Just remember the timeless adage: "buy the rumor, sell the news" Don't get me wrong I love INO but I think there could be a little bit of that going on here. Of course if the Merck rumor is fueling this and it does come to fruition that news will drive share price higher.
MG - You are off the mark with your comment. This is no pump and dump. Volume has been off the charts for over a week. People are accumulating. Insiders have bought and HAVE NOT SOLD. Promising pre-clinical data from a proven technology. By comparison ACAD has no product to sell and their market cap is $1.6 billion. Biotechs always come with high risks but to say this is a pump and dump is an ill informed comment.
Hope and dreams NVGP, hope and dreams...enjoy the ride.
Look at ACAD. Went from > $150 million market cap to $1.6 billion in under a year all based on their lead drug Pimavanserin showing great safety and efficacy in PHIII trials. I went in @ $1.50 and sold when it broke the $6 mark. Should have held longer now that it's hovering around $20 but still made a decent profit so can't complain.
What this shows is the potential INO has in their pipeline. ACAD's Pimavanserin is expected to generate $2 billion/yr. in on and off label uses to treat a number of neurological diseases should they receive FDA approval. They will not file the PFUDA until later this year. INO, while still in the early stages, has showed tremendous potential in treating/preventing several large diseases and illnesses, i.e. HIV, Flu, cancer, etc. I think you can see where I am going with this. If just one of their vaccine treatments proves itself then INO has a blockbuster drug on it's hands. However, should several of their vaccines demonstrate safety and efficacy in large disease sets we're talking about tens of billions in revenue. At that point a share price at $10 would be a bargain and $100 may be fair value. Long way to go to get there and I'll be looking to add on any dips to the $1.40 - 1.50 range. Enjoy the ride everyone!
I get the bullish tone of that NYSE Post but what is with the poor grammar!?!? "Recently, the stock of Inovio Pharmaceuticals Inc (NYSEMKT:INO) has found to shot up a larger 28.97% with the total number of 15.1 million shares being traded". Huh!?! It says it was written by Lori Miller who graduated from the University of Scranton and has received awards from the AP and NPA.
Anyways, long and strong INO. EPIC times ahead!
The article provides a good summation of where RXIID is in terms of product development and cash burn rate:

I agree. AMRN and INO's pipelines are apples to oranges. We need to be cognizant that INO is still in early innings. I am looking to add and hold long because the potential this company holds is mind boggling. It also causes me to pause and think 'to good to be true?' With any bio you must be vigilant. I made a fabulous profit off ARNA but I am learning a lot from Amarin's launch. I look at INO as another learning experience. For me it's not just the profit but also the knowledge which comes along with closely following the market and individual stocks.
Just ask Amarin shareholders why INO might want to partner. Amarin's Vascepa received FDA approval 7/26/12. Instead of partnering or being bought out they chose to go it alone. They raised cash, hired a sales force of 250 and are slowly seeing increasing RX numbers. However, the share price has dropped from a post approval high of $15.60 to the current $5.31. They have another PDUFDA date with the FDA for the much larger Anchor indication but their experience so far demonstrates the difficulty a small bio has with marketing and selling a drug on their own. And yes, I'm a frustrated AMRN shareholder.
Long INO. Great management and extremely promising initial data. It's going to be fun watching this company and share price grow.
I live north of Boston near Salem. If you ever need someone to see how your seats are holding up at Fenway I'm your man! Think they'll be in the hunt for sure but I'm really excited for the Pats!
I was replying to MiamiGent and his claim the company has debt. Long INO and looking to add on any dips to 1.20 - 1.30 range.
Are you and 'sickledsystems' over on StockTwits one and the same or just coworkers in the same brokerage? Sickledsystems just appeared on ST last night bashing INO and now you are on here soft bashing at the same time. A couple of shorts? hhhmmmm.
I currently own four bios (AMRN, CPRX, INO and RXII) which is my limit. In INO @ .58 and the past month's action has me eyeing an exit from another bio's position to free up cash and build a bigger position in INO.
Anyone know what was said during interview with CEO at 10am this morning? I was hoping for some good news but price action and volume tell a different story.
Yes, like you I brought some of my family on the INO train a few months ago. Now I have my parents following INO daily. I called them this morning and told them about the PR and to watch PM price/volume. Already looking fantastic! Long and strong INO!
Same here StockSavant. This board is fantastic. I have migrated here after Howard at ST decided to shut the stream down. INO is the real deal. Very exciting 12 months coming up! Oh yes, full on tropical heat here in Boston as well.
Huh? BS PR's? Are you sure you are on the right board. I think a pr touting a peer reviewed study in a prestigious journal is pretty legit.
I'm no pro but I'm holding 7500 from .58 and resisting taking profit. Normally I would but with Inovio mgmt, science and now results of that science looking so favorable (not to mention a PL which is very deep) I have to just hold and go for the ride up. Someone smarter and riskier than myself may take profits and I say more power to them. I'm looking to add on dips and build my position.
Been in INO a year. Got my father into it as well. The science is sound and results are proving this. Management is passionate about their work and this passion will be reflected in the pps and ultimately the lives saved. Holding long. Thanks to all the great insight provided by others here. Knowledge is power!
I'm in the same boat as you. AMRN, INO, RNN and RXII all dead money for me this year. However, I know they'll all have their boom time and ill have long-term gains. Just frustrating that most of my stock trading $$ is tied up until then
