How are things looking pre-market today? anyone?
Looks like they will have a ROV operated control valve of some sort installed.
picture on left from a SAM
picture on right from assembly bay this am
You are right jds, items back from the paint shop today.
Nice article detailing the fall of ON-shore production,
exactly as I predicted in these 2 posts..
"This looks like the end of any new drilling
on land"
"I don't see it affecting offshore wells too much"
"They have worked Saturdays and some Sundays recently, that's why I chuckle when the experts said their business would slow down. Won't be much drilling on land with the new tax changes."
I hope most readers of this board know that Deep Down is all about off-shore production and does practically nothing with onshore drilling. (the last I remember is a year or more ago they rebuilt some wireline trucks)
Gulf of Mexico, Brazil, Off-shore Africa.
As Trueheart recently said "Deep drillers are international."
Now you know the rest of the story!

And all the millions of shares already sold by the PP holders?
Some were sold 4 months ago, do they bust all those trades?
And force the sellers to give the buyers their money back?
How do you see all that taking place?
What if I bought 40k shares from a pp seller 4 months ago,
then sold 20k,
then bought 18k,
then sold 38k,
then bought60k?
Do I get to keep my 'tics'
or do I give them back too?
If by gossip you are referring to the speculation here on the board. Don't worry about that, we get all manner of unfounded speculation here.
If by gossip you are referring a source known to you, probably best to ask that source.
If anybody here knew anything they would have already posted it, or they are plainly just not talking.
on your second part
Steve is not talking.
The SEC is not talking.
..and we all wait..
Oops make that six or seven total, 2 new ones just started at DDI North.
Sup Doog, It's just a guess but I think they are aiming for a certain milestone before the end of this Q.
FAT acceptance or delivery, either or both
typically requires a payment.
Book it.
In the fab shop you can see three sleds with the tool baskets
mounted on the ends, one with the uprights in place, several pizza/hdu's being assembled. Looks like there will be 5 sleds so far with mounted pizza/hdu's.
One or both of the pizza/hdu items has been unloaded at
the Channelview location. (only saw one)
Workers in the fab shop still going strong
tonight.
DPDW up 15.79% for the day.
I think a hydraulic distribution unit is a great call spec.
Steve recently said we are not tree makers, but the more equipment we make to set and leave on the bottom, the better the future of this part of DDI will be.
When you think about it, other than LSFLs, and the Perdido spar equip. much of our fabricated equipment has been for our own installation use. This could be the start of something special for Deep Down.
After all the "aw-shucks" and pessimism recently
is is nice to see a Weeeeeeeeee for a change.
What a nice looking trading day here today.
Glad to finally see a bit of a bounce.
nice catch on that screenshot.
Now I begin to wonder what might mount below the oven
in the area directly beneath. That might be where the flying lead comes out, or I do remember seeing a square accumulator
module that might fit nicely in that area.
Time will tell..
I've seen this pattern before..
Buy when the equipment goes to the paint shop,
Sell when the painted equipment goes out the gate.
Deep Down up 5.56% today.
Ya, I don't care for the fact myself. Maybe he had a good reason
to move on. Do you think he is the one that "borrowed" the 'O'
from the ElectrOwave sign?.
Ya they worked until after 1:00 this morning, it may have even been an all nighter.
I went to bed and didn't watch all night.
They have worked Saturdays and some Sundays recently, that's why I chuckle when the experts said their business would slow down. Won't be much drilling on land with the new tax changes.
Hmm, 2 pizza ovens, 2 mud sleds, it almost looks like the ovens could be bolted on top of the sled uprights.
lol on the zoom
I wouldn't post that shot if I could.
Here is a screenshot from last night about midnight.

I would like to call everything by it's proper name,
but it seems as soon as we learn one product's name
they build some other completely different custom item.
Keeps it interesting anyways.
:)
Here is the unexplained production we have so far:
(numbers are approximate)
5 or 6 heavy duty King Kong basketball hoops (towers various heights)
3 Mudsleds at DDI North
3 or 4 frames or mudsled bottoms at Chnlvw.
2 Pizza ovens at DDI North (looks a bit like a SAM)
36 4 foot diameter flotation modules
5 or 6 8'foot x 12' portable shelters
6 pieces of RetroBuoy looking assemblies
1 long steel plate with holes to fit the RB looking assemblies
1 or 2 tensioners
8 halves of the flowline clamps
8 I-Beam rails/stands painted yellow
1 100foot pulling cable that looks like it could topple a tall building
2 fork lift ready heavy duty steel racks/stands
2 possible turret buoy assemblies w/BSLs
various other flotation products that have been appearing
Cheers
This list is just off the top of my head, Jan, Feb, and part of March

Assembly Bay, 8 of these items.
I also noticed outside in the wider camera view there are 4 rows
of flotation = 36 total
You are sure right about this being a sizeable project,
if all the unknown and new items we have seen on camera
are for the same project this one will be the biggest project
I've ever seen them do.
If not all for the same project, then I must assume they have a number of projects going on.
I am quite sure the 3 or 4 platforms at DDI North are going to be mud sleds of some sort. The type of steel being used and the
air bubble holes in the deck steel kind of give that one away.
Did you happen to see what they unloaded from the flatbed this
morning?
Work still continues @ DDI North,
lights still on, doors still open in the fab shop in Channelview.
Edit: Spooky! You beat me fair and square.
Yes I agree with your first sentence and then asked him to explain what he meant when he said "the rules of disclousure" are less for the big guys than they are for the little guys.
There is a real difference between "designated qualified investors" and "everyday shareholders", and the rules are different. It is those specific differences that I was interested in.
I guess this is where I am not following you, because in your next post you state this..
"Also in the case of a pipe the rules of disclousure are less because all purchasers are designated qualified investors that may lose all thier investment without economic hardship"
#msg-36196242
Is there a difference in what they can say to "qualified investors" versus what they can say to "all small shareholders"??
All any small investor needs to do is take a look at the cameras at both locations and see it is quite apparent that DPDW is working on contracts.
I don't think they drag these guys in on the weekends just to practice their welding skills or to "put on a show" for us.
Do you?

Spooky, #msg-36183226 here are some drawings of the TRBMs and their installation. I think these are from before FT was acquired by DPDW, and one shows a wee bit of humor from FT..

Elsiecat, I found it running a web search. The other alternative is to watch the FBO site for all smaller gov. purchases.
In answer to the questions about PR'ing this news, First, I am not that sure these six items pricewise would add up to a "material event".
Secondly it is a solicitation notice, not an award yet.
Almost always a sole-source solicitation will be awarded to the named company, but we know this company tends to be on the conservative side with PRs. One way or another, when it's awarded
we will find it.

Subsurface Trwal Resistant Mounts/Flotatations
Solicitation Number: NWWG9502-9-05361
Agency: Department of Commerce
Office: National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
Location: National Data Buoy Center
Notice Type:
Presolicitation
Synopsis:
Added: Feb 09, 2009 2:21 pm
The National Data Buoy Center intends to negotiate only with Flotation Technologies Inc. of Biddeford, ME for the following:
0001: 4 Each, AL-200 Trawl Resistant Bottom Mount; RDI 300KHz/1200 KHz Instrument Gimbal; Single Release Installed with remote transducer head(ensure compatibility with ORE 8011M Acoustic Deck Set); 200M Depth Rating with 400m of 1/4" Spectra line installed
0002: 2 Each, 49" ADCP Buoy; 2000M Depth rating; Extended Frame for upward and downward looking 75KHz RDI ADCP Instruments
This sole source justification is for the procurement of Syntactic Foam Trawl Resistant Bottom Mounts for ADCPs and Syntactic Foam ADCP Floats. A market search has indicated that Floatation Technologies is the only company that provides specialized syntactic foam instrument housings for ADCPs. The ADCP floats are needed for a subsurface mooring that will house two of these instruments. The Trawl Resistant Bottom Mount has an integrated acoustic release with line that allows for easy recovery of the entire mount and anchor. They are the only known manufacturer of this type of arrangement. The design is such, that if the tether line should break the syntactic foam in the trawl resistant part of the design ensures that your instrument will make it to the surface for recovery.

This might be a good question for JDS and Odinepinetree to ask
on their upcoming visit.

Will the test facility be located in Channelview?
Just what exactly are they going to test?
Article: Deep Down moves into new Houston digs
Monday, March 2, 2009
Houston Business Journal
Deep Down Inc. has moved into a new corporate headquarters after more than tripling its work force within the past two years.
The Houston oilfield services company’s new location is at 8827 W. Sam Houston Pkwy. North in Northwest Houston.
“In just two short years, Deep Down’s workforce has grown from less than 50 to more than 165 employees, we have successfully completed three acquisitions, the most recent being our Maine buoyancy facility, and we have more than quadrupled our annual revenues since then,” Ronald Smith, Deep Down’s president and chief executive officer, said in a statement. “The new corporate headquarters will allow us to more effectively manage our current operations as well as future acquisitions.
Deep Down’s (OTCBB: DPDW) corporate location houses its top level management and operations as well as support staff.
The company also operates service and fabrication facilities in Channelview, Morgan City, La., and Biddeford, Maine.

Article: Deep Down Expands Maine, Texas Facilities in Expectation of Growing Sales
HOUSTON (March 3) — Deep Down Inc. announced plans to expand its buoyancy manufacturing facility in Biddeford, Maine, and flotation testing services center in Texas.
[ 3/3/2009 ] By: News Brief
The expansion projects are in response to recent orders and anticipated demand for the company's drilling riser buoyancy system used in ultra-deepwater production.
The Biddeford facility’s expansion effectively doubles its buoyancy manufacturing capacity, the company said.
Deep Down acquired the Biddeford facility from Flotation Technologies Inc. last year in conjunction with its continuing strategy to expand services in the deepwater and ultra-deepwater drilling and production markets, according to the company.
Subsequently, the company announced an $11 million order for its deepwater drilling riser buoyancy modules to be installed on the Delba III semisubmersible drilling rig, which has a long-term contract to drill in Brazilian waters.
“Deep Down’s primary opportunities are in the growing deepwater drilling and production services sector,” said Ronald E. Smith, president and CEO of the Houston-based company. “To ensure our company is prepared to meet demand, we have committed more than $2 million to expand production and testing service capabilities. We have undertaken this expansion to advance Deep Down's strategy to become a leader within the deepwater buoyancy marketplace.”
Ground has been broken on the first phase of the expansion project, with construction to improve the Biddeford facility’s shipping access and operational functionality. The second phase of the project, which includes the Biddeford facility’s expansion and a Texas-based testing service facility, is slated to begin later this year.

Yeah, then they go on to say that the 21 day waiting period never worked and that it is quite impossible to even file all the required information in that period.
lol

Actually there are several types of 'comments'.
1) official comments between the SEC and the company
(these are the comments that matter to the issue of 'Effect')
2) comments about the filing process from the company such as:
* "we have filed"
* "will announce when (we) receive no further comments"
3) comments about the filing or filing process from posters on message boards
#1 are the comments that matter, they are the 'comments' meant
in the 'commenting' process.
