Omni,
I am a little worried about taxes. I have never owed money before this point because in my first few years in the market I lost more than I made. In fact I am still "carrying over" my losses from 2001. However, this year I began with $2,000 in my portfolio in March (using tax rebate and house refinancing money -- and selling all my remaining IParty stock at a paltry .25 cents a share or so!) and I have turned that into $22,000 as I write this. (Jones Soda just put me over the magic $20 K mark. So that was an 11-bagger for me in 9 months thanks in part to my spending many many hours studying the fundamentals and stories behind HUNDREDS of companies (I held SSTR for three months this summer before getting bored with it and selling it right before it broke out and quadrupled!) but also due in no small measure to Traders Nation, and to you, Bill, and Lance Berger and what you teach about breakout trading on this board. The most thrilling part of it all is that I FEEL LIKE I CAN DO IT AGAIN next year... and 10 or 11 times 22 is... getting ahead of myself I fear.
But here is my question: Roughly how big a chunk will the Taxman take out of my portfolio? And does experience tell you to wait the six months maximum before paying it?
Thanks for any response on this.
Johnny C from Boston
USVO ... on watch? Nice volume / price movement
Had meant to keep track of this a little tighter.
Closed strong at .22. The breakout would be .25.
Very interesting fundamentals with the announcement of their new anti-video-piracy copyright/watermark product officially being released in January, while they also said they would be accepting any advance orders, according to PR... Plus they have a patent infringement lawsuit pending against Movielink which may have big revenue impplications. From my reading of the case, it seems that me that US Video is well within their right to sue and has the upper hand in the lawsuit, but I am no corporate business attorney. Just a trader looking for a breakout! And USVO did edge closer to the .24 HOY today.
May check the volume Monday and jump in, we'll see. Had a great week with JSDA so I'm humming happy Christmas tunes today. Thanks to Omni and again to his awesome board participants for all the ongoing technical analysis, breakout watches and alerts, ideas, foresight, sharing and enthusiasm. It is THE BEST board there is.
JSDA, Omni what is your price target
I was so thrilled when I checked in today... what a move. I've bene in since 1.66 and don't want to get too greedy, but it looks like it couold go even higher tomorrow...?
JSDA nice uptrend going, but I wonder
can this OTCBB stock ever really ROCKET now that it's a $1 plus equity? Or will it always be just a steady trickle? It continues to make new highs though, and $2 is within striking distance, you have to believe.
I like the fact that their "put your photo on a bottle of Jones Soda for Christmas" promotion completely sold out at $34.95 each. I think part of the rise right now is due to the breakout from a healthhy technical base at $1.50 ad it is also due to the fundamentals of a hot product. This company may be about to realize cult-stock status in 2004, especially after all the Turkey and Gravy flavored soda publicity around Thanksgiving...
Bottom line is I own a whole lotta soda right now! Eyeing $2 soon.
What's "falling star"? I have FLCR 200DMA as .29.
Still easily reachable if not today, maybe tomorow
What was your point, ekim?
Why an .08 spread on JSDA?
It had been only a one or two penny spread all morning before it went on the run, then, when it really started to go there appeared this .08 spread and trading came to a standstill. Does anyone have any experience with such a thing and could explain to me maybe what this means? Positive/negative? It looks to be on a breakout here... or am I wrong?
By the way, board members, great call on WIZD this morning.
I took a big drink of JSDA at 1.63
I actually love this soda, and it's great to see the stock actually breaking out finally on volume.
Got bored with HEC after the action earlier, sold for a nice profit from Friday.
Other 2 stocks I've been watching CALVF and CGLD look
real good here. CALVF.OoB might take out yearly high Monday at this rate. It's setting up a run into the close.
CGLD signed a 13 million dollar deal with Royal Gold and they're nearing 52 week high any day too
Sold my EXBT and bought HEC on $ale rumor
Thanks for the heads up Rollin
I checked out the Yahoo message board poster who goes by the moniker Kind Buddy. I read dozens of his past posts. He seems like a legitimate guy who is in the line of producing oil and gas in Texas... might just know what he's talking about. If he's being honest about the sale PR from HEC coming out Monday with the buyer being Stallion Energy, I'm going to owe him a very nice Christmas present. If he's not telling the truth there's still little downside risk at this price, .68.
Also HEC"s own recent press release promised income from a big money sale of one of their holdings "by the end of 2003."
Riding my FLCR into next week
Easy decision based on news yesterday and todays chart
FLCR Full Circle may come full circle
Can it close above .20??? Getting interesting. As a holder for the 20s found the technical sell off on excellent news out after the close last night comical. Who says Martha Stewart's the only one guilty of insider trading? Not that it involved any posters on this board who simpy spotted the run in the making, but did you see that run up on FLCR BEFORE the news announcement on Thursday? Prtty funny. It still has greta legs here.
Dont forget about EXBT Dee
This board is AWESOME. Led by Omni, the master of the breakout trade!
EXBT hitting .90 now
Thank you OMNI for alerting me to this earlier!
OMNI, when'll EXBT be considered breakout, plus .90?
Are you into any here yet?
I'm feeling $1 tomorrow.
In EXBT @ .87 and holding FLCR for a run.
Looking for a strong close on EXBT. And holding FLCR for hopefully a run into mid 20s over the next few days.
VLTA pretty hot today nearing 52-w high
Not a lot of volume but... interesting to watch
FLCR may have finally broken through... keep an eye on it
Significant uptick there to .15 on the ask
In DCUT at 11.5 retrace. News was too good.
Not that much risk with a little patience at this point I think considering the news. That release said this is a viable company that is going to sign other countries to contracts soon and isn't going out of business. Sort of like what happened with FLCR at the 7/8 cent level recently.
Bought AMSW at open today. And I thought it was gonna
bust out past 52-week high there for a sec til it pulled back. Still looks strong though. I'll just sit on my shares for a while see what happens.
FLCR looks quietly strong
It needs to be slapped maybe, but very little to no selling because of fundamental upside potential. It looks good to me to hit or higher in the near future. Been holding since .08. And see no reason to sell.
ZKID bought in on news, McCyberDude did you have insider
info or what??? Just kidding , nice pick
Check GTEL upticking on volume
Was chicken about getting into this one Friday, but I thought the CEO's shareholder letter a few days back might send this one higher, looks now like there might be a chance for a run past the previous high. Opinions?
FLCR is moving this morning
If it can get above .15, watch out 20s
DC in MYNG at .24 Thank you
I had made a mental note to take a hard look at MYNG Monday morning, kept scanning the market and eventually flushed it out of my mind because of a lot of other stocks that looked good... (Maybe I should write it down next time.) Then you reminded me with your post. You're right, it looks extremely good right here.
Upticking everywhere could be wild day!
I agree XM
FLCR news out
This may get it to .15 today, where it was briefly a few days ago, or higher
Locus, excellent stuff on FLCR
Thanks. I did some DD also and am right with you there about the huge upside potential. And I'm sitting on a big pile for that break into the upper teens as well! Today wasn't bad, sideways and stayed above the five-day MA.
AMAR, I'm in at .51
What is it with me and .50 centers today. Holding CTRI and AMAR into tomorrow. Let's see what happens.
CTRI now at HOD at .48, asking .50
Glad I didn't get shaken out earlier. (In at .47)
All-time bid & ask diferential: PRGF
52-week high today, but what a joke right now
Calling All CopS(tocks)! Watching LENF closely
If it hits .35 I'm in.
In CTRI at .47 , Holding FLCR
Watching closely but I think FLCR will hold for a continued rise today and tomorrow...
CTRI gap and run
Wow SYBD .70s in rearview EVO
Nice call
BB, the FLCR buying at the close
wasn't tame when you consider that at the time the news broke the volume was at about 600,000 shares and twenty minutes later the closing volume for the day was ove 1.2 million. Imagine what the volume would have been if it had a full day to play out? I could be wrong, of course, but I feel there may have been many more traders in your position who were wondering if this stock is for real and didn't pull the trigger. A lot of major holders in FLCR like myself won't consider selling until we get at least a double, which if you look at the week's activity prior to the greta news coming out most of the buying was at .08. I see this as a solid buy to .16 at least.
Locus, did you buy more FLCR at .09 +?
I assume you did and if so good move. That was very prescient call you made Tuesday evening with no way of knowing that news was coming out at 3:40 p.m. Wednesday.
I checked FLCR's Big Chart for six months, which is roughly 200 days right? And the 200 DMA is within striking distance as early as tomorrow I now believe. Originally, from looking at the rough Yahoo Finance chart, I'd estimated thaty the 200 day line hit around .25, but looking at the BigChart for 6 mos. it now looks to be more accurrately placed around .18 -.20! And who knows where it might run after that, .48 maybe before a retrace?
Is that how you read it?

from Locus
"Am all over FLCR and have played it several times. This is very thinly traded and can run very fast. FLCR is under accumulation right now and I am expecting the breakout at any time. Once it breaks out over .095 it will quickly move to .12 IMO. Maybe even higher on this run."
FLCR: Look at 200 DMA chart
I found it on Yahoo Finance Technical Analysis. Look at the 3 and 6 month charts with the 200 dma. The Redline, indicating 200 DMA and the price line which is now running on great news and buzz, appears heading for the black priceline like a car crash!
It broke the 50 DMA today (.10/.11) on news.
This is a healthcare stock that ran to $2 less than a year ago on rumors that the Kentucky legislature would sign a contract. The bill died. But now, with the new legislature convening a month from now on Jan. 4, '04, and new management and a new lobbyist in the statehouse (yes, I've done way too much reading on it) FLCR appears to be on a collission course with that 200 DMA. I think if today's news had come out early in the day, we'd be looking at mid to high teens right now. So track it at the open tomorrow.
ECEC: Watching a .02 stock become a .30 stock
Wow, now THAT's entertainment! What a rush -- and I'm not even in it! Once again, as Omni has said, is the OTCBB not the best?
FLCR nice price/volume uptick just now
Hit .09 with some big buys all of a sudden
FLCR agree with you GK, the action near the close Tuesday seemed to indicate strength in this stock.
I have been in FLCR ( at .078) since the price rise a few days ago, and there really has been only a light selloff to the hard bounce off the 50 prcent retracement at .071. FLCR looks itchy for a break above .10 if not tomorrow - -which is possible -- then maybe only a day or two after that.
I was shaking my head a little tday but smiling at what happened with UNCN, because at the moment that I bought FLCR I was debating with myself which stock to jump into as I liked them both almost equally at that point and the price was just about identical. Well, I'm banking now that FLCR will follow in UNCN's price steps this week!
HYBN looks very strong
still moving on the recent news that they're swithing to an AMEX stock
