'Philadelphia Four' Face Prison for Preaching to Homosexuals

#78 Deal With Guilt _ _ _ _ _ _ _ And herein do i exercise myself, to have always a conscience void of offence toward God, and toward men (Acts 24:16). --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Guilt resulting from a wrong committed against a friend can be a cause of depression. Working on developing a clear conscience toward the one offended can help in relieving this depression.
'Philadelphia Four' Face Prison for Preaching to Homosexuals;
Here Are Easy Ways to Help Them
Dear Friend,
Four Christians face up to 47 years in prison for the "hate crime" of preaching the Gospel at a homosexual street fair in Philadelphia. Mainstream media have ignored the arrests, which occurred on October 10, 2004. The men are charged with five misdemeanors and three felonies, one of which stems from the recent addition of "sexual orientation" to Pennsylvania's "hate crime" law.
The case originated when 11 Christians with Repent America began preaching and singing at Outfest, a homosexual street event. The Christians, led by Repent America founder Michael Marcavage, were surrounded by the Pink Angels, a group of homosexuals who held up Styrofoam signs, blocking the Christians. Police arrested only the Christians. After viewing a videotape of the incident at the December 14 hearing, Municipal Court Judge William Austin Meehan dropped charges against seven other defendants, including a 17-year-old girl and a 72-year-old grandmother.
The remaining charges against four men seemed to stem from whether the judge saw them singing, holding a sign or preaching from the Bible.
"Police only forwarded an obstructing charge. It was the prosecutor's office that elevated this into three felonies and five misdemeanors," said American Family Association attorney Brian Fahling, who is representing the defendants, to Concerned Women for America (CWA).
"Preaching the Gospel of Christ in a public park should not be charged as a hate crime. Religious _expression in public places is protected by the First Amendment. The defendants' civil rights are being violated," said Jan LaRue, CWA's chief counsel.
Please call radio talk shows and bring this case to the public's attention. And please contact at least one of the following offices to register your concern over this grossly harsh criminal prosecution of Christians committing a "hate crime" by sharing the Gospel. Tell them that preaching the Gospel of Christ in a public park should not be charged as a hate crime. Religious _expression in public places is protected by the First Amendment. The defendants' civil rights are being violated.

CWA encourages
Moss likely to be fined for pretend mooning
By DAVE GOLDBERG, AP Football Writer
January 10, 2005
NEW YORK (AP) -- Randy Moss is almost sure to be fined for pretending to moon fans in Green Bay during a playoff win, according to NFL rules.
The league is looking into the star receiver's antics in Minnesota's 31-17 win over the Packers on Sunday and will announce its ruling later this week.
When asked whether the oft-fined Moss would be penalized again, a league spokesman recited NFL rules mandating discipline for ``obscene gestures or other actions construed as being in poor taste.''
A fine for the first offense under those guidelines is $5,000. Moss has not previously been fined for such action, but paid a $25,000 penalty in 1999 for squirting an official with a water bottle.
In the last year, the NFL has dealt with a couple of highly publicized situations that many fans found objectionable. There was the Janet Jackson breast-baring episode during the halftime show of the Super Bowl in February and the steamy ``Monday Night Football'' introduction this season featuring Philadelphia receiver Terrell Owens and ``Desperate Housewives'' star Nicollette Sheridan.
On Sunday, Moss caught a touchdown pass in the fourth quarter and headed toward the goalpost. He then turned his back to the Lambeau Field crowd, bent over and pantomimed pulling down his pants.
``Just having a little fun with the boys,'' Moss told a Fox reporter as he left the field. ``I hope I don't get in trouble by it, but if I do I'll take the heat.''
Moss, making $5 million this season, declined comment Monday.
Vikings coach Mike Tice said he spoke Monday with NFL vice president Art Shell.
``The league has called me,'' Tice said. ``I didn't see it until last night.''
Tice added he always thought of Green Bay fans as having ``a tremendous amount of class'' but that he didn't think they acted that way Sunday.
Indianapolis Colts coach Tony Dungy said he saw Moss' action and, ``I thought it was kind of humorous.''
``It's not the kind of thing you want to see on national TV, but I understand what it was all about,'' he said.
``Anyone who has played in the NFC Central knows what that's about. The fans in Green Bay have a tradition in the parking lot after the game where they moon the visiting team's bus,'' he said. ``It's kind of a unique send-off.''
``I had seen it seven times because when I was with the Vikings, we lost to them seven times up there,'' he said.
Fox did not show a replay of Moss' display during the game.
``It was inappropriate to replay it in the context of the game,'' Fox spokesman Lou D'Ermilio said.
ESPN declined to show the replay Sunday because, ``in the end, we decided a conservative approach, taking a breath rather than rushing to air, would be prudent,'' spokesman Josh Krulewitz said.
He added: ``In hindsight, we could have shown it once the day it happened while being very mindful of not being gratuitous about it.''
Krulewitz said replays were to be shown Monday ``conservatively, based on the NFL's and the Vikings' reaction to it.''
Last month, Denver quarterback Jake Plummer was fined $5,000 for an obscene gesture.
Moss was originally fined $40,000 in 1999 for squirting an official, but it was reduced to $25,000 on appeal.
Moss verbally abused corporate sponsors on the team bus in 2001. That resulted in the team fining him $15,000 and forcing him to attend anger management classes.
In December of 2002, he was fined $1,200 by a judge after being charged with bumping a traffic officer with his car in downtown Minneapolis.
And last week, he was chewed out by teammates for leaving the field before the end of a loss in Washington. Center Matt Birk, one of the Vikings' leaders, confronted him and quarterback Daunte Culpepper also was upset.
Moss, his hair poofed out in a giant Afro, had four receptions for 70 yards and two touchdowns in Sunday's game.
After Moss' second score and resulting show, Birk just shook his head and smiled.
``That's Randy,'' he said. ``You take the good with the bad.''

UPDATE: Homosexual Attorneys from Justice Department Advise Philadelphia Police On Arresting Christians
One Internet news service says not to expect an investigation because of the involvement of the Justice Department homosexual attorneys
Dear shane,
One Internet news service says not to expect an investigation because of the involvement of the Justice Department homosexual attorneys
A few days ago I wrote you about the situation in Philadelphia in which four Christians were arrested. They are charged with eight crimes, including three felonies: possession of instruments of crime (a bullhorn), ethnic intimidation (saying that homosexuality is a sin), and inciting a riot (reading from the Bible some passages relating to homosexuality) despite the fact that no riot occurred.
They face a possible 47 years in prison and fines of $90,000 each. Now we have learned more about this horrible travesty of justice.
According to WorldNetDaily, "Homosexual attorneys from the U.S. Justice Department Civil Rights Division not only attended (the) large homosexual event…but they advised police on the scene who arrested 11 Christian protesters, says a source in the agency." (Charges against some of the Christians have been dropped.)
The WorldNetDaily article went on to say the U.S. Justice Department is "not likely to take up the cause of the five criminally charged Christians who believe Philadelphia officials violated their civil rights."
Did you catch that? The Justice Department will refuse to investigate the treatment of the arrested Christians because some homosexual attorneys from the Justice Department were advising the Philadelphia police on how to arrest the Christians!!!!
WorldNetDaily, quoting their source inside the Justice Department, said the Christians were charged with "ethic intimidation (hate crimes) 'at the recommendation of some of our (Department of Justice) attorneys who were at the march.'"
In fact, Chief Inspector Tiano, who serves as liaison to the homosexual community, testified at the preliminary hearing that he met at least four times with the organizers of the Outfest event in anticipation of the protesters' activities, presumably to discuss how to handle the "Christians" when they showed up at the event. He also said he had 40 officers on site that day. He did not meet with any of the Christians!
There appears to be collusion in this travesty of justice that goes to high levels of both the Justice Department and Philadelphia. A trail date will be set soon.
Would you stand with these Christians who are defending our constitutional right of free speech? We are asking you to stand with these four Christians by doing the following actions.

Bush’s Brain
The candidates’ comparative IQ scores don’t conform to the cliché.
By Steve Sailer
For a moment, I thought Sen. John F. Kerry was the exception to the rule that all liberals are secretly obsessed—even though they tell each other they don’t believe in it—with IQ.
The Thursday before the election, Tom Brokaw interviewed Kerry on the “NBC Nightly News” and told him, “Someone has analyzed the president’s military aptitude tests and yours and concluded that he has a higher IQ than you do.”
Kerry instantly dismissed this news with admirable nonchalance, “That’s great. More power.”
I was especially interested in Kerry’s response because that “someone” who had estimated Kerry’s and Bush’s IQs was me.
I had long been struck by how so many liberals were convinced that Bush was an idiot compared to Kerry. For example, Howell Raines, the former executive editor of the New York Times, asked: “Does anyone in America doubt that Kerry has a higher IQ than Bush? I’m sure the candidates’ SATs and college transcripts would put Kerry far ahead.”
Yet the scarlet letters “IQ” had almost never appeared in Raines’s Times. Ten years ago, The Bell Curve proved an enormous bestseller, but the backlash against the book banished IQ from the media. Still, as politically incorrect as cognitive tests have become, colleges and the military have not dropped them. They are simply too useful in sorting large numbers of applicants.
Nor have people stopped talking privately about IQ—especially liberals, who seem to believe, with deepest sincerity, both that IQ is an utterly discredited concept and that liberals are better than conservatives because liberals have much higher IQs.
Democrats constantly sneer at Republicans’ IQs. Misspelling “potato” ended Dan Quayle’s political career, and Google lists 225,000 web pages—few of them complimentary—that include the words “Bush” and “IQ.”
In 2001, some jokers issued a prank press release claiming the (nonexistent) “Lovenstein Institute” had scientifically proven that Bill Clinton has a (Galileo-like) IQ of 182, while George H.W. Bush (who was graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Yale in 2.5 years) had a below average 98 and his son (who has degrees from Yale and Harvard) only a 91. Garry Trudeau fell for this transparent nonsense and shoved it into “Doonesbury.”
Similarly, last May hundreds of liberal websites and even the august Economist magazine succumbed to another IQ hoax, this one claiming that the average IQ in states that voted for Gore was absurdly higher (for example, 113 in Connecticut) than in states that voted Bush (87 in Utah). Immediately following Bush’s victory, this fictitious table spread over the Internet again.
In truth, I don’t believe anybody has measured average state IQs since the huge post-Sputnik Project TALENT study in 1960. If you look instead at a rough proxy such as the National Assessment of Educational Progress achievement tests for public-school eighth graders, you’ll find that Gore states beat Bush states by only a tiny amount.
A more direct comparison of the parties’ voters can be found in the 2000 exit poll, where Bush voters reported an average educational level negligibly greater than Gore voters. Gore did best among high-school dropouts and those who had undertaken postgraduate studies, with Bush leading among those in between. (Many Democrats with advanced degrees, by the way, are public-school teachers with credentials in the easy field of education.)
In the 2002 midterm elections, voters supporting Republican House candidates were particularly well-educated. The GOP won 58 percent to 40 percent among college graduates and even captured a majority among postgrads for the first time in many years.
In 2004, Bush’s majority was more downscale. If you assume that high-school dropouts averaged 10 years of schooling, high-school grads 12 years, those who attended college but didn’t graduate 14 years, college grads 16, and postgrads 18, then Kerry voters claimed 14.64 years of education and Bush voters 14.48 years or only about six weeks less schooling.
Democrats’ denunciations of the president’s IQ bemuse me because Bush strikes me as a lazy but clever and unscrupulous operator who, ever since he quit drinking in 1987, has contrived to get whatever he wants out of life. As I wrote in the Oct. 11 American Conservative in a review of John Sayles’s film “Silver City,” in which Chris Cooper portrays a moronic politician with Bush’s mannerisms, “In the president’s lone losing race, his 1978 run for Congress from West Texas, the victor stressed Bush’s two Ivy League degrees. Bush resolved never to allow himself to be outdumbed again. And the Democrats haven’t outsmarted him since.”
Back in 1999, Charles Murray, co-author of The Bell Curve, and I estimated from Bush’s SAT of 1206 (about 1280 under the easier scoring system adopted in 1995) that his IQ fell somewhere around the 95th percentile. The late leftist historian Jim Chapin estimated that Bush’s IQ of roughly 125 probably falls in the second quartile of presidents, a little below average, while Al Gore, who scored about 10 points higher, was in the third quartile. You don’t have to be a genius to be president.
In contrast to Bush, Kerry is from Massachusetts, where intellectual pretensions are popular. Yet there was little hard evidence that Kerry was as brilliant as his flatterers claimed. Unlike Bush, who attended Harvard Business School, Kerry went to plebian Boston College for law school, and his transcripts and test scores appeared to be locked away.
Then a Navy vet named Sam Sewell pointed out to me that the Kerry campaign had posted online an obscure military report giving the cryptic score Kerry had made on the IQ-like test he took when he applied to Officer Candidate School in 1966. After three weeks of research, I determined that Kerry had achieved the average score for applicants to OCS.
In comparison, Bush scored somewhat above average on the Air Force Officer Qualifying Test, which was normed against applicants to the Air Force Academy. Those are both good scores—officer applicants are well above the national average. The two men were clearly fairly similar in mental ability when seniors at Yale. Based on my research into the details of these two similar but different tests, if I had to bet, I’d wager Bush would have scored higher if they had both taken the same test back in the Sixties.
When Kerry insouciantly replied to Brokaw as if he didn’t care what he scored on a 90-minute exam 38 years ago, as if he believed that all that he had accomplished since then was the proper measure of the man, I was impressed.
But then Kerry broke the spell by quibbling about my research, “I don’t know how they’ve done it, because my record is not public. So I don’t know where you’re getting that from.” Evidently, IQ mattered to Kerry, too.
A few days later, Brokaw went on Don Imus’s radio show and revealed just how much it bugged Kerry that I had said Bush probably had a slightly higher IQ. After the cameras had stopped rolling, Kerry had rationalized to Brokaw, “I must have been drinking the night before I took that military aptitude test.”

NASB). ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------The depressed individual often ruminates over the past - past sins and past mistakes. PENNSYLVANIA CHRISTIANS FACE 47 YEARS IN PRISON FOR READING THE BIBLE IN PUBLIC
Philadelphia charges Christians with hate crimes, inciting a riot, and using a deadly weapon.
Bill O'Reilly reported on the situation on Fox News Channel.
Dear shane,
What we have been saying has now happened. You cannot quote what the Bible has to say about homosexuality in public or you will be charged with a "hate crime." Philadelphia is only the beginning. If we fail to take a stand here, this "crime" will soon be applied across America.
In the 27 years of this ministry, I have never witnessed a more outrageous miscarriage of justice than what is happening in Philadelphia. Four Christians are facing up to 47-years in prison and $90,000 in fines for preaching the Gospel on a public sidewalk, a right fully protected by the First Amendment.
On October 10, 2004, the four Christians were arrested in Philadelphia. They are part of Repent America. Along with founder Michael Marcavage, members of Repent America—with police approval--were preaching near Outfest, a homosexual event, handing out Gospel literature and carrying banners with Biblical messages.
When they tried to speak, they were surrounded by a group of radical homosexual activists dubbed the Pink Angels. A videotape of the incident shows the Pink Angels interfering with the Christians’ movement on the street, holding up large pink symbols of angels to cover up the Christians’ messages and blowing high pitched whistles to drown out their preaching.
Rather than arrest the homosexual activists and allow the Christians to exercise their First Amendment rights, the Philadelphia police arrested and jailed the Christians!
They were charged with eight crimes, including three felonies: possession of instruments of crime (a bullhorn), ethnic intimidation (saying that homosexuality is a sin), and inciting a riot (reading from the Bible some passages relating to homosexuality) despite the fact that no riot occurred.
You may think I am exaggerating. I’m not. Our AFA Center for Law and Policy is representing these four individuals at no cost. We will take this case all the way to the Supreme Court if necessary to get justice.
There is so much more about this case I don't have room for it in this letter. We have prepared a 25-minute VHS/DVD in which two AFA-CLP attorneys discuss the case in detail.
Please help us with our expenses in representing these committed Christians. With your tax-deductible gift of $15, less than the cost of a cup of coffee once a month for the next year, we will send your choice of either the VHS or DVD. Watch the VHS/DVD, then share it with your Sunday school class and church. This VHS/DVD should be required viewing in every church in America.

Packers return to practice, still shocked at Reggie White's death
December 29, 2004
GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- The Green Bay Packers returned to work Wednesday still expressing shock at the death of Reggie White, a defensive star and inspirational leader when he was with the Packers from 1993-98.
White, 43, died after being taken to a hospital in Charlotte, N.C., on Sunday -- just two days after the Packers clinched their third consecutive championship of the NFC North Division with a 34-31 win at Minnesota on Christmas Eve.
Coach Mike Sherman gave his players a four-day break following the game, so Wednesday was the first time they were back together since the death.
``I'm shocked that Reggie White has passed away. I don't know if I'll ever quite accept that,'' quarterback Brett Favre said after practice.
``It hurts. I miss the guy,'' said right guard Marco Rivera, a former teammate. ``But, it won't hit me until I see him Thursday, and then it's really going to sink in.''
Favre, Rivera, Sherman and team president Bob Harlan are part of a contingent of executives, staff members and veteran players planning to take a chartered plane Thursday to attend the private memorial service for White in Charlotte.
``Football is football. But we're talking about Reggie White passing away,'' Rivera said. ``We need to go down there and pay our final respects. He's a legend. He will go down as one of the greatest defensive linemen of all time. One of the best people I've ever known.''
Also planning to attend are fullback William Henderson, safety Darren Sharper, kicker Ryan Longwell, long snapper Rob Davis, center Mike Flanagan and quarterback Doug Pederson. Retired Packers Gilbert Brown, Mark Chmura and Frank Winters also are to make the trip.
White is the Packers' career sacks leader with 68 1/2 and ranks second all-time in the NFL with 198.
After signing with Green Bay as the league's first marquee free agent in 1993, he became a catalyst in the team's resurrection as a championship contender after two decades of lean years, ending in a Super Bowl victory after the 1996 season and a runnerup finish the next year.
The White family asked Favre to be a pallbearer.
It's the third time in little more than a year that Favre has had to bury someone with whom he's been close. His father, Irvin, died of a heart attack Dec. 21 last year, a day before Favre guided the Packers to a 41-7 win at Oakland.
On Oct. 6, Favre's brother-in-law, Casey Tynes, died from injuries in an all-terrain-vehicle accident on Favre's property outside Hattiesburg, Miss. A week later, Favre's wife, Deanna, was diagnosed with breast cancer.
``It will be difficult tomorrow,'' Favre said. ``To say I've gone through it in the last year is an understatement. I don't know if that ever makes it any better because I don't think that ever becomes easy. I'm as shocked as anyone and still will be.''
