Question is, if it didn't rain that evening...would the Mexican Army have easily obliterated Colonel Bowie's garrison (and possibly the Alamo itself)?
Ordinary
Oh yes.

A country must have an industrial capacity to wage war against an aggressor (such as the Union Army).
The Confederate States lacked the manufacturing capacity to wage a protracted war against a powerful foe---a foe that had a STRONG manufacturing base, a large army and a powerful navy.
Antietam was the high point, but it meant little to Lee and his commanders in the long run. Lee's biggest worry was resupplying his divisions (with men and equipment).
".........it may have brought France and England in the war."
England toyed with the idea of an alliance with the Confederate States, but there was too much at stake (by that time the United States Navy dominated the coastline, and had a number of ships that would intercept the Royal Navy with ease).

"...a brief flame appeared out of the right-hand engine.."
Yup...crappy engines do that.
Then again, a foreign object COULD have entered the air intake, causing the flameout.
Ordinary
LOL..wouldn't surprise me.
The Russians made good airframes. But they used outdated electronics...for the most part. And as mentioned, they had crappy engines.
Their biggest problem, ironically, was poor workmanship. Soviet (later Russian) engineers were never able to make an engine that was as efficient as ours. Granted some of the engines they produced were very powerful....but they were VERY fuel inefficient.
It was said that top Russian officers were very upset when they were denied permission to view the F-22 up close (probably due to the P119-PW-100 engines).

Battle of the Bulge
Why did Hitler throw everything at the Allies in Belgium?
Why didn't he throw everything at the Allies (Soviets) who were racing across Poland at lightning speed?
Ordinary
No.
Ordinary
So was the Japanese bow.
But it was better made.
Ordinary
...the bow isn't new, but the concept behind siege warfare (and ranged warfare, in general) took a long time for battlefield commanders to understand.
Ordinary
I think so.
I read somewhere that the aircraft had engine troubles (Paris Air Show?) and had to abort the take-off.
Ordinary
Wow.
Now that is really sad.....
An Ordinarydude who saw once saw Billy Dee Williams selling pictures of himself at a comic book convention....
Didn't this aircraft have issues recently?
Particularly with the engines?
Ordinary
Mongol Bow is inferior to the English Longbow.
In fact, the Japanese had better bows than the Mongols did.
Ordinary Longbow
The Battle of Cowpens was a major success.
Imagine the look on Cornwallis' face when he saw his men get shot in the face....
Ordinary Musket
He fully appreciated what ranged weapons brought to the battlefield.

Daniel Morgan happened to be part Welsh....

I'm interested in the individuals who led campaigns (on either side).
Like Hannibal.
And John Pershing.
And George Patton.
George Patton is another individual I admire greatly.
He was a brilliant military officer. Patton obsessed over ancient battles (and their military leaders...ironically). He was a romantic--he LOVED horses.
Of course he couldn't keep his mouth shut......
Ordinary
....I have to pull for somebody.
Might as well be Jerry's team.
PS: I'd rather pull for OSU.
Of course we're talking apples and oranges here.
An Ordinarydude who is a Longhorns fan.....
"Yeah but you fuckers could shoot a bow......Agincourt.........."
The Battle of Agincourt proved many things....chief of which was the English longbow (which was FAR superior to what the puny French had to "offer") help shape England as a world power. That, and Welch archers...who were expert marksmen....aren't as clumsy as folks make them out to be.....
"....Did you see where Matt whined about paying for everybody?"
Um....no. But that wouldn't surprise me....considering the rumors I've heard about him (that he's a whiner).
"...By the way I love military history."
Ditto.
I heart Classical Roman war (Punic Wars) and World Wars 1 and 2.
An Ordinarydude who can't seem to grasp the reason why we went to war in Vietnam....
Matt Brown fucked up. He's currently "paying the piper" for his poor choices.
"...I was not referring to George Washington........"
Matt Brown is no George Washington.
For one thing, Matt is smaller and stubbier than George.
Could you imagine Matt being able to mount a horse? It would be akin to a Welshman trying to scurry up a small ladder!
LOL
Ordinary Welshman
Are you talking about Matt Brown?
Ordinary
I wonder how much booze we would consume....
Ordinary
LOL. Oh....OOKKKK.
Let's see the ACTUAL court ruling on that "matter".
Ordinary
Meh......for some reason or another pump-n-dump scam artists like to stalk me.
I wonder whhhhyyyyyyy.....
Ordinary
Thank you.
Ordinary
LOL
Butt out, scam-artist. This is between gp and myself.
Ordinary
LOL..oh stop acting pious, gp.
You corner the market when it comes to acting like a child.
Ordinary
I gave you a straight answer, asshole.
Ordinary
"Gold is now $1,866.40 and Silver is $42.29 a far cry higher from then.."
None of that has anything to do with this stock.
"...Kepp in mind HGLC opened for trading at $3.00 totally short able all the way down to $.0001"
Thanks in LARGE part to dilution...
Ordinary
Nope.
Which means Obama will be re-elected next year.
Assuming he still wants to do the job.....
Ordinary
"...I'm sure he sleeps well at night because he still doesn't think he is responsible for any of this.."
I'm sure he feels that he's not responsible for any of this....but I doubt he's sleeping well at night....
Ordinary
"....I've only managed to muster up about 5800 measly posts."
It's not the quantity of posts, but the quality, that counts. That...and the "size" of the posts count too....
"Having said that, I can now go back to my snack of Funyuns and creamy e.coli dip."
Sorry, I forgot to wash my hands after using the toilet. FYI, don't visit El-Fenix on Friday nights. Oh boy.....
Ordinary
No.
But I'm willing to bet you can't provide a credible list of "items" that would convince me to think otherwise.
Ordinary
"...FFGO is not communicating with share holders or issuing PR's or 8K's in over a year..."
I don't know about you guys, but I call that a crisis.
Ordinary
Well..no...not really.
Then again, it doesn't stop the bullshit flowing from the Repubican's mouths either...
Ordinary
"....Anybody want to tell us that the current administration is not racist?"
This current administration is many things.
But it's not racist.
Ordinary
It's very hard for a grey-sheet stock to GET a bid.
