OT Happy for D.Clarke-
He's a regular guy and a grinder- Rory is freakishly talented but he's still young- jury still out if between the ropes he is more like Tiger or ends up like Sergio, who if he were a stock his symbol would be TOVC..you know lots of potential....!!
Sweep..
You do realize that there is 'real time' and then there is 'TOVC-time'- Right??
In the latter, a week = a year, and a year = a decade.Keep those expectations exceptionally low and you can roll with the punches- and manage the mundane. Maybe someday we will blindsided with good luck as our CEO says we have all the other bases covered..
I for one will be grateful
that DK will be hard at work over the Holiday Weekend trying to monetize atleast some of the items in this Treasure
Chest, as he's on record that he's "a 24-7-365 kinda CEO.." Problem is our previous one said he was too..Yet another Fourth passes under a buck...( i.e.sign something with somebody in 2011-Lazurus has been laying here in the tomb a long, long time...)
Does this car have the Iso torque??
If not it isn't really relevant to the company. If it does, then like last year, I expect he'll win every race he enters. Even still that only interests me if it gets this product into a production model or two in my lifetime, which I'm guessing, may have a postive impact on the valuation of the company and move the share price in a positive direction.
Where the company is valued..
at present shouldn't be a surprise to anbody who has spent some time here. I have a hard time as well not looking at the historical perspective of being a Torvec shareholder. Introduced to it via a major private holder who was a family friend ( was..-just kidding a real nice gentleman with a strong track record of personal business success). It is hard, but certainly helpful to readjust the expectations. They set the bar publically and privately very high. Go back and review JG's retirement letter- Even on the way to the Next Dimension, he was selling "it's just around the corner, very soon etc." Not sure we were lied to but I'm comfortable in saying, in my opinion the state of development of Torvec's technology was very much over stated- It would have had to have been or we would have been a 500 Million dolllar manufacturing company a few years ago, pumping out FTV assemblies, pumps and Iso Torques.
Yeh I can get resentful at the lost cost of money, how much time I've spent here trying to stay postive and stay plugged in on what may actually be happening- as opposed to what were were being sold. The one thing that gives me any encouragement is this- If Kaplan and team can get just one partnership going, or one JV started that commercializes this technology with some level of recurring, sustainable revenue stream- well it probably is gonna be a pretty big order..I think in that scenario I may still have a chance to make a return that maybe, just maybe, made this mindnumbing wait almost worthwhile.
Regards
Ahh the old Otter line from Animal House..."Hey You F'upped you trusted us".... certainly nothing culpable like Madoff but one could argue bad business nonetheless...
may require something stonger but sure I'll
buy..Either we were the unluckiest company in history
or there was some major hyperbole going on over the years..It's literally impossible to argue that premise...Whether I ever make a plug nickel here remains to be seen , but I finally feel like we are being given a realistic assessment on the state of development and likelihood of some success. Face it shareholders were grossly underserved IMHO by prior BOD- and I think you could say "What BOD..."?? Tell the truth it is easier to remember...Final stages of a deal, letters of intent blah blah - we know them all by heart...
Atleast DK is putting out time tables, not speaking in those sweeping general terms of 'very near future' which we have since learned was code for decades...
Biggest negative to that filing..
is we are certain to talk about nothing else but
shorting & mm manipulation for the next 12-18 months too...uggh..Dread needs to share his Ihub recovery program ?? was it cold turkey or you get some kind of patch...??
http://www.acg-consultants.com/
Remember this outfit ? We engaged them for approximately year and a half for lobbying, consulting- paid them, I believe in stock- and never heard anything concrete resulting from the relationship.
I wonder if they will be another historical footnote with respects to past Administration's marketing plan..??
Regards to fellow weary travelers,
Leitrim
Will there ever come a day
when DK will give us something else to talk about other than
shorting.??naked or otherwise?? only Torvec can create demand in this stock that is main issue and they have been at it a long long time..not CEO maybe but the COB and the President sure have...
Yep..
They were always talking about the walk off Grand Slam..settle for a drag bunt to get on base in '11 ??
Excellent point..
Never play the lottery- figure it is a voluntary tax, and we have enough of that in NYS..but
when I do lay down a bet I go big !!
So Far I look like a Giant dummy here but atleast I have a few friends to commiserate with while I toil...
All this talk about the BTG
since the 'parking lot sighting' takes me back takes me back to about 2000-01 . Ole JG had me all convinced that Keith was going to be ROC's next Billionaire ?? Me, all I was hoping to do was knock down a college tuition for a then two year old...Well that two year old is gonna be 13 in a couple of weeks..good thing I had a back up plan ! maybe I'll have enough salvage with this investment for book money or maybe buy him a clunker..Hope he gets a good professor that hammers home the difference between investing and speculation !! I had those types but thought I was smarter than them apparently or worse listened and trusted people that convinced me that they were (smarter !!!)
Best of luck- DK said last Update we could use a little...
Which leads to a question..
With Kaplan pretty much saying there would not be
a commercialization event in 2011, is there any reason to expect the stock to trade much at all the next 8 mos?? What does the forum think would cause the stock to trade ( rising- hopefully) short of some sort of sale/jv agreement/ partnership...??? another high profile BOD..nahh that'll only juice it a little- They have to turn this into $$$ imho- short of that it'll be more of the same..
You're as subtle as sledgehammer-Fade!
Can't speak to his lifetime as a businessman - but I will say with his public predictions he was on par with Dick Vitale as far as accuracy. Ole Dickie V said VCU didn't even belong in the tournament, that they were 'taking a spot from someone more deserving'....watch him back pedal on that one this week...
Actually it's 12 years old..
just sayin :)
Obviously you have a little company..EOM
Maybe just a board meeting..That's almost a dozen cars these days..Not complaining think it is a good thing..I have kind of tried to put this on the back burner for now yet again. Although I didn't attend this years Annual meeting as I was out of town, Kaplan's comments that they "would not be making money this year" ( quoting someone here I think ??) left me to the impression this will trade like it has for the last many years..sideways with occasional lower drift??...So far in 2011 that is accurate. Why not go on hiatus- check in once a month..I'm gonna try..
I remember something about
Neri but think it was about a third of that and paid in stock..
When has TOVC had any cash ??
Lost Mojo ???
Stock drifted lower on light or no volume..now sits idle awaiting some type of development ? How long before it is reasonable to expect some execution of the increased focus on the Hydraulic Pump and or the Iso torque..?? Ford, GM have been evaluating for about 2 years ( ?), Hyundai wanted to move to 'the next level' what, about 6 mos ago..?? Maybe all this shakes out at this years meeting which regretfully, I don't think I will be in town to attend.
BTW...Many Thanks
to D.K. for spelling out the meaning of "productize" in the last PR..In the interim I had kinda put two and two together. Nonetheless, I have forwarded this new word, including the definition, to Merriam-Websters for inclusion in their next edition.
Jim used to Quote Vernon
on that one..the longer they don't the sooner they're gonna" I think was the quip....
Yeh I remember Zendo..
and if you recall I am a human trainwreck on a keyboard..
Scuttlebug is an annoying insect spreads seeds of hope but then just goes dormant..or better still it can be anything you like..distant cousin to scuttlebut..just kidding..Yeh I'm playing this out til the bitter end..like the fiddlers on the Titanic..or a triumphant Phoenix -rising from the ashes..
Hope there is something to hold onto..not
that I am that connected- if at all to TOVC inner workings, but the scuttlebug I am getting is that nothing is imminent (sp?)
Regards and good luck..
Every year for the past ten or so..
I keep thinking during this kind of of weather, will we ever see winter weather related applications for the FTV's- plowing lots, rescue vehicles...etc..am I the only one...? they may have alot of sand in Panama Beach Fla, but it TOVC's backyard we have different traction challenges...Hope to hear Dick 's assessement of where we are where we are going before late January but on the surface things seem to have settled down...
Nothing at this point..
it is the OTC-BB Roller coaster
back to $1.75 as of this minute..
Hope we all live to see a sale that gets the market Cap requirement to get a NASDAQ listing- would think that's a goal
of new BOD..gonna be hard for them to make their 250K shares
pay off on this monopoly board game...IMO
I hear you Zendo ..
and I understand..And I think they are off to a good start in their communications with shareholders-style and content. As Sulax states it probably does wait til late Jan for Next Annual Meeting but I really was hoping for confirmation, update, or a "this never went anywhere" type of update to JG's earlier state of the state as outlined in article with RBJ:
"Q4: James Gleasman, CEO, Torvec Inc.
Rochester Business Journal
August 28, 2009
Q: Torvec and Rochester Institute of Technology recently announced an agreement to create a Safety and Efficiency in Automobiles Laboratory on the RIT campus. What do you hope to accomplish with the new lab?
A: Our basic goal is to establish SEAL as a center for advanced automotive and related energy technologies with a specific focus on enhancing and refining manufacturing processes so that automotive companies can bring these advanced technologies to market in the most efficient and environmentally friendly manner possible.
Obviously, as far as Torvec is concerned, we anticipate that our association with SEAL will enable us to further evaluate our advanced automotive technologies, leading to improvements in the production and manufacturing of our products. This will enable us to provide RIT faculty, staff and students with the opportunity to participate in the ongoing refinement and enhancement of advanced technologies designed for specific applications to the worldwide automotive and related energy industries.
We believe SEAL's success will enhance Rochester's image as a leader in the development and production of advanced automotive products, enlarge the pool of qualified engineers entering the auto industry and provide increased employment opportunities for skilled personnel.
Q: What other projects or agreements has Torvec been working on in recent months?
A: We currently are engaged, at various stages, with 17 distinct projects for private companies, the government and the U.S. military. These projects involve Torvec's Full Terrain Vehicle, IsoTorque differential, infinitely variable transmission and constant velocity joint. Recent developments concerning these projects include:
-- FTV-In October 2008, we shipped an FTV to the U.S. Air Force for evaluation as the Air Force's Advanced Combat Firefighting Vehicle. After vigorous performance runs in a variety of hostile locales-including sandy terrain-at Tyndall Air Force Base in Florida's panhandle, the Air Force requested us to make certain modifications to the vehicle. We have nearly completed these modificationsat our Mount Read Boulevard facility and anticipate shipping the FTV to the Air Force for final review early this fall.
Our goal is to secure the contract for the production of the Air Force's Advanced Combat Firefighting Vehicle. As part of that process, and depending upon the availability of government dollars, we would have to decide whether to manufacture the FTV in the Rochester area or license our rights for manufacturing and distribution elsewhere.
Obviously, we anticipate that our success with the Air Force will lead to other contracts, for example, from other branches of the military and from state and local governments for environmental, emergency, homeland security and other, similar uses.
-- IVT-Over the past several months, Hodges Transportation Inc. (also known as the Nevada Automotive Testing Center) has evaluated our IVT technology on behalf of the Office of Naval Research for use in military vehicles, including observation of our IVT's operation on-site at our Mount Read facility. We understand that Hodges has submitted a highly complimentary report to the office with respect to the functionality, fuel-efficiency capability and emission reduction potential of Torvec's IVT.
Hodges was engaged by the Office of Naval Research to evaluate IVT technology for installation in three different types of military vehicles, including the next-generation Hummer. Our goal is to pursue this opportunity.
-- IsoTorque differential-Torvec is building design-specific models of its IsoTorque differential for two domestic auto manufacturers, a Pacific Rim OEM and a well-known electric car manufacturer located in California. This specific-design model will fit approximately 50 car models worldwide and improve the performance, traction, safety and overall vehicle efficiency of each of these models.
With the new CAFE standards recently put in place by Washington, companies are more inclined to adopt new ideas. One such goal is the use of our IsoTorque differential in front-wheel-drive vehicles to improve traction to 85 percent of an all-wheel-drive version of that vehicle while getting 2 mpg better fuel economy. The IsoTorque-equipped vehicle would have improved traction, handling and safety while not having the added expense, weight and complexity of an AWD vehicle.
The Pacific Rim company is interested in seeing the IsoTorque's benefits in its new rear-wheel-drive sports car as well as other models. The electric car manufacturer has high hopes that the high efficiency and other benefits of the IsoTorque would make it ideal for use in its all-electric vehicles.
In addition, we are working with one of the world's largest commercial vehicle manufacturers to improve its axle design so that it, together with Torvec's IsoTorque differential, will result in greater traction and efficiency for trucks. Our new axle design has been approved, and the building of working prototypes is scheduled to begin in early 2010."
General Question for Forum...
Do you think with the changes in Management and BOD that we will receive updates with respects to some of the existing commercialization efforts, including but not limited to:
1) Hyundai, Ford, GM on the Iso Torque.
2) Hodges Testing of the IVT on behalf of the US Navy.
3) FTV showcasing by the Air Force for Firefighting
marketplace in US.
4) The Testing of the CV Joint on behalf of the Mining Equipment
Supplier based in W.Va.
JG mentioned at one point there were 17 projects that had been ongoing....Is is unfair to say what happened...?
Understanding Non disclosure agreements, some of these balloons were floated by prior CEO were quite some time ago..Is the testing done..where did we wow, where did we fall short etc....I.E that sole source language from the Air Force was presented to shareholders like.. "this is only a matter of time.."..does testing take a number of years..or was there something that they didn;t like...etc..
I hope you guys are right and this recent activity means something is in the wind..I hope it is a matter of getting something in the end zone from red zone..or have we continously been punting the ball and playing defense all this time...
Nice GM ties-we are developing..
our chances of getting products into vehicles has to be improving..don't they ??..finally the technology is being equipped with commensurate talent to market it.
I tried to take the survey but It wasn't up..My quick take on the Directors..Overall it is very good news,it is a quality Board. Saunders is smart, tough and no nonsense. The Management team will be held accountable by him alone. Heinricy is very logical pick- we have our car guy and a high profile one at that. I also have had past dealings with Mr. Mills-wasn't crazy about his business method at times, but he is/was tenacious and we could use a little of that right now. I think if one did a complete review of his history however, his road to "success" wasn't all that different than AF's. All just opinion of course- that and $1.80 gets you a medium cup of coffee at Dunkin Donuts.
Now that's funny...
you..less negative..?? is that like kinda pregnant..???
So far So Good..
under new CEO..moving swiftly and boldly..and the stock is trading again and trending up..not putting the cart before the horse but can't imagine what happens if they land any kind of meaningful order....I'll be holding for awhile..
< Would love to see another run-up in price following the annual meeting...maybe $4-$5 a share>
I'd like to see that type of run prior the Annual Meeting based on some type of Commercialization Event to be honest..GM, Ford, Hyundai have been driving testing the ISO torque for awhile now, Airforce has had the modified FTV..who knows maybe something will break..it would not take alot of positive press about revenue, job creation etc for this to get nice pop..it has in the past on just the fantasies of those things.... (granted some of those fantasies got legs because of where we were told we were in negotiations etc..water under the bridge now like you said..keep the thing moving, get that big rock unstuck and some revenue in the door be nice to add these welcome developments....
Change is good here
and new CEO deserves some time to explore assets and chart a course- but three key realities that a successful friend of mine once said after I referred them to Torvec have not changed in the past few weeks:
1) They still "don't make anything"
2) They "don't sell anything"
3) They still don't "have any money"
Dick- change one of these things after these 11 years and you have my attention, and probably unconditional admiration !!!!
Well
he's pledging to work nights and weekends( 24-7) to "reward its shareholder base for its long and steadfast support of the company" so far that's music to my ears..Have a good night Dick, I gotta get my kid to basketball tryouts...
I asked the same thing..
He is 65 but I also heard there may have been some dissent
with Board about funding their growth plan..just scuttlebutt....like everything else here... !
I agree for the most part
on both counts, but He is a local guy who has good reputation and one would think alot of friends who may not be in this. At some point one would think they will/might take interest in his latest endeavour?? Could be dead wrong and then we sit til some sort of deal is consummated. He has alot to work with and a marketing background- let's let him do his thing, sit back and maybe get back to even for starters..that would be a nice start !
When and Why did he leave Pictometry??
Anybody know??they were supposed to be having IPO
sometime not so distant? he has ties with RIT as well..Now If Dr Destler can get Tom G. excited about potential Rochester Manufacturing Job creation...??? Tom has $$ we don't.
My asking a fellow long a question
won't impact the stock price one way or another..sorry.(Funny I don;t even think the tone of the post was negative..) If posts that questioned the direction of this investment were responsible for my rather ugly paper loss, then I could pile on Sulax, Dread, Fadeaway,Allnumbers, etc etc etc.... I invest to try and make money-when I have a lot more of it then I'll do it for fun and games...Responsibility for the trajectory of this historical investment begins and ends on MT Read Blvd-just like any other company-They'll get all the kudos and attaboys in the world if they can turn it around..
