How 'bout those Hoosiers! eom
Happy Easter... eom
I hear you like gin...
her hostess blurted out, instantly afraid of appearing tactless. But the Queen Mother thought it delightful.
"I hadn't realized I enjoyed that reputation," she replied. "But as I do, perhaps you could make it a large one."
The Queen Mother died peacefully in her sleep this afternoon... she would have fit in well with this crowd... horse racing and trout fishing were among her favorite activities. She was the fourth daughter and ninth child of Lord Strathmore born in Glamis Castle, Scotland where Macbeth murdered Duncan.
Her father was a bona fide aristocratic eccentric... Dragging dead branches from his woods in the middle of the night. Dressed in an old rain coat tied with string, he would then split them into logs for the fire.
She won the love and respect of Britain during WWII when she refused to leave London during the Blitzkrieg... kept her children with her as well... enthusiastically taking target practice with a revolver given to her by Winston Churchill. When Buckingham Palace was bombed she made her now famous comment, "No I feel I can look the East End in the face."
Rest in peace dear lady.

Here's to the living...
Happy Birthday Brooke Astor.
What a class act... It's a long read, but worth it.
Enjoy.

Test.
You know me too well...
still going with "stupid trick"
you brilliant prankster.
It is a sad, sad day when my heart truly goes out to nyc.
Starting to see his side. God bless him.
As for the pheasant... does it taste good?
Too pretty to eat... this chick's perspective.
ksquared.carnivore.uglybeasts
My profound apologies to the real nyc...
http://ragingbull.lycos.com/mboard/boards.cgi?board=SWAMP&read=25634
my normally exquisite proofreading skills were defective last night nycnpbbkr as opposed to nycpnbbkr.
I am incredibly sorry that I fell for that stupid trick. Please accept my heartfelt apologies and best wishes for a happy Easter to you and yours.
ksquared.truly.sorry
P.S. Like I said, 50 and still gullible... will probably still apply when I am 70+...
Number three... Billy Wilder...
amazing compilation of film...
He, Milton Berle, and Dudley Moore.
An amazing conglomeration of souls.
Hope my soul is reincarnated when the three of them hit the planet together again... and that we hook up this time.
To all three, enjoy the rest and rebuild period...
hope to see you in the next life.
ksquared.awestruck
Thanks Ola old bean...
your suggestion has been followed.
Braking for animals...
Saw what I thought was a wild turkey crossing the local road to hellon80 in the early morning light... started slowing down and finally came to a halt so it could pass... not a turkey... a pheasant... gorgeous... tail was folded but I could see the eyes in the feathers... neck was a brilliant blue... amazing... I've never seen one that close...
Beautiful gentle spring day... we're supposed to get nailed with a walloping thunder and lightening storm around midnight as a cold front pushes through... winds about 30 mph gusting to 50... hope it's accompanied by torrents of rain... should be interesting.
ksquared.waitingfor.thestorm
P.S. What's the best feature on this board?
Hide Board Info...
For the record... I paid the 50 bucks too. eom
Thanks Ola...
Didn't read anything with his "handle" on it after I posted last night... so whatever he said... doesn't matter.
Have a good one.
ksquared.chuckling
dang... 50 and still gullible...
pretty funny...
no wonder I privately referred to him as kiababfuck...
what an ego...
fullmoonfever.ksquared
Ah subtlety... eom
Why thank you Miss Viv...
You are always so dang accommodating...
I like the live fire better than the animated one... making me itchy to start the evening blaze.
Doing laundry... getting cocky with the recent rain and decided to do a load of darks... think I just did something weird to the water softener... was trying to reset the clock after last Friday's blackout (okay, okay... so it takes me a while to get to things...) and it started up... must have been close to recycle day... time will tell... fortunately I have a real fine local plumber... hope I don't need him tonight.
ONEBGG or Husker must know how to do the signature thing...
Hope that is our weekend... eom
ROTF littleviv.on.theprairie...
No wonder you love animals... I'm just too dang lazy to take care of them... I'll settle for the ones that roam the area...
There are four deer that feed in the neighbor's front yard when I come home from work... they watch me and my car maneuvers backing into the garage but seem rather blasé vis a vis my presence unless I shut the car door with a bang... makes them flinch but then they go right on eating... a little too used to people I would say... makes them easy targets.
Liked the early afternoon picture twosome... very nice of you to accommodate the virile Colt this evening... but what about the ladies?
Please no Fabio pictures though... blow-dried faggots have no appeal for me...
A generic Marlboro man shot would be nice... like 'em long, lean, mustachioed and...
p r e e e t t y...
sucker.ksquared/forapretty.face
Castle... if your moon was as bad
as this one...
It is a miracle you lived this long.
Ride from hell on 80 this morning and I only go one exit... folks going abnormally fast... I was doing 75 and being passed as though I were parked... eek... cats weaving in and out with INCHES to spare between bumpers. SUN GLARE... come up over the hills... WHACK... blind... and NO one slowing down... had to keep moving to avoid being rear ended... very interesting.
Sheesh... I'm usually one of the more aggressive drivers but this morning I was forced to back off and stick with the right hand lane just in case I needed to take advantage of the shoulder option to get out of harms way...
Drive home wasn't quite as scary... 'cepting the dimwit soccer moms in their SUVs must have gotten a memo that said the double yellow line is there to guide you... just center your front wheels over it and all will be well with you and your offspring... rode the shoulder for one stretch...
Anyway... I am home and I am safe... obviously.
Watch your back...
Your sides...
Your front...

EXCERPTS FROM A CAT'S DIARY
DAY 752 - My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little
dangling objects. They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while I am
forced to eat dry cereal. The only thing that keeps me going is the
hope of escape, and the mild satisfaction I get from ruining the
occasional piece of furniture. Tomorrow I may eat another
houseplant.
DAY 761 - Today my attempt to kill my captors by weaving around
their feet while they were walking almost succeeded, must try this
at the top of the stairs. In an attempt to disgust and repulse these
vile oppressors, I once again induced myself to vomit on their
favorite chair...must try this on their bed.
DAY 765 - Decapitated a mouse and brought them the headless body,
in attempt to make them aware of what I am capable of,
and to try to strike fear into their hearts. They only cooed and
condescended about what a good little cat I was...Hmmm.
Not working according to plan.
DAY 768 - I am finally aware of how sadistic they are. For no good
reason I was chosen for the water torture. This time however it
included a burning foamy chemical called "shampoo."
What sick minds could invent such a liquid. My only consolation is
the piece of thumb still stuck between my teeth.
DAY 771 - There was some sort of gathering of their accomplices. I
was placed in solitary throughout the event. However, I could hear
the noise and smell the foul odor of the glass tubes they call
"beer". More importantly I overheard that my confinement was
due to MY power of "allergies." Must learn what this is and how
to use it to my advantage.
DAY 774 - I am convinced the other captives are flunkies and maybe
snitches. The dog is routinely released and seems more than happy
to return. He is obviously a half-wit. The bird on the other hand has
got to be an informant, and speaks with them regularly. I am certain
he reports my every move. Due to his current placement in the
metal room his safety is assured.
But I can wait, it is only a matter of time...
Cold, white full moon hanging
in the western part of the sky...
Supposed to be a raucously charged
emotional one...
Be cool.
Enjoy.

trkyhntr...
the waterfall in the crick behind the property is almost roaring thanks to yesterday's rain... the lake I see as I pass through town to the house is visibly higher...
YIPPEE...
think you're right... maybe God loves us after all... getting greedy here and praying for lots more...
Drove to work under dark gray blustery clouds... derived calm comfort from the view... felt embraced by life-giving nature...
It's the simple things...
Yipe! Did not realize Africa is a year away... will you be south of the equator... a friend of mine went to Kenya about 10 years ago... observational safari... hit the equator and said they did a pouring water down the sink demonstration... just north clockwise (?) down the drain... just south counter clockwise (?) down the drain... on the equator... straight down the drain...
Exceptionally cool, huh?
I think so.
Closest I've been to the equator was 8° north (about 560 miles)... still need to get south of it...
Thinking Antartica might be fun...
Take care trkyhntr... hug dear Doris...
ksquared
Paule...
rereading... very upset about losing Milton Berle... cannot explain it.
Judd posted? Missed it.
Bagman?
Anyway, if you check out the RB Swamp... the two of them seem to think they are exiles...
Figured the good old boys club should be put on alert and the rest would fall into place.
Truly miss Matey... hope he tried this out early in its history and is eligible for the grandfathering in option.
So... is tomorrow the take off day for the wild boar hunt???
Please give Pre a hearty handshake and warm regards from me... I'll be thinking about him on the 1st and you on the 4th... more so than usual I might add...
Have fun you two irascible Aries... es...

Greetings gnome...
this is starting to be fun...
ksquared
Wow trkyhntr...
and you look so mild-mannered... been following this gun chat in awe... and detached disbelief... you cats are truly into this stuff...
Great soaking rain overnight in the hills of NJ... if we're lucky we'll get more this Friday... will wish the same for you folks...
When is Africa? I know I should remember... sorry... not as sharp as I used to be... memory files are filling... need more storage space...
ksquared
ONEBGG... time to organize a S.A.R. mission...
In the haste to vacate the old stomping grounds... looks like some of the good folks were left behind... Matey, Waif, and judd... Waif and judd were last seen treading the murky waters of the RB Swamp trying to remember their ihub IDs... haven't seen Matey in quite a bit but miss his decency and practicality...
If you're feeling heroic... dive back into the cesspool and check out the action (or lack thereof)... wear a germ-defying wet suit...
As a newbie... I can only make suggestions...

Get your mail yet ola-kins??? eom
Clingin' to 54 are ye, pre???

Evening Walnut young bud... eom
Hey trkyhntr... still dry as a bone
in this neck of the woods... will go to sleep praying for precipitation, but not holding my breath... watched the weather.com maps all day long... moisture was coming at us full tilt boogie... then breaking up as it hit the Poconos... major bummer.
30 years in a career... and teaching no less... God bless Doris... my hat is off to her... come to think of it... it is a surprise and a blessing that the mass murderers who target the high schools are students and not the teachers... dang those good folks are under supreme self-control...
Hear you vis a vis getting older... lost a beloved friend about 6 years ago... he was dying as I was starting my new life out here... kept me running back to Manhattan to visit... first time in my life I experienced chest pains... gut-wrenchingly sad... don't look forward to losing people... so far I have been blessed...
And as far as the physical deterioration... I hear you there as well and I fight it... believe it is even more important now to keep up with things... a childhood girlfriend's mother fell last week... shattered her hip, broke her shoulder, and lay where she fell for 24 hours before her daughter who makes a daily pilgrimage found her... she will be in rehab for a long, long time...
Makes me more determined than ever to keep walking, mowing the lawn, stacking wood... anything physical to be the best I possibly can be... I must live alone and unassisted... when I can't do that anymore... I know it is time for me to die... not an appealing thought at this juncture...
So trkyhntr... cuddle your beloved Doris as a warmup exercise to cuddling those grandkids... have a safe and uneventful trip to NC... hope to talk to you before you head south...
Prayers for LOTS of rain continue... may it let up only for your drive...
ksquared
Thanks Paule... raincheck???
Been on this and the office machine since before the dawn's early light and I have "mouse shoulder"... about to adjourn to the living room for a little afternoon blaze...
Later young friend.
