Facts are immune to your ill-informed opinions. Politics is opinions, and science nomenclature represents facts. Words have immutable meanings, as opposed to in casual language.
You're simply using sloppy, public language to describe a science idea (like the word 'theory' in public vs. science).
If you want to use sloppy language, you'll have sloppy conversations where you talk past people. If you correct your misconceptions, you can have a better communication outcome.
You're not wrong according to Websters, but Shakespeare and Darwin use slightly different dictionaries, unfortunately for everyone.
It's not really a debate. Your word choice is sloppy and I'm a molecular biologist by profession so I'm just going to leave my posts to speak for themselves and not debate further. It's pedantic.
Sorry you're 100% correct. I forgot about the knockouts. Very important
The 'platform worm' was bred (not altered directly) artificially to create a base worm genome that was efficiently edited. This was done by ensuring consistency in genes such that when KBLB made an insertion, the results were more predictable and consistent between individuals. We always edit starting from a platform worm so that we know what genomic background we're starting with.
It's not about the results, it's about the technique and the intent. It's semantics to an extent but it's important to protect from misunderstandings about what's going on.
A single base pair mutation can lead to complete lethality, while 1 million contiguous base pairs of the mouse genome can be cut out with no obvious effect.
We didn't mutate silkworms, we added novel DNA that wasn't there. Mutate ~ change what's already there. Mutations happen naturally at a very slow rate, or we can cause that rate to increase by intervening. We didn't change the mutation machinery to make our silk, we nicked the DNA, pasted new DNA in, and sealed up the nick. That's not mutation.
Those are different, independent things.
No, it an insertion. Mutations occur by errors (forced or random) of the DNA replication machinery.
I think it's jargon shorthand for fabric testing protocols or programs. I'd be very surprised if there's salvageable data there
Also, as an aside, the mutation thread needs to go away. It's very, critically misinformed.
I don't think that analogy holds:
A knock off LV purse is one that was made by a parallel process and sold as original.
A resold LV purse was made by LV, stolen, and resold for profit, but is original.
In these terms:
1) Re-Engineered worms (which get easier by the day, you don't need a trillion tries anymore I promise you) are the knock off (Harder but more legal)
2) Stolen and bred worms are resold items. (Easy but illegal)
Just to be clear, I don't think either will affect KBLB in the medium term, this is just another one of those "nothing else to talk about" deals.
I agree with that, as a 'second'.
There's still plenty of room to slide safely if you look at the chart. This move was very nice, healthy, and slow. People will take their profits, and others will load up at the newly 'cheap' prices knowing that the next major update will put us over that top.
Maybe Kim can work quickly and catch some people with their pants down...Nothing like a good scramble to excite the PPS.
Addition: And what I'd REALLY like to see is a volume explosion as people gobble up said 'cheap' shares. That's how you set the new floor. As of the last few days, we're in a bit more of a 'feather falling on a warm autumn day' type of pattern, which creates much more noise than signal.
More big orders on the Bid (260K) and Ask (360K) to start the day.
Very nice!
I'd profess that I think that pace and timeline could be faster or slower than anyone imagines. When it comes to a government like VN, I get the sense that they have complete control over the throttle. They can expedite and they can drag their feet. By their own words, they want this done quickly, so I guess we'll see.
Things do seem to be going better now in VN, insomuch as we're hearing FROM VN as well.
I hope that this is the group of people that can give Kim what he thought he had in the bag 3 years ago.
Agree to disagree.
It's already implied that it's delayed. Johnny's tiwed fwom his big twip!
So log off and watch your trading account, because there's fudge-all else to talk about while Kim reloads his carrot fishing pole.
My original comments were not from a vacuum. It's a conversation that you chose to enter into. I can't change Kim into less of a wormy lawyer, but I can talk about news and science. In lieu of news or science that needs discussing, I'll participate in board round tables, 90% of which I enter to act as counterbalance to someone spewing fan boy nonsense about Kim being an unblemished golden child. As much as my repetition annoys you, theirs offends me more.
Peace and PPS rise for all
Better communication via PRs for material information and social media for soft updates would keep a LOT OF this chatter down.
That, and proofread company communications through someone with a stronger sense of business ethics. Read: Fewer lawyers
RTFMB
Kim has given us nothing better to talk about.
You can 100% go back to my posts personally and find my linguistic breakdowns of MANY PR's and newsletters in real time.
When I say things could have been done better, that's technically hindsight. But I call it in real-time as well, as do many here that occasionally get bashed for calling Kim out on his very slimy language use.
Hell, when I had the time I used to color code bull versus new material information so that the rose-colored apologists had to argue specific points back. And here we are years later having the same conversation. Do you know why? Because Kim promised to communicate better in 2015 (!!!!) and our best PR in the last few months was written by the Vietnamese government.
He stated in 2014, 2015, and 2016 that he had the means to deliver commercial product. Explicitly. Many times.
Well they'd certainly get to mass production levels quicker than we are...
Another $30k offer on the bid this morning
That pipeline is really important and something lots of people are trying to figure out. With Kim teasing, and still not delivering a single detail, about a second international location your thoughts could be on the right track.
1) Worms live and spin in VN
2) Silk is exported to second international location for processing into product
3) Product imported from country with which we have a better economic relationship
So, Kim and Jon, where's the second international location? 8/31/2016 was 141 days ago...
Well we're in fun times!
The vibe on the board when things are cruising is a much more fun energy, and it makes it much more fun (and productive) to have bigger conversations, versus when people are all depressed and bored.
The stock is buzzing fine on its own without this board needing to perpetually fan the flames. One very positive thing about this board is that people can be both enthusiastic and critical. Even our most flamboyantly optimistic posters are capable of highlighting strengths and weaknesses, where they weren't always before.
Look at who's here who normally isn't, notice who's not here that usually is, and realize that this is a great opportunity for flippers (who have every right to flip and make money) but it's not really the foundation onto which significant and stable PPS increases can root themselves.
I'm asking posters about their estimates for the next tangible news release, because I'm interested in accomplishments and not plans.
My position is that the next BIG thing we're likely to hear about is either a formal agreement with VN (not just a plan) and/or samples from Indiana possibly leading to a prospective order or agreement with our yet-to-be-named major sports apparel company.
I don't see why either of those two possibilities couldn't be coming very soon down the pike, before Army results or full-scale production beginning in VN.
The multiple days of healthy volume and SP increase/holding are nice to see.
The real question, as it always is with KBLB, is when are they going to finally release the news that will get us out of the single digits and onto the radars of those with the capacity to push us up to the next level.
It starts and ends with KBLB's ability to communicate progress and a business plan. The way Kim and Jon are running things RIGHT now, we are valued at 6-8 cents per share. The only thing that will change that, I believe, is a change in communication through a no-nonsense PR about a major milestone being reached, not aimed at.
The newest news out of VN was nice, and it had a positive effect on the SP, but it's still only plans. The only thing that will pop the lid off is tangibles. Do they have tangibles in play? Something that can actually come to fruition in the next few months?
- Army results will take some time still, I believe, well into Q2, if not Q3. Things still have to be woven, delivered, and tested. That's not a week-long process, it's months long I'd guess.
- Actually beginning production in VN will take much more time, I believe. Perhaps the announcement of a finalized deal to begin production will come sooner than that...
- Announcing plans for another domestic/international facility are just plans, and are already cooked into the price as they're prospective and not tangible. As many have stated, metric ton production in the States seems financially out of reach, and domestic sites are likely best characterized as R+D sites.
- Can we get a partnership announcement based off of sample quantities we're able to make in Indiana? Can we make the same samples we made for the Army and give them to UA/Nike/etc. to test and actually get a commitment from that?
'We plan to', 'we're taking steps to', etc are all well and good, but that's worth 6-8 cents a share. 'We have', 'We signed', 'We sold' are worth a whole heck of a lot more.
So Kim and Jon, what have we been doing to reach those milestones besides plan? The Spider Sense won't likely tell us anything new, and it's going to be delayed to boot. The fun guess on the board is that delays are good. They're delaying because they want to wait to include something. History disproves that.
What is the next PR that could possibly come that would actually move the needle? That's the question I'm waiting for an answer to.
Honestly, I wonder what a strong rumor or a real contract from UA/Nike/Reebok would do for us in the same vein. It's so bothersome to me that Kim alluded to a Q4 2015 announcement of a collaboration and in Q1 2017 we still are no closer to knowing anything. He's a full year off of his own estimate and counting.
Mind you, I agree with the MYRIAD of posters here that have explained why no major brand would partner up without assurances of quantity/quality, but it still niggles me that he had the gall to bring it up so many times in 2015 slyly when he was nowhere near being able to announce it.
Hahaha oh man. That's both awful and wonderful at the same time.
That said, if Elon Musk wants to plot down a few million dollars and hint at wanting spider silk, I wouldn't complain.
Hell, someone can just buy out my shares at .50 and I'll walk away right now :)
