I saw the last half hour only, but it looked pretty good. Ill watch it again this Thursday.
Hopefully, some of you got to watch Platinums "Jeremiah" on Sci-Fi Thursday night. Looks like it has a big cult following. It will be on again this thursday. I still think we should promote shows that could draw attention to Platinum and promote our products, cups, shirts, etc on Platinums site, especailly if we sold the product and if we still have the rights to do that. But this is just me thinking out loud as usual.
I noticed that the Splastk site is being updated, as well as Platinum Studios Comics site. Maybe the Splastk site is being prepared for voting for CBC? If not, lets hope it is maintained better than it was and new videos added weekly. It could be a big draw if done correctly. Not sure what is being done with the PSC site.
IMO
I think so too. He wouldnt have time to monitor the daily operations of the company. Maybe just the big things that require his attention. That is why he has the other key players (upper management). If we just base what we know from the last few PRs, he is directing or co-directing a bunch of films in different countries. But I think he is still involved, maybe just less. Some CEOs do other things for the company but leave the daily operations in capable hands. Still okey by me, just make the deals, get the films done, and bring in the money. Im confident Brian and his staff will continue to do the same.

Below you will read things which are rarely made public in Hollywood (with the exception of some publicly traded companies) and quite an interesting read.
1. Platinum Studios (PDOS) $0.15, Sample Video Game Contract.
If Platinum Studios (PDOS) performs like we think it will (mid to long-term out) -- and you've read our postings on the company -- and you didn't participate, you will have no one to blame but your self. And we understand the hesitations of keeping liquid, in an otherwise illiquid market. On the other hand, the best we've ever done, has always had it beginnings in markets similar to this.
The two periods which come to mind would be the most grueling of all "water-boarding" bear markets -- which started in August of 1990, when the late Saddam invaded Kuwait. Even though the market only went down 10% in the next 5 months -- there was no reason for anyone to buy anything; with the exception for those who like to buy large blocks of stocks on the cheap.
The next period was in late 2001. That's when you could buy Amazon (AMZN) for $7.20 (Oct of 2001) and you, or Microsoft or Carl Icahn could have bought Yahoo (YHOO) for $4.34 (Sept of 2001).
Now of course we didn't know then, that those were great periods to buy stocks. We just thought we'd share that with you and mention that this market "feels" similar to those.
Back to Platinum Studios. The two postings which we think we can look back to a couple years from now if the stock is trading 10 times higher than where it is today and we ask ourselves, "was there something we could have seen back then.....," would be the 8K from 6/20 (feel free to write these down) where Platinum received a valuation of its intellectual property which consists of a library of comic characters -- for $150 million:
8K #1: http://xml.10kwizard.com/filing_raw.php?repo=tenk&ipage=5739095
And then today's 8K from 7/07. Which we'll call 8K #2.
(Some people can't get a grasp on the "broad" potential of revenue earning opportunities of the comic characters. This 8K spells it out.)
Big picture, here is a very clear and very detailed example of 1 potential revenue source, from 1 comic character, that hasn't even gotten to the big screens yet -- "Cowboys & Aliens" and potential Video games.
(All sources would be participations in the movie, participations in merchandising and licensing, participations in digital publishing and participations in print publishing.)
8K #2: http://xml.10kwizard.com/filing_raw.php?repo=tenk&ipage=5766008
We suggest you read the whole thing, but here are some excerpts:
==================================================

(Then) a royalty from the net sales of all formats of the video games as follows:.

Okey, heres a new idea. Im going to call this a RUMOR with nothing confirmed since these guys are posting to a blog. Could be just a open mouth, insert foot type of thing or just slinging the ****. Let me post the key points.
http://pwbeat.publishersweekly.com/blog/2008/06/16/platinum-updates/
Currently the company [Platinum] is in new hands, following an “infusion of funds” a couple years ago; it’s my understanding that while Scott is still officially attached he’s not much directly involved in the business anymore, though the recent announcement of a new publishing company, Vanguard Comics, by Platinum and an animation company prominently mentions him. (By the way, isn’t there already a Vanguard Publishing on our side of the aisle?) Complicating the scene is that the animation company is co-owned by IDT, which also co-owns IDW.
*HUH Scott is moving on?
Blogs: A few weeks ago, it was online that John Cusack was “in talks” to play the lead on Cowboys and Aliens.
*HUH a few weeks ago? Like months ago.
They really need to focus on the Arcana/Platinum “Kade3D” project.
*A new project not yet announced?

I wonder if Arcania Studios has been bought by Platinum yet? We had the option to buy since Vice President, Publishing and Animation Sean O'Reilly joined Platinum Studios as VP, Publishing & Animation Dept. I know some of their other characters would make for great movies (KADE, Reboot). The reason Im wondering is I saw this.
Arcana is proud to announce that Telefilm Canada, the federal cultural agency dedicated to the development and promotion of the Canadian audiovisual industry, has provided funding for the Clockwork Girl animated film.
Clockwork Girl tells the tale of a nameless robot girl who has recently been given the gift of life from her creator. While she explores the wonders of an ordinary world she meets an amazing mutant boy and they share a friendship that must overcome their warring families. Created by Sean O’Reilly and Kevin Hanna, the series was the first release from Arcana’s all ages division, Arcana Kids. Debuting in July 2007 the book received critical acclaim for its astounding artwork and timeless love story (order it at your local retailer with order code MAR083433).
Telefilm Canada is a Crown corporation reporting to Parliament through the Department of Canadian Heritage. Headquartered in Montréal, Telefilm provides services to the Canadian audiovisual industry by means of four regional offices located in Vancouver, Toronto, Montréal and Halifax.. Telefilm’s main goals are celebrating the telling of unique Canadian stories, actively championing a sustainable Canadian audiovisual culture, reward performance, encourage new thinking, and promote diversity.
When recently asked about the Clockwork Girl film, co-creator Kevin Hanna said, “I’m not sure how much I can say, other then I am thrilled that things are going as well as I ever hoped they could be. Working in Hollywood, I know that adaptations are a gamble that often taint the source material. So far everything is going right with Clockwork Girl, the people involved really understand the spirit of the book and the characters. I think fans of the book will be very happy with where this ends up.”

Hunting Smurfs is usually the storyline of this kind of movie. So will you now go? Unfortunately, this kind of movie seems to draw the family crowd. As people take their kids to see these these kinds of movies, their spending will probally make this a big money maker for the company who filmed it. Number 1 for 2 weeks Im thinking.
I remember reading about some movie theaters that supplemented their poor sales with allowing mothers to bring their children to watch a older show at a discounted price (2 bucks). Mothers and kids only. Packed them in. Dont know what happened to this policy. The dollar days of movies are gone. Too bad too. Use to go every tuesday and see a movie, already removed from other theaters, for 1.00. Packed inside. The place made its money on concession dollars. Ripped down for a Safeway and never reopened.
Wouldnt it be funny to see Platinum buy a Movie theater with Dreamworks. Add upgrades to the equipment that no theater has, special contracts to run exclusive 1st preview shows with Hollywood actors there, and maybe a few more exclusive showings with other film companies, Hollywood parties for the public with actors, rentals etc. Just a part of the entertainment business I suppose. Ahhhhhhhh the dreaming continues.

OT: Board Games Are Latest Pop Culture Item to Be Adapted for Film
http://abcnews.go.com/Entertainment/story?id=5351393&page=1
* Hollywood Board? (literally). Talk to Scott. He has some good titles to sell you. LOL
Updated the ihub board. BTW, not sure anyone remembers this:
Hyde Park and Platinum have tapped Al Ovadia & Associates as worldwide agent for merchandising both the film and the comicbook property. The company has managed a number of merchandising programs, including Fox’s global launch of “The Simpsons Movie.”
Hyde Park= a Dylan Dog game? That makes 3 different gamers/merchandiser that we know of so far.

Only if it is a fluff pr, just posting to get something out. If it is real news, I would assume you would try to get investors to hear about it but thats just my opinion. Whats that saying: "Buy on rumor, sell on fact". If it was true, we should be a couple of bucks by now ").
Slow everywhere, but we could always use more volume and more publicity. Personally, I would have liked to see a pr on the gaming company come out, without the finance issue, since that was a good event stating the game is to be made, and one about Scotts "Jeremiah" series, being replayed on Sci-Fi channel. Gives Platinum name a good kickstart, since that was a hit series. I did a quick scan and did not see anything new. So here we sit.

People still coming back from the holidays. Was empty on the freeway this morning.
Was just watching sci-fi and they just did a promo for Jeremiah. Guess they are going to be running Scotts old series again. Do we get residual pay when it plays? It has a big following. Maybe worth a press release. If it has such a huge following, why cant Platinum make a new movie. We always see new movies from older tv series. Probally an easy sell. Wonder if the fans on the Jeremiah site know about this. Guess not. Dont see it mentioned in their blogs.

This just in from the Comic Book challenge page. Hope to see a PR release so everyone can come and check out their names. Actually, Im looking forward to seeing the videos of the 50 and voting on the decent ones. Maybe we need to have a reject page for those that suck to go there. Kind of like a wildcard draw, if your voted the best suckee, your allowed to pitch your video to the panel. 1 final chance to redeem yourself. BTW, I wonder who is on the panel and sponsors.
ALMOST THERE!

We'll be announcing the Top 50 TOMORROW MORNING, so cross your fingers and keep your eyes peeled to this page for who moves forward to the next level!

Lets hope Spielberg, Reliance, and Platinum come to some sort of deal that will blow investors minds.

Heres some comics from Greg Boone. Which of these do we think would fit into Platinums Movie Portfolio.
OT: I did see some commercials for Vanguards Animation next movie "Space Chimps". It looks pretty good.

One more: and this nice little comment: read the blogs

Greg Boone says:
"I’ve worked with Platinum Studios too. I’ve known good ol’ Scott Rosenberg for many years and he’d just optioned one of my comic books for film developement again a few years ago. WOWIO’s platform is what makes it work. No matter who owns it, if they change it one iota it will crash in on them and another company will take it’s place. "
Which film?

How Wowio works (or did work). I wonder how Platinum (IF they get the company) makes money out of this if they are paying the independant creators for their books when downloaded? Advertising? Money going out has to come in. Still could be a really big media distribution network. IMO This could cause some creators to be suspicious of Platinum after the DJ fiasco news company reported everything (late payments, contract rights of individual creators etc). This will blow away eventually as they will continue to get paid for their work, if that is how it will continue to work. See blogs.

I saw that. It is too funny. Everyone will be watching this one play out. Another creators right fight IMO. Not sure Scott could make the claim, unless we bought Virgin Comics and its characters (which include some Marvel). Maybe Scott can get his rights back to MIB. It is going to be an interesting fight.

Platinum Studios Announces It Is in Negotiations to Acquire WOWIO, LLC
Monday June 30, 6:00 am ET
LOS ANGELES--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Platinum Studios, Inc. (OTCBB:PDOS - News), an entertainment company that controls an international library of more than 5,600 comic book characters which it adapts, produces and licenses for all forms of media, today announced that it is in negotiations to acquire WOWIO, LLC, a leading online source for downloading digital books and comics. This acquisition would continue the expansion of Platinum Studios’ global digital media distribution strategy.
Commenting on the attractiveness of WOWIO to Platinum Studios, Brian Altounian, Platinum’s President and COO, said, “WOWIO’s commitment to its motto, ‘free books + free minds,’ has driven the WOWIO team to create a national digital publishing distribution network, both in the comics and traditional publishing world, that brings together creators, publishers and sponsors in a way that allows authors and publishers to be paid, while providing readers access to free books. We feel that WOWIO’s unique business model has positioned them to be at the forefront of change in the publishing world during this challenging time for the entire industry. Platinum believes that acquiring WOWIO would be a major cornerstone of a global digital publishing distribution initiative, and that Platinum is poised to enhance and expand WOWIO’s business while bringing a true global distribution outlet to all of WOWIO’s publishing partners, including Platinum Studios Comics."
“Platinum Studios represents an incredible opportunity for WOWIO at a time when the traditional publishing world is transitioning to electronic distribution channels and fresh revenue models,” said Dr. David Palumbo, CEO of WOWIO. “We started WOWIO with a single purpose: to strengthen the relationship between content owners, content sponsors and content consumers. Joining with Platinum Studios would allow WOWIO to fulfill its founding mission of increasing access to free books to all and would significantly enhance reaching our goal of becoming the world’s leading digital content distribution source for the publishing world."
Final deal terms between the parties have not been reached but the companies hope a transaction can be concluded early in the third quarter this year.

So far so good. Hope it continues. Cusak is too old to play a cowboy. Maybe an old sheriff. Or he just passed on this one, missing out on the next blockbuster.

looks like we may end up ahead today. Alot of volume lately. Wonder if it is due to the D.J fiasco. Does bring attention to Platinum, although negative. I still have faith though. We should nip this in the bud and take care of this, (which Im assuming is being done). As a public company, these kind of things can damage reputaions and scare investors.
just my opinion and still believing.
and as the price slowly moves up, our bookmarks went down 1. Someone got bored and moved on? Should be ging the other way as Platinum gets more contracts and more well known.

One more thing on David Goyer before I move off this subject. Bodes well if the film does get made. Made it to #5 director, not bad IMO
The 25 Most Influential People in Comic Book Movies:
#5 David S. Goyer
June 15, 2008 — sophosmoros
Despite his career ups and downs, David S. Goyer has become the go-to guy for getting screenplays written for Marvel, DC, Dark Horse and other comic book publishers. In 1996, he wrote The Crow: City of Angels, the sequel to #20 Jeff Most’s dark hit The Crow. Alex Proyas, director of The Crow, hired Goyer to write a polish for his next film the sci-fi/fantasy success Dark City. Goyer’s first adaptation of a Marvel Comics character was the 1998 television film Nick Fury: Agent of S.H.I.E.L.D., starring David Hasselhoff. The same year, the cinematic feature Blade was released, written by Goyer and executive produced by #22 Michael De Luca. Goyer created the original character of Whistler, Blade’s mentor, for the film. The character was later added into the comic book’s continuity. Goyer would follow Blade as writer and executive producer of Blade II, directed by #10 Guillermo Del Toro in 2002 with designer #13 Mike Mignola on board. In 2004, New Line released Blade: Trinity, which Goyer wrote, directed and produced himself. Although Trinity received an unfortunately ill reception from critics and fans, Goyer found redemption in 2005’s Batman Begins, for which he shared story and screenplay writing credits with director #18 Christopher Nolan. Goyer also wrote the dialogue and story for the accompanying Batman Begins video game. In 2006, Goyer returned to Blade as writer for the short-lived televisions series “Blade: The Series,” which aired only 12 episodes. His last released works include 2007’s Ghost Rider, for which Goyer served as executive producer. The film’s final script was written by director #14 Mark Steven Johnson. Goyer also wrote the screenplay for the segment “In Darkness Dwells,” part of the animated compilation Batman: Gotham Knight to be released on July 8, 2008.
David Goyer’s future projects include The Dark Knight, set for release on July 18, 2008, on which he again shares story writing credits with director Christopher Nolan. He is working on a final version of a screenplay for X-Men Origins: Magneto, after the original screenplay by Sheldon Turner. Goyer is also attached to direct the Marvel film, set for release in 2009. He is credited as a writer of the screenplay for the currently in-production film adaptation of the DC character The Flash, scheduled for release in 2010. Hollywood.com reports that he has been announced to produce Super Max, based on the DC character Green Arrow. He is also announced to produce a film adaptation of Vertigo Comcis’ Y: The Last Man, to direct an adaptation of Platinum Studios’ Unique, and to write and possibly direct a film adaptation of Marvel’s Dr. Strange. Variety reports that Goyer will be directing a film adaptation of the 2007 graphic novel Baltimore, or The Steadfast Tin Soldier and the Vampire, co-written by Mike Mignola.
