Turquoise Hill Acknowledges Privatization Proposal Received from Rio Tinto
March 14 2022 - 07:30AM
PR Newswire (Canada)
MONTREAL, March 14, 2022 /CNW/ - Turquoise Hill Resources Ltd. ("Turquoise Hill" or the "Company") today acknowledged receipt of a non-binding proposal from Rio Tinto International Holdings Ltd. ("Rio Tinto"), which Rio Tinto has separately announced by press release issued earlier today, outlining its proposal to acquire the approximately 49% of the outstanding shares of Turquoise Hill held by the Company's minority shareholders (approximately 99 million common shares) for cash consideration of C$34.00 per share. Rio Tinto has stated that its proposal is conditional on, among other things, Turquoise Hill not raising additional equity capital, including through a rights offering, bought deal or other share placement, pending completion of the proposed transaction. The Rio Tinto proposal does not amend the terms of the amended and restated Heads of Agreement entered into by Turquoise Hill and Rio Tinto on January 24, 2022 which establishes a binding funding plan for the completion of the Oyu Tolgoi underground mine.
Turquoise Hill (CNW Group/Turquoise Hill Resources Ltd.)
The board of directors of the Company will be establishing a special committee of independent directors to review and consider Rio Tinto's proposal. Turquoise Hill shareholders do not need to take any action with respect to the proposal at this time.
I went through my records and found the outstanding share count of my runners last year. My average was 501K. The largest outstanding share count was 1.6B. My outstanding share count for the stocks I am holding is 123M as of yesterday.
Hope you have a great weekend.

I agree that it is not like 50 years ago. The movements for some stocks rise fast and furious, such as ENSV. I notice that today it was up over 100% on extremely heavy volume. I still would have done what you did. I had 7 sales last year for an average 187% profit using this method. I had 2 that shot up quickly like ENSV or else my average profit would have been over 200%.
Best to you and may you have many great profits ahead.
I2000
Nice gain on ENSV after it popped up 85% on extremely heavy volume today. It could go higher, but I would not bet my money on it. I would have done what you did, I would take my 100+% profit, and look for another sleeper to put it in.
Keep up the good work. May you see more green in the days ahead.

I have been in the market since 1983 after a friend let me read his copy of Ted's book. My timing was not the best as my wife got sick in 1984 and I stayed out of the market until 1990. I then lost my job and had to start looking for another one and moved twice during the 90's. I once again got back into the market in 2000 but only until 2006 when my wife passed away. While I tried to get back to trading on a ready basis, my focus was not on doing Ted's method until I jumped back in with both feet in 2018. From that time forward my yearly gains have jumped more than they have ever done before. My largest % gain was 479% in 2003. I have only sold stocks in only 16 years since 1983. During those 16 years, only 2 were in the red. The other 14 all were in the green. I sold stocks for a loss in 8 of those years as I had left Ted's method and played around with sub-penny stocks. In other words, I found that if I am not following Ted's method I lose money. I still hold 4 non-Ted stocks out of the 16 I now have. Ted said never to sell at loss, which I have done mainly because they were not stocks that meet Ted's method.
Since 2017, my portfolio has shot up faster than the Dow because I am focused on applying Ted's method 100% of the time. I have learned the hard way that his method only works when you use it.
To answer your last question, the strategy has to be something that you are comfortable with. One rule of Ted's is to never consider selling with less than 200% unless there is a major spike in price and volume. If that happens, which I have experienced, he says to take the money and run. While I have other stocks that are doing good, ERF is by far my best one chart-wise and percentage-wise.
If you have any other questions, I will do what I can to answer them.

Thanks for your post. I use finviz to screen for stocks. At present, I scan only for US, Canada, and Mexico stocks. I usually only look for stocks $5 and under. From there, as you had said, from here it also becomes a manual process.
Look forward to more of your posts. Hope you have a great weekend.
Just wanted to share one chart with you. I bought it at $3.19 when the blue line crossed the red line. It closed at $13.52 on Friday. I am up 323% at the present. I have set my target price of $15 when I bought it, and now I am getting close to that mark. With the steep uptrend, I am watching more closely than I normally would a stock.

A lot depends on what you paid for AMHPF. If you have a gain of around 300%, since this is on the OTC, I would take the money and run, but that is just me. Many years ago most of my stocks were on the OTC and I was lucky to break even as I had some great gains and then others when belly up without warning. The sharp rise would be my clue to sell and not hold it too long. Best of luck to whatever you do, and it be bright green for you.

The reverse split was done around the first of last year and I see no reason for another one.
Not sure I understand what you are saying.
It seems I timed my purchase of ERF last year at about the right time when I got it at $3.10. It closed at $11.33 today. Still holding, but checking it more often to see if it is time to sell yet.

Hi gibson256,
From what I am seeing, MRAM has broken out of a triangle of just over a year in duration. It shot up over 100 % in only a day or two. If I had been holding this stock I would have sold in the $13 to $14 range. I believe there are better-looking formations to place our money on than this one. These are just my opinions, take them for what they are worth. Best of luck with all of your trades.

EXN is another stock that I have added to my watch list. I believe it is still too early to buy as it appears to be still in a downtrend. The price range you have shown for DPW is too high on the all-time and 5-year charts. Those charts show us nothing in order to form an opinion. Just my 2 cents, but I do not like the chart, even on the 2-year range. It went from just over .50 cents in November 2019 to nearly $11 in November 2020. It is now trading just below $2.
Maybe someone can weigh in and give their opinion about DPW.
