Not fast enough for me LOL The humidity has gone up 12% in the last hour. UuuuuGH!
It's getting bright again here so it's not looking good for any rain. And that one clap of thunder was so promising LOL
Everything I see seems to be going South.
It's very dark outside and I can hear thunder...but on the radar it doesn't look like we're going to get anything at all in Bowie...it's going South of us. It's just a still and thick outside as it has been. I don't want anything severe but I wouldn't mind a decent thunderstorm.
The insects are having a hard time flying it's so damn humid out there.
EDIT: And I just got an alert on my phone that route 50 just before Interstate 301 is closed due to buckled roadway. WOW. Route 50 is a major MAJOR highway.
Awww.
•As of 2:00 p.m., temperatures were at 100 degrees at Reagan National Airport, making Sunday the fourth straight day of triple-digit temperatures in the area. This is only the second year (1930 being the other) that temperatures have been over 100 degrees since records began being kept in 1874.
Nasty weather for sure.
Nope. We're under a severe thunderstorm watch until 10pm. It just got really really dark outside so maybe we'll get some rain. I don't hear any thunder or see the trees blowing or anything...just big black clouds.
At the time it was full of food (no room)...but that would have been a good idea had I thought of it.
If I had clothing on that was any looser it wouldn't have STAYED on LOL! And that wouldn't have been good on any level.
It wasn't bad to start with until I had to drag the big bag of soil around.
LOL I felt bad enough putting the stupid thing in the trashcan to begin with...but I wasn't going to bury it and didn't think animal control would come by for an animal in a bag!
Next time...I hope there never IS a next time...but if there is...I'll just call the city and see what to do. Maybe they would have come into my back yard?!?
I just went out a little bit ago to water everybody...then realized the dirt in all my buckets needed to be topped off. So I did. And almost passed out before I was done. I took a nice freezing cold shower and since I'm not going anywhere and no one is coming over...now I'm in my jammies for the night at 4 in the afternoon LOLOL!
Upstairs yes. With a double fan on the out setting in the middle window of our bedroom. And the temp reading on the fan has an indoor and outdoor reading....yesterday as well as today it's reading the indoor as hotter than the outdoor. Downstairs we have the front curtains open a little for the dogs to see out.
74°...oh Dear GOD!! Ours is on 66° or 68° at all times. We have this teeny tiny A/C unit that is really better suited to a small one story house instead of this 2 story one...it could be on 2° and it still wouldn't cool this place.
A lot of it has to do with the house and all the windows are old so we have no heat or A/C retention. One of these days we'll replace the windows and that would make a HUGE difference.
We were in the process of slowly fixing things up in here everything kind of stopped when I couldn't work anymore 15 years ago...one income isn't fun.
I know what you mean about missing your own place. We were only 3 nights away from home (and came by here almost every day to cmake sure everything was ok) and I was homesick.
LOL! Oh it was dead. It had marks on it's neck like a vampire got it and a pile of black sludge under it when I picked it up.
How is the vacation Flo...relaxing?
Hi Andy...how's Rocky?
Nasty!! And the thing is...there's no mistaking which can is which. The trashcan is a little brown round thing with a removable top and the recycle bin is a HUGE blue square bin on wheels with recycle signs and CITY of BOWIE written all over it. AND it has the paperwork still attached to it because she's NEVER used it.
I can't figure out why he did that. I doubt he did it on purpose. Just a brain fart I guess.
The yellow finches around here are pretty calm. I love watching the pairs of them sitting on the sock feeder.
Very nice KC!
I'm sure. When I put that dead opossum in our trashcan it stunk for a week. And I had that thing wrapped up in 10 or 12 paper towels as well as a regular size kitchen trash bag and 8 or 9 Walmart bags over that.
I'll definitely check them out. I think i'm going to curl up in my recliner and catch some zzzzz's.
Nice chatting with you Janice...nighty night
Sickening.
Very cool. I'll check them out tomorrow. We have a few really good nurseries within 10 or 15 miles...I don't know why I don't go there. Costs less at HD or Lowe's I guess. Even Walmart has some decent looking plants at the beginning of the year.
But I'll sure check into your link.
Thanks Janice!
Wow...that's a lot of dead fish.
She just got home this afternoon and I'm not sure where he went...not far I'm sure. She's not the type to leave stuff like that no matter how mad (or right!) she is...so I'm sure it'll be gone by tomorrow evening. I hope so it freakin STINKS!
We used to drive downtown (into Washington DC) to the wharf on Main St. to get crabs and shrimp...OMG it was gross down there. All that seafood mixed with the smells of S.E. DC (yuck)...not to mention it was right on the stinky Potomac River...woooweeeee it was bad.
The food was awesome though so we put up with it!
Is the shipping expensive? My dill isn't doing well...the basil is doing ok...I should replant it. And the spearmint is doing just fine in it's cramped quarters LOL!
I let the dogs out a few minutes ago and it's just hot and miserable out there...even with the breeze. The STINKY breeze!!
I found out that the smell I thought was gas or a dead animal the other day is my neighbors recycle bin. She's been away for a week and her stupid ass room mate put a bag of garbage and food in there instead of in the trashcan. She said there's maggots all over it. It's going to stink until HE gets home because she said she's making him clean it. As he should. Moron.
I might just go with Home Depot or Lowe's plants next year. Although half the fun (for me anyway) is watching them grow from seed.
I know one thing...I'll only keep as many plants as I have containers for them! And no more planting 50 different things...I'm going to pick a few favs and be happy with it.
I saw that...I might have to run outside in the middle of the night just to remember what it feels like LOL!
I was showing my cousin Bev my garden and telling her how big my cuke plant was last year...by the look she gave me I don't think she believed me LOL
I hope I saved the package for the cuke seeds I planted this year (fat chance but a girl can dream LOL) because I don't want the same kind next year...they're little and not very tasty.
Yes they are...and I can't wait!
My Gypsy's have brown spots on them and the orange bells aren't doing much at all...and my poor cantaloupes...there are 4 or 5 of them on the vine but they're just not growing. The cucumbers (all 2 that are on the vine) are skinny and yellow looking. Not sure they're even going to make it.
I don't know if it's the heat or what but my garden isn't doing very well this year.
85° isn't too bad...you can still go to the pool when it's 85° but in the 70's is a little chilly for swimming.
But I'd take 70's everyday for sure! I love 'light jacket' weather.
I have been snipping off all the ones that are starting to turn pink...I have a counter full of nice firm LITTLE maters. I can't seem to get them to grow very big. I think next year I'm going to sucker them earlier. Maybe if there aren't as many branches and leaves they'll concentrate on growing some tomatoes.
And the 100's are starting to get flowers. I have some pictures from last week I just haven't had time download and resize them.
I'm just sick of it altogether. Our A/C is jammin but it's still so hot upstairs we're going to sleep down here. And I put the fan in the window up there as soon as we got in this evening...it should have cooled it off by now.
Or maybe they're sick of the heat and trying to hurry it up LOL
We're supposed to get the thunderstorms as early as noon tomorrow. I'm glad...just hope we can keep the damn power on!
It's a mess all right. But I have been hearing the 'goodbye summer' crickets so there's hope in ear shot anyway.
There was also a Metro Train derailment yesterday because of the heat...and several roads had sections that buckled in VA
Me either.
