I have also been doing what the big institutes do,... and that is buy at the right time... sell at the mid Q to work the money on other plays and get back in well ahead of the rush to distribution. Keep a long term core. Mine is about 30% of the position. EPD is very liquid and predictable to a bit better degree than most stocks in all the sectors I am in for diversity.
I use a very good accountant who has no trouble sorting the K-1 information and advising me on what I need to send Uncle Sam ahead of the year end to comply with the IRS. as I do not pay quarterly like I did in my career as an independent sales rep. I have been doing well these last few years by sticking to a working plan, without emotion or greed.
Long MLP holder so most of the return of capital is done on the core here. Book listed price is way above the actual money per share invested over the 22 years I have been here. Long term will give the heirs a stepped up cost basis.
There are no shenanigans with this management and top shelf operation. Please do your own research as these are just my honest opinions. Thank you Ronald Reagan for signing the 1986 law creating MLPs and encouraging domestic energy.

A certain person we all know from the days of Ausie housing it, and who got me, and I/we got jugs, rest his soul, into this one two years ago... told me back then @1.25 to just put them in a shoe box under the bed and forget about it...
Then before the RS to tighten it up and bring it to SoCal near mfg, I flipped enough shares to be riding free and back in the shoebox they went under the bed.
I am not about to let a political flu epidemic steal them. New investors will replace old ones, and this is still the future paradigm, so there is a high likelihood of a much bigger pharma company acquiring the distribution of RCEL,... but remember the IP is still safe in Dr Wood's foundation.... Royalties will be gathered.
We will see some ups and downs but there is still much to finish with juvenile and cosmetic/Vitiligo... and a virtual conference again this year.
I want to be aboard when young children who scald themselves by accident get this treatment and there is no lasting scarring.
The ABA conference that will be in Vegas next year.will be IN PERSON. Avita will be prominent.

Hold at least a year and until changed the tax is only 15% on the gain.

Many will, on their own, or with institutions, automatically reinvest their payout upon receiving it. That will be the 11th or 12th this month
EPD has IMHO one of the safest payouts in the market.
A very liquid stock which just received a PT upped by RBC Capital $2 to $28 from $26 and they remain Outperform. Very highly followed Infrastructure giant.
EPD co-founder Dan Duncan (1933-2010) built the co from 1968. Dan's daughter Randa Duncan Williams is now Chairman.

KMP is mentioned in the second link, but article is 10 years old, and I was a holder when KMP was swallowed by their GP, KMI, an S Corporation... It spawned the new verb "Kindered" as the founder Richard Kinder, caused all the investors a ton of money with the change at that time.
That next year the value of the investment was taxed from $1 as KMI... KMI lost value with many angry investors from KMP sold when it became KMI... but other MLPs, were very well managed like EPD and have thrived and paid back their investors for all the capital over time... called "return of capital".
The first link from Motley Fool continues talking about MLPs in several following good videos... I have an accountant that finds it very easy to deal with the K1 information and approves of the great yield which is mosty tax free income.
I used that income to add to salary and now social security and have many years of experience holding and living off the auxiliary income from a tax free perspective.
Good luck with your questions but there are lots of answers and opinions available..

Your search was flawed... They are MLPs not MLCs. The P is what we are PARTNERS... Master limited partners.
Yes you can hold them in 401s or other IRAs , ie Roth.

Hi K2
What color am I?
I have traced my ancestry and have a direct line to the 1. Mayflower, (Edward Doty) 2. the 4 corners of the Hardanger fiord n Norway, (Pop was 100%) 3. the Mohican natives, (Mom's triple great gramp married one) and 4.The 12 tribes of ancient Israel, (also Mom through an indentured servant in the colonies... Josiah Webber) ... point is we are all black Chinese if you go back far enough so we need to get over the phony color BS IMHO.
As you know I live in the great white north though... lately the thick frost on the bare trees is amazing to see!
This board is my refuge!
I just wish The True Dough Head would let me go to my lake refuge in the NW Ontario wilderness. I promise to social distance,....LOL.

2021 will be a good RCEL year, Imo, and I had no tax loss to harvest,... unlike those that bought around the the time Avita moved the HQ and domicile to SoCal near the mfg.

No worries
I knew the MMs had them and filled the other 90 before printing would appear. They naked shorted some moon boys?, Are you the Mike at the top? Mr Perry?
No Probably not. Liking the op here again, Took most off the table (80%) @$30-35.
All remaining are free and clear so I reinvest small 100 share purchases. Obviously covid has a lot to do with it as there was no ABA this year... I can wait. Juvenile approval will be another catalyst... no brainer.
I welcome sub 20 or whatever price it goes to and I predict in time it will be worth twice whatever it bottoms at before it is bought out. There will be a loading zone. Mine too is below $20. Swing trade till then.
I don't care who runs the company because the technology/IP is secure and in Dr. Wood's Foundation.
if they run it badly it will be a cheaper loading zone. Good op then again... However unlikely.
It was the right move to bring it to where the mfg and largest market is... now we wait for more approvals and burn centers to get aboard.
Two years ago in November I bought pre split at $1.25, yes, later than some here... so... When they tightened the float and relocated it became $6.25 cost. RCEL has made a lot of folks decent money!
Most folks reading this know enough to make their own decisions and patience is always good advise.

10 shares filled partial bid @20.93 (Even though my broker says the low so far was 20.94)
Sold off 80% of this position and the rest is free and clear so I just nibble now and then for the return to favor which will be coming to RCEL. Nothing can compete or be legally copied here, IMO.
Avita is not an MLP, so please stay on the topic of RCEL here.
or... if you wish add OT (off topic) to discuss another kind of investment, but consider posting on non specific boards.
I have long been aware and understood all the implications of both types of investing in relation to taxation.
The article agrees with my statement, and I will add... I will also be turning over my investments to my heirs for a "stepped up" cost basis, erasing my ordinary income short OR long term regarding tax liabilities as well as appreciation, which both remain unrealized while I hold them. I have held the MLP core of 30% position you spoke of for over 12 years and recently tripled so I will welcome any tax after it has no cost basis should I live that long.
Learn and understand your investments
-pete
I set some added RCEL shares to sell at $27... My broker will not borrow them to anyone that way..
OT to soflodiver:
MLP's do not report your distributions (return of capital) to the IRS as a cost basis lowering event... Therefore, IMO, you are incorrect saying those distributions will be taxed when you sell.
Furthermore if you hold and your heirs inherit, even the appreciation gain is not taxed as they get a stepped up cost basis...
25% of my position was inherited on the stock you discussed, and my cost basis was booked the day I got it.
-pete
Speculating here but a vaccine will make the market go wild and it is being baked in now... It is already approved for use in the UK.
EPD then will be returning to the steady long term plan... raise their D each Quarter and that will bring a whole lot of money back in... This will be looked back on as a good opportunity.
I read on another board that someone said the distributions would be taxed when you sell. We know that is not correct.
The gain from your initial cost of shares will be taxed when you sell, (never if you hold and let the heirs get a stepped up basis) but not the distributions you earned while you held. They do not book your return of capital distribution as a cost basis event reported to the IRS...
Many are confused by the K-1 forms that are required and come in the Spring,... but my accountant is NOT.

Swing trade it between the quarterly payouts.
Watching it move up and down this Fall I am not going to be surprised by more upgrades,... nearly all analysts say positive things here.. The company is very solid management-wise and institutions are always moving with the up and down flow too. We can increase our yield by doing that too.

Moving the company HQ to where the mfg and biggest market is was smart policy which required cleaning up the ADR situation.

Yes that makes sense, ... no news and plenty of distraction. My timeline is the same as it will be acquired at some point in my opinion.
The paradigm change this discovery and method brings is still on it's slow acceptance track involving careful universal experiences by the broader burn and skin care specialists. The conferences coming will help remind them, but like you said we are not motivated to sell here having worked to get to free status.
Nothing has changed and there is/will be no comparable competition.

Why not ET you said?
A quick look at the distribution history comparing these two gains in the sector will explain why.
Kelsey Warren or the Duncan family tradition of management would be a good thing to explore while you do your due diligence also.
Sorry about the 50% haircut to the payout... btw. I played ET before it combined three MLP's and did a stealth cut to overall D's a couple years ago as well.
I was also a victim of the new verb in the sector... "Kindered"
Once upon a time there was a pipeline MLP called KMP. If you followed Richard Kinder who was Jim Cramer's hero until he wasn't... lol.
