OMG...Mmmm,why does this look strangely familiar. Falling like a brick. Why does the street not see the value? All to familiar here.
Zeev...
have not many nations already use deadly force before trail by jury in espionage? There is a distinction here,I know, but eliminating threats have always been the accepted practice of many nations in their dealings. Just because you don't read about it in the paper does not mean it does not happpen. In using the press here the military sends a message to all would be and all terrorists. The military could just have easily enacted a press black out and then only conjecture would have been applied as to the where abouts of so and so. What happen a week ago Sunday is nothing new. Interpretation...,now that might be something new.
sounds good to me. EOM
'limtex'
Mmmm... Thank You!
btw: I am holding enough Interdigital, lol!
Zeev
about OMG:
How would you justify the their expectations earlier this year that "demand was strong and cobalt prices would increase". How did they screw that up,big;$118/mill?
Fair enough. I will not mention it again. eom
"especially when GSM migrates to W-CDMA"
This is not my understanding. The world will not go through QCOM. Wait and see!
"Sometime between now and approx 2006 the world will go from 85% GSM - 15% cdma to one of 85% cdma and 15% GSM.
That will an effect on QCOM as this process ensues"
---------------------
I believe you are kidding yourself. You will certainly never convince me of this, but I do understand your loyalty, lol.
QCOM is now selling the world's 1st dual mode WCDMA/GSM chipset to SANYO.
Mmmmm. Do you know how expandable WCDMA/GSM chipsets are? Is this not a temp.niche market?
limtex
I am not really sure what is your point. Do you believe the markets will contract here for a while? If so,so will the big Q.
Qcom will be hurt going forward the next few years, imho. The valuation given here is too high to support the ongoing(reoccuring) earnings growth. I am looking out the next two years or so. GSM will continue to gain world wide market acceptance leaving CDMA smaller and smaller markets to play in.
btw: but what the heck do I know,so my wife tells me,lol!!
I am holding a few potentials winners but the bulk is tucked away until that swoon down resumes then will add. Bottom line,I am comfortable with my a$$ firmly planted in my seat.
ajtj99... Tomorrow you may get your first target,intra-day,1448. Amazing how the market is ramped up and down. One could think it is pure manipulation. Then again, one could be gullible enough to believe it is a level playing field.
btw: I appreciate your work.
"Cnbc failed to mention Goldman adding Qcom this morning to to buy list."
giving Goldman and their cohorts the opportunity to unload.
Zeev
sounds as if those "turnips" are as confused as many a politician, lol!
I gather you have been hanging around jimlur's thread,no?
The case Interdigital makes against Ericson goes back a long way. I believe a similiar case involving Motorola in '95 went bad for IDCC. The stock was trading around 3.50 in November 1994 and ran a little over 12 by Janurary 95 until the news hit the street and she came down.(from what I remember and this could be bad info)
Point is,the stock has been a hyped up bag of wind for some time. Bottom line now is the balance sheet coming together and the outlook going forward is very bright. I would not put too much emphasis on the litigation involving Ericson in making a decision on weather to buy or not to buy here. If the case is decided in IDDC's favor, the more the better. The stock will run hard! Many more chip makers will sign on increasing their revenue stream. Their have been others who have infringed on IDCC's patents who will come on board and settle too. The case is huge but must be weighed carefully. Ericson's survivability is questionable leaving a clouded picture on the viability of any awarded payments should they lose. What you might see is a settlement between IDCC and ERICY and maybe soon.
I hold a core position in my ROTH,but do swing trade here and their in my "fun account",lol!
IDCC...? I have it and will stay put. There were plenty of opportunities to get this one cheap over the last year or so. The gamble here is their revenue. Should royalties continue to add to the bottom line and they should, there is no reason to believe the stock will not continue to out perform going forward. I believe their cash burn rate will turn cash flow positive very soon. Their cash on hand is above 97 mil. Again the gamble is their royalties going forward. The company does not pump out many news releases.
I take it you had a bad day? No I am far from clueless after all I have guys like you pointing out my faults not to mention how this market is behaving. Do not respond, your candor I can do without.
in edit: you should have not edited your post so quickly.
tell me,why should it be obvious to everybody? I suppose you in are the camp that believes that will be Bullish for the markets. But let me not be the one who puts words in your mouth.
If the Fed believes that by cutting rates here will have a productive effect on the economy than the question that begs to be answered is how bad are things out there. Most of the economic news released late this week was not bullish but the market saw fit to see it otherwise. The crowd sees a rate cut coming, but my eyes must need glasses.
No. I think most of the margin call was from the big guy;James P. Mooney, the Company's Chairman and Chief Executive Officer.
The Form 4 reported the sale by Mr. Mooney on Tuesday of approximately 710,000 shares of the Company's common stock. I think Mr Mooney thought the stock would rebound. The big problem here is accounting issues,do you trust them or not. There is no coincidence the "houses" have begun to down grade the debt. Leverage for them is to the downside. This is how the game is played on the street.
btw: what was the price of cobalt last year? 13% decline from last quarter net is odd yet quit forseeable,no?
curious why executives from the same company would get margin calls in the first place? I mean, one risk taker is one thing, but more than one? How is it,when you are in the circle of insiders, that you would not consider loaning out your shares? OMG charts seem stable enough. Something smells bad here and I am not so sure it is all OMG's fault.
Zeev
you wouldn't suppose the coming elections could have anything to do with it,would you?
still love reading your thread. I know how hard you work teaching and or explaining your postulates in each security you trade with emphasis on the macro in the short and long term, but know you must love what you do very much.
after this election the party is over and the pullback will begin in earnest, but what the heck do I know.
oh...? And what may I ask is the market telling you?
Zeev
What is your stop loss on EXTR?
Zeev
What will be your stop loss on EXTR? I see this one is still printing new lows here.
Zeev

I have seen Jane post often about CCUR but today she probably felt staying around the store would prove smarter... or is it surfing the waves? Lucky girl!
In either case I am more inclined to agree with those turnips and stay in cash not withstanding any OB that might get hit. Will see.
In edit: Hi Jane!
Zeev
I have been watching CCUR and though about jumping in below 2.90 but wonder if waiting would be smarter. Do you still follow this one? If so,how would you play (or not play ) this one.
Always reading those turnips. Thanks again.
Wow...so many new faces here.
Heavy Duty
Thankyou for that nice reply. I too have been holding IDCC for some time but after the big run up in '99. I do believe they have the goods and will do well with licensese. The game is early but seeing the mid teens again would not surprise me in the least. I have traded this many times but have always been a buyer below 8. The value placed here is not current earnings, as all Longs know,(although suprises on the up side would not catch me off guard) but the potential future earnings once the street is convinced they have the goods.
Good Luck to you too
Ahhhh ha,another soul who is Long IDCC. Been there, done that and still holding. This little co is a great trading utility;what you got to watch out for is the up side potential when all their ducks are in line. Timming here is critical but time is on there side.
That is not reality. Do you really think there are many now who got caught in a margin squeeze? I think not. I do think there are many more who are hoping the markets drop further in order to take advantage of those poor sellers and buy up their shares on the cheap. Anyone posting on Yahoo does so for his/her own benefit.
What a Bounce! EOM
Zeev
If the "turnip rally" does happen, where do you see ZRAN running to?
Zeev
Just took the opportunity to order one base ball cap. Will ware it proud

Hi Zeev
Good Luck with the new thread. Does this mean you will no longer post on SI?
In edit;I see OAKT is having a strong day here considering
