oilin07, thank you. I enjoy Seeking Alpha for its diverse financial analyzation. Find any stock and your likely to find a bullish article followed by a bearish article on Seeking Alpha. In the same, I have and will continue to post articles of Seeking Alpha which I find suitable both bearish and bullish. If you take a look at the Bank of America Corp. (BAC) board you'll see I have posted bullish and bearish articles and (BAC) is the largest holding I own, not to mention I am a moderator.
This does not affect me or bother me, in fact I enjoy it. I feel investors/traders these days have a closed mind and believe that if someone doesn't think like them, then their wrong about their investment choices, ideas, strategies, etc. I post bearish articles on other boards here on Investors Hub and investors/traders are easily offended and quick to defend their reasoning.
In my eyes, having an open mind and being able to except opinions is a wonderful skill to have as an investor/trader.
STOCK_GAINER6, I agree to an extent. How about if we could write a list of say, 5 public companies who have had investors who have held the longest over a period of time; wouldn't you feel comfortable putting General Electric Co. (GE) on that list? I know I certainly would. This isn't a stock that investors hold for a year or two, this is a stock that investors hold for many years. This is a stock that investors use a Dividend Reinvestment Plan (DRIP) with. I feel patience is the least of the concern. What would cause investors to lose patience?
I won't speculate weather (GE) will hold it's valuation over time. We can see that (GE) can adapt with spin-offs which will change valuations. I haven't executed enough due diligence here with (GE) to collaborate on your last point, please expand on your comment of "Interesting to discuss is also their various classes of investment products, which seems to undergo a onsiderable change as well."

Don't Touch Alcoa

Easy Money, I agree. Looking at the charts, I believe a $14 PPS could be in the very near future. This is partly contingent on earnings. Earnings are released on April 8, 2014 AMC.
Zynga, Inc. (ZNGA) could be a profitable swing trade, but I wouldn't invest here long-term. Not unless the PPS was at a level that some might find offensive, so offensive that I wouldn't share. However; looking at the chart, I believe (ZNGA) could dip in the $3.50-3.80 range.

Is General Electric A Long-Term Buy?

oilin07, however; in the same respect there isn't a significant amount of growth here with General Electric Co. (GE). This is a true "Blue Chip"; slow, but steady growth. I see possible upside potential for capital appreciation, but nothing exciting. The real "cream of the crop" is the dividend! With a PPS at these levels, you can't lose!

Zulily's Current Valuation Is Unreasonable And Unsustainable

squashjohn, thank you. I'm not the most knowledgeable about technical and chart patterns, but I am learning as I go. zulily, Inc. (ZU) did bounce off the SMA 50. I can't comment on the next move of PPS because I don't see a chart pattern yet. I see a few possible patterns that could form. These could be a Descending Triangle, Symmetrical Triangle or a Channel Down. I don't like to predict chart patterns, but if I had to I would lean more towards a Symmetrical Triangle or a Channel Down.
The Japanese Candlesticks are currently signaling bearish sentiments. The last bearish candlestick confirmed was a Bearish Dark Cloud Cover on March 19, 2014. Since then a bullish candlestick has formed, but hasn't confirmed itself. That bullish candlestick was a Bullish One White Soldier on March, 28, 2014.
Fundamentally, I believe this company is extremely overvalued. Could be a good trade, but I don't know if I'd invest at these levels.

JCB5, I wish I had invested/traded at those levels. That was roughly the time I began investing. Do you remember what the P/B ratio was during those PPS's?
SunRise90210, I had the dates mixed up. You are correct, you should have received the dividend on March 28, 2014. I checked Scottrade which I use and I have received the dividend, but the dividend is not yet settled.

Should You Hold Alcoa Through Earnings?

squashjohn, just as I thought. zulily, Inc. (ZU) found support in the $50 PPS range. Are you holding a position here?
JCB5, swing trading or long-term?
JCB5, I believe Bank of America Corp. (BAC) could be bullish in the short term. (BAC) has dipped below bottom channel resistance in the $17.05 range. Top channel resistance seems to be in the $18.20 range. The last bullish candlestick failed to confirm. We await a new bullish candlestick to signal and confirm itself. The last bullish candlestick was a Bullish Stop Loss on March 20, 2014. The channel up chart pattern seems to be forming a wedge up.
JCB5, yes. Sorry, I didn't understand.
Bank Of America: Why Buybacks Are Better Than Dividends

JCB5, 10 billion what?
lowtrade, how could I easily find out how many shares a public company has repurchased through their buy back program? Is there a website that you know of that offers this information or am I required to read the quarterly financials?
cdaniel394, I'm not sure. I know in 2013 Q2 Bank of America Corp. (BAC) repurchased $1 billion common shares at an average price of $12.60. I'll do some digging to see if the rest of the $4 billion in capital was used. I would be interested in knowing this information. I will let you know of what I find.
HEMP Money, $11.23 is the 52 week low. The current PPS is +51.60% above the 52 week low.
SunRise90210, I feel as if you have misunderstood. Bank of America Corp. (BAC) was approved for a dividend increase and share buy back for the next 12 months. (BAC) along with 29 other banks had to be apply to the Federal Reserve to increase dividend and share buy backs based on stress test results. This insures that banks have a sufficient amount of reserve capital incase of failure or collapse. Since (BAC) passed the Federal Reserve's stress test, they are allowed to increase these programs without jeopardizing the company.
(BAC)'s last dividend was on March 5, 2014. The next official dividend date hasn't been announced yet, but (BAC)'s next dividend will likely be around June 5, 2014. This date is announced when earnings are released, which will be on April 16, 2014 BMO.
I hope I explained this throughly. If you have any questions or still don't fully understand, then please ask questions. It's important that you understand.
gregque, that is one of the reasons why I like acquisition or conglomerate companies. You never know what to expect. I like to think of these companies as "Pac Man" companies; eating businesses in its path growing larger. So long as the acquiring company is healthy and takes on appropriate risk/reward.
superbird, I haven't executed any due diligence on Strattec Security Corp. (STRT). Please tell me why we all should be following? Penny stocks are a whole different ball game.
johnnypies, first let me state that sometimes even the best due diligence can result in capital loss. There are plenty of companies that investors/traders could never have seen filing for bankruptcy (hidden debt on financials) or bubbles such as the Dot Com and housing bubble. We could call these Black Swans as their sometimes referred to. Basically, these are all events that we can not predict and where due diligence would fail not due to the investor/trader's behalf; but due to circumstances.
Secondly, I had no knowledge of investing/trading when I invested here with ESP Resources, Inc. (ESPI). A friend at the time told me to go "all in" and that (ESPI) would make me hefty profits by Thanksgiving of 2011. I believe most who have no knowledge of investing/trading would pursue an opportunity of such.
Lastly, looking back at what (ESPI) once was, I believe investing in (ESPI) "was" promising. If you have the time, do some research on what (ESPI) was involved in. (ESPI) was involved in many deals in the US and had opportunities internationally as well. (ESPI) had a major fund investor who invested and (ESPI) had growing revenue along with a improving balance sheet. I could get deeper into this subject, but it would take a lot of time to write out. The point I'm trying to make, is that (ESPI) had a wonderful business at one point.
Also; you said, "So since I'm a dummy and can't navigate the old inter web please do tell where your diligence came in to play for yourself." I'm not calling anyone out in particular, just making a broad generalization of what I have observed. You seem defensive, which could lead me to believe that you in fact might be worried that your due diligence has failed you on a particular investment/trade. johnnypies, if the shoe fits; wear it. If it doesn't pertain to you, than move on. Investors Hub has many purposes, one of which to share opinions and if something offends you in someway, move on.
You said, "To anybody who doesn't understand some of us are in till the end. I'd rather wait till i recover my money or take the tax right off." Your contradicting and second guessing yourself. Are you until the end weather you profit or cease of operations; or are you taking the tax write off? Sounds like emotional investing is at play here.
