I expect another down day today. There is just too much uncertainty with the impending tax increase that will go into effect automatically.
Its too bad the politicians couldn't come up with some kind of compromise, but hey who am I to complain. I will be shorting again early and then closing out and buying back on the dip.
good luck to all.
Happy holidays! eat, drink, & be merry!!!
Andy
I sold my last bit of stock at $4.3
I'm waiting for the price to drop below $4 and/or consolidation
just my opinion,
Andy
are you a broker?
my wife is applying for manager of global applications
Today, I've made 5 trades in SYNC so far, and I've pocketed about $800 doing it. 2 shorts & 3 longs. not a bad day. I got one more sale to make, if the price rises above $5.7
I sold all my NOK when it hit $4.3 and i've been using the cash to play this stock. SYNC is a lot of fun to trade, but you gotta work it. I'm waiting for NOK to break $4 and/or consolidate to buy it back.
just my opinion
Andy
I've posted a few questions on their wesites, just asking about this seminar, and that talk. And I asked if there was any plan to videotape anr/or post these presentations online.
I did not receive any response whatsoever, so I've shied away from their FB page.
Andy
here is their FB page
http://www.facebook.com/SynacorInc
Do you know what the time frame was, when they started that short attack, until they announced the buyout?
If this were happening to SYNC, which would not surprised me, do you think the announcement would happen before the Q4 earnings release?
Andy
now is a good time to buy.
looks like consolidation. Intraday price range is tightening. I'm pretty certain SYNC will turn up, it just a matter of time. Synacor is still hiring like crazy, with 35 open positions. Interestingly, they are hiring 3 user experience directors...
http://ch.tbe.taleo.net/CH11/ats/careers/requisition.jsp?org=SYNACOR&cws=1&rid=1060
and this is good for a chuckle...listed as one of their benefits...
"25 cent vending machines"
There are so very few shares available of SYNC to short, 25K at last check. All we need is a few big hands to move in and get some momentum into this stock. Otherwise, I fear that SYNC will not move until Q4 revenues are released.
All my opinion,
Andy
I sold half today. If it dips under $4, I'll reload.
Andy
It looks like AAPL is geared up to gap up, with some resistance at $550. If it gaps, this would be an excellent opportunity to sell, and wait for retest of $500 area.
Just my opinion,
Andy
they don't even list the ticker. once they update their system, a lot of shares will suddenly be availiable to short.
The problems I'm having with LVVV is mostly availiability. The problem might be on my brokers website, but when I check for availability, it shows how many shares there are, yet when I go to execute, it says the shares are not available.
And then the LVVV ticker seems to come and go. It even shows up as SF Blu Vu Inc, must be out of date on that a bit.
I've been able to short every day, and I wait for the aged trades to settle before adding, to minimize my buy-in risk. Fingers crossed...I haven't been bought-in yet. But this stock is weird. It's like trading a phantom. very frustrating.
Andy
This is the hardest stock to short...
Ya, it's been a whole hour since NIA/Lebed sent out the "Big Momentum" email...
next destination: $5
I wonder if they held a meeting to discuss their insider trading???
everyone the same day. maybe they need xmas spending $$$. After the IPO was delayed by 4 years, they probably all owed their wives new Mercedes.
Andy
LumberDoktor - Absolutely, you called it first!!!
What are your thoughts on the cup & handle?
Where do you see SYNC trading down the road?
It's good to see you on this board. I follow you on FB/Twitter & have seen your YouTube video.
Keep up the good work!
If you have time to annotate a chart here for use, we would all appreciate it.
Thanks again,
Andy
good luck getting any kind of comment out of Meredith
anyone see a cup & handle forming?
Andy
another theory...
while we are on the topic of what's keeping Syncaor down and where is all this crazy selling coming from...and why is the daily volume is so astronomically large compared to the float????
one of the Market Makers shorted this thing when it was at $18. They were able to avoid the REG SHO regulations, simply by washing the shares. They continue to sell, pehaps using partners to trade with, and continually trade by hitting the ask. Insiders will get frustrated amd sell at the abnormally depressed valuations.
They will continue to do this until the MMs close out their short position.

I call this the smorgishborg theory, a combination of all the theories on this message board, and credit should be given to all who have contributed.

everyone's opinion,
Andy
This may come back to haunt Synacor in the long run. There may come a day & age when they want to sell another round of offerings. They are going to find out the investors will not be excited to help them at that time.
just my opinion,
Andy
I guess that answers my question about releasing news and insider trading. Apparently, thre is no waiting period...
Andy
I agree that there must be some type of elaborate share washing going on.
What would happen to their scheme if an institutional investor picked off one or two of the 500K asks? I think it would close down their operation pretty quick. They are almost daring someone to buy those shares. Also, they must be pro-traders, because I think they are using a high-speed trading platform. Those big bids get pulled off if the price ticks the wrong way. Too fast for a retail trader to change bids.
I can't wait for the upgrades to come, and we'll see big money moving into this stock.
Just my opinion,
Andy
Could someone with a large short position move in and buy out the company? I know it's not ethical, but is it legal?
Could they be holding down the share price and accumulating at the expense of an increasingly risky short position?
What would happen to their short position, if they bought out Synacor? Would it just evaporate?
just wondering,
Andy
That would be nice if NOK hits $4 ... it seems like a ton of resitance in the $3.90 range. Once it breaks $4, I think we will see another quick rise like we saw a few weeks ago.
Andy
when will NOK break $4 ???
do you think perhaps NIA & RAND & some other hedge fund might've conspired to held the price down? to accumulate?
very interesting...Naturally, everyone (myself included) who is long fantasizes about a takeover/buyout at some point...
do you know if Synacor have a poison pill?
I would've thought that a buyout candidate would've gone after the big investors first, like Intel, and then tried to buy up shares on the open market.
what are your thougths on this?
Andy
Derek,
good luck to you. I'm shorting LVVV as an expriment more than anything. As a matter of fact, if my shares settle in a few days, I may hedge and ride just to see what happens. If my shares don't settle, and I get bought-in, I will take a loss and learn a valuable lesson. I do not have the equity to move the price, but I think, in the end, I will profit.
I am definitely not the only one...
http://www.shortanalytics.com/getshortchart.php?tsymbol=lvvv
My problem has ALWAYS been, when I'm ready to short, there are never any more shares to borrow. So, this time I wanted to get in at the ground level and keep shorting on the way up.
good luck to all,
Andy
I'm not sure this link will work for you...
inshttp://www.interactivebrokers.com/en/index.php?key=sync&cntry=usa&tag=United+States&ib_entity=llc&ln=&asset=&f=4587&conf=am&amref=1
I'm not short on this stock, I'm long about 8K shares.
I just like to keep an eye on the shorting activity...
http://www.shortanalytics.com/getshortchart.php?tsymbol=sync
good luck to all,
Andy
It's the greater of: $2.50 per share or 100% of the share price.
It's definitely not cheap, but if you settle, and can hold, and the price never clears $2.50, you will make probably 90% profit.
improved revenues is good, but only EPS will steer this ship out of this abyss
you don't need millions to short, trust me, I do not have millions in the stock market.
Kaiser, when is a good time to short? Once the price start to drop, I can never borrow any shares. You have to get lucky...at that point, borrowing is like winning the lottery.
I hope you make nice profit$
I sold out today, but I'll keep an eye on this.
Andy
I was able to short on IB yesterday. There haven't been any available this morning.
I just checked, thare are 100K available now. I want to short before all the bid support goes away.
this board got quiet. promo done?
I love it how Seeking Alpha never publishes my comments on SYNC. Don't ever confuse Seeking Alpha with a reputable, unbiased, reporting organization.
As another investor wrote: "NIA/Lebed & Seeking Alpha are different wings on the same bird. Never trust either one."
my opinion (and someone else's)
Andy
