the economy recovering and what I am hearing from friends all over the country is not jiving with what they are saying.Short term trading is the way to go.Bob :))
So Far so good.I am going to take pics and try to post them.I am not a good tech guy.More of a bare bones numbers digger.lol
Sun Sun Sun............
Every other day lately.I got 4 tomato's on my upside down thingy.lol Bob :))
I watered tonight.I thought the same thing.Didn't have to water much this year.Basically getting a ok year with tomatos.Lettuce was a bust.Sugar snaps and green beans turned out pretty good.
Janice,In the winter the weather men are wrong 90% of the time. The rain/sun has made my green beans come to life.Picking them every other day now.Bob :))
Yea,I got a few dozen green beans the last week.I am really happy about the green beans because it was a tough year with the cold and rain.Bob :))
Next year I will try Potatoes again.I live in the NE.Will look for tips from you. What part of the States do you live?I get lots of Green beans~Tomato's and Sugar snaps(Lettuce in a good year).Hard time with peppers also.Bob :))

Yea,The Humidity is a killer.I do not count late thunderstorms as rain.If it is Sunny all day the weather geeks should not say rain with clouds for the day.HeHe
Thanks,Nice move today for the flippers.Bob :))
Thanks Glassy,I am filing them away.Retail is a industry that you have to watch and pounce when the time is right.I do believe July sales will be ok.Based on some moves today I think I am not the only one.If the retail stocks run into August based on July numbers being good.Ride them and sell. Many retailers release monthly numbers. That will be it for a while.Bob :))
Ahh,Rain yesterday.Nice today.Tornados with destruction in the Poconos. Now that is unusual.
Yea,I am looking at all the cheapies with a chance to double when the economy turns or when consumer confidence heads north.Usually a 6 month lead time.Back in February most retailers doubled and went higher. That was an anticipation run. They did basically hold their doubles off the bottoms. Then second q did not work out and consumer confidence went south. It is actually a good thing many held their doubles.I watch the sector close as I am a retail biz owner. You know my views. Now that you have me thinking(lol). What is the Big and tall retailer.I forget the company and symbol off the top of my head.I am thinking they have a nice niche also along with the overweight problem in our country.Bob :))
With our heat and sun I would think your cherries should be coming along fine.Cutting down on my lettuce section next year(disaster this year).Doing more Sugar snaps. They are so sweet raw~in a salad or cooked. You should try them next year. They basically climb and are done. They are not like green beans that keep producing.
Heaven with fresh tomato's.I just did a little pickin/watering.I got a few dozen sugar snaps~cherry tomato's and GREEN BEANS.The green beans were a hard one this year with the weather(Happy as I love G beans). They came around finally.I did notice the sweet 100 cherry tomato's are sweet but a little tangy this year.Amazing what a month of sun does to a garden.I am getting enough tomato's now that I giving some to friends.Bob :))
