High 70's here in the Great State of Florida. Need to go get off computer now and enjoy.
Great weather indeed and a good day to be a Gator.
Took a nice walk outside today!
sweating it out over here with 400,000
Hmm I just tried to buy 10,000 at .025 to see what would happen and TD wouldnt allow. Why is it that there are some stocks I can buy well above ask and then there are some I cant? Anyone have an answer? I wanted to try to push it up positive.
You are placing a limit order, right? That is, limit the price I will pay to the following maximum amount (.025). If TD can get it for you for less (the current ask) they usually do.
Thank you, ok, is a non merger the end of the world?
I don't think so. I think the market has factored in the uncertainty already at this price. If they bank some revenue from some real sales that will help more than anything else.
Is owning behl smart?
It's an open question up for debate. We will see. The worst thing that happens here is that I lose money while trying to invest in something I think will be good for the planet. I may have picked wrong this time. I can afford to wait a bit longer to find out.
If I profitted lets say $40 on a different stock, sold it and invested it all in a losing stock, lets say, this one. Do I have to pay taxes on the stock I profitted on even though I lost it on this one if I am still holding this one?
Absolutely yes.
Or do I have to sell this one to offset the gains from the other?
Yes, you have to sell to realize the loss in the current tax year. Until you sell it's only a "paper loss". The same goes for gains. It's only recognized as a gain when you sell it to someone else.
sin, i think you can only write off like 3 grand on any year stock loss, even if you loose a million....cAn only claim 3 grand
That write off constraint is against income that is not related to capital gains and the loss can be carried into future years. There is no constraint with stock gains (also known as capital gains). If you had a million dollars in capital gains (realized by selling in the current tax year) and a million dollars in losses (realized in the current tax year or carried forward from previous years) you would not owe any taxes. But, you also would not have made or lost any money. Well... you would have lost some money given that money has "time value".
PS Steve Spurrier is denied again this year. I'm a happy man today even being down 68 percent in the algae farming business.
How many months before you give up waiting for your sell cue?
In about 1.5 months it will be time to make a "tax decision". If BEHL doesn't have much more going for it than it does now, I might have to use it as write off fodder.
I hope we see 0.05 again. I double, I sell.
Heh... you double and I get my shirt back. I'll take it.
It's 2milbuys abd 2mil sells, problem is bid wacking going on hard here.
I can't seem to watch this at level 2 with TD Ameritrade.
Mercy... I thought I sad when I was only 9k down.. 12.2K now...
This is the longest bleed I've ever done. Most pinkies have there ups and downs with a general trend down.
Please DF throw us bone. :(
Look at it this way: You invested in a technology that might save the world. So it didn't happen this time. It was worth a shot.
I definitely agree. There are some things I have intentionally not invested in because I disagree with the product or business practice. I really do love this algae stuff. In fact, the reason I put more money here than I normally would at this risk level was due to dreaming about owning my own PBR and farming algae. Was hoping to use the profit from the stock as a down payment. I can hold this for years if need be. I'll see where we are around Christmas and either fold or hold depending on the outlook.
I hope this makes a little sense.
Makes a lot of sense. Great post, worth a peoplemark.
I hate this board right now. Anyone that bought this stock should know the risk involved. I bought in at .055 and really don't feel bad about it. I can hold this stock for ten years if I have too. More importantly, I didn't put any money into BEHL that I couldn't risk losing. I'm sorry this stock didn't make everyone rich overnight that invested in it but stop being a bunch of complaining pansies!
I hate to break it to you but it's not going to get any better unless the pps gets back to the .04 - .05 range. I'm in pretty close to where you are. The complaining is not a result of "getting rich overnight". I did my DD and I didn't invest with that expectation. I also didn't invest more than I could afford to lose. But, I also did not come here to be down over 60 percent. Some of the complaining is about legitimate concerns with respect to fluff PRs and lack of follow through in several areas. It will get louder as the pps falls further.
Close to 2 million bought at .0019 in the last 15 minutes.Ask not budging where are all the shares comming from?
I don't know but I sure hope there is some consolidation going on. I still fear there are a whole lot more sub penny shares to be had.
I hate the shorting going on. If you believe this just sell???
I believe that some day in the future the pps will be higher than it is right now. Regardless, I'm here till the end of the calendar year at the very least. Between now and then someone might be willing to hand me that nickel - stranger things have happened.
If you're losing money, leave.
Can't do that - I'm Irish and very stubborn about these things.
If you hate the company, leave.
I love these technology and do not hate the company (I do hate losing money and sharing grievances with total strangers is somewhat therapeutic).
If you don't like me, leave.
First time we've conversed I believe. You seem ok to me. I'm guessing you are a sub penny man.
If you want to play the lottery, go buy a ticket. This isn't it.
On this point, I'll have to disagree. Although I do think the odds are slightly better here than the lottery.
I'll leave you be for now - it's a beautiful day in sunny Florida.
How is it EVERYBODY'S problem that you picked a lousy entry point?
I suppose life just isn't very fair. I'm afraid you are stuck with myself and my "brothers in loss" unless you want my deal. I'm guessing from your response that would be a 'no'.
No...the people who are upset are the people bleeding to death for months.
Amen Brother, you have written true.
Can the company grow after an RS, absolutely, am I going to be an investor, most likely I will buy back after the RS and attempt to recoup the funds I will lose tomorrow morning at the open when I sell my shares minimizing my loss. This is post #15 for me so you BEHLers have ball.
I would advise against doing that. There is no evidence of a large reverse split.
I've got a lot larger loss going on then you at the moment. At this point, the thing to do is hold on till the end of the year. At current levels, there is more upside potential then down. Wait a bit more for things to turn around or take the loss at year end to offset gains. Taking the loss now doesn't make a lot of sense (unless of course you have some inside information about some other stock - then, by all means avail yourself).
You don't know why people sell shares at this low price. Well they are probably making a bundle and you just don't know it. Bought at .0002, sell at .02 What is so hard to figure out.
Yes, that is one of my fears. I worry that there are lots and lots of shares still being held at sub penny.
I'm quite sure the complaining by "we who have lost loads of cash" is annoying to all the sub penny holders out there. It would annoy me if I were a sub penny holder. You have to understand that it's therapeutic for myself and my "brothers in loss" to vent from time to time.
Hopefully the airing of grievances will soon end. If BEHL were to move up to a nickel happiness would flow. If it moved on up to a dime you would hear joy, bask in sunshine, and taste chocolate (metaphorically of course). I doubt that I will personally experience the nirvana that is to be had past a dime (will be hard for me to hold past a dime - the spirit being willing but the flesh being weak and all).
Send them your resume. :)
Seriously.
At the moment, I doubt very much that they could afford me. :)
edit: though the webmaster could use some punctuation/spelling lessons :p
The webmaster should do a lot of things.
1. Add the new PR person to the "BEHL team list"
2. Get rid of all autoplay stuff on pages (If I want to hear/see it I'll click it, thanks)
3. Some content about how money is going to be made.
4. I'm not sure an endorsement from the "Girls of Peepshow" helps draw in serious investors (I would lose that kind of thing).
5. Any decent website has a way to search for content on the site itself !
I could go on but I'll stop for now (Hey Monique <sic???> if you are doing the website for BEHL now at least get your name on there).
Nothing mystifying about it, the proof is long term investors are not in control of the float, and we are only gaining a small amount of new long term investors. Those in control of the float currently are flippers and traders.
Cripes, two great PRs and I'm 9K in the hole... It is somewhat tempting to buy up a bunch at this level to average way down and help get some control of that float. But, 18K at risk is all I can stand at the moment. Looks like I'll be drinking some more Glenfiddich tonight. It's probably a good thing I don't drink while the market is open <big sigh>.
I am my great grandfather was a full blooded irish man last name Costello.
Heh, fantastic. I know sterotypes are not the best thing. But, I tell you I've never met a fellow Irish person that wasn't stubborn as the day is long after making a decision about something (good or bad)!
I got so caught up in the dream of this marvelous technology that I didn't put in my normal sell at 10 percent loss trigger. Anyway, of course I hope BEHL turns around.
gaa, those are nice stories, this stock is going down daily. I like the technology but not the stock. I keep telling myself to take a loss and get out. I starting buying at 0.065 so you can see my grief. I am prepared to take a loss but waiting for a bounce but only to see more losses everyday.I am REALLY PISSED OFF HERE.
Might as well hold till year end... that's my plan anyway. I've got over 6 figures of short term gains this year so I really can't complain. She may pop before December 31. If not then I might sell and take the loss against the gain. The again, I might hold out of spite.
Years ago during the .com bubble I worked for SFE safeguard scientifics. Bought at 4 or 5 dollars. Went to over 200 dollars and road it all the way back down. Can you say stupid!
ok, that really takes the cake... Are you by chance Irish like me?
My average was 1.15 and sold over 2 dollars.
But you have to believe in company and mgt. If you do not, sell and take your losses.
or, if you have Irish genes like I do, you'll hold on to the bitter end since it will make you very pissed off taking the enormous loss and then get very angry about the complete loss for years to come...
For some reason, I also feel compelled to swim upstream and currently use BEHL to justify drinking expensive single malt scotch.
I should probably change my handle to "yea_geilt".
So far, it seems this company is preparing for Clinical Trial successes. Receiving funds ($3.3mil) and adding members of high credentials on their team and board usually supports this idea.
It's just amazing to me that the stock has tanked after this news. Getting 3.3 million in funding is the best news to come along in a long while. How in the world did this trade 2 to 3 dollars last year and we are at 30 cents now with this news. It just doesn't make sense to me. It's close to it's all time low. Does anyone else know what is going on?
Someone help my understand why we can't get more of a boost when the market is up so much today. We should be in the mid 40s or higher... I just don't get it. AIG is making progress.
1- The company becomes fully reporting and the share structure would be more clear and up to date which is a good thing!
What stops them from doing this now? If the company thought there were benefits to fully reporting and being completely transparent about the share structure why wouldn't it being doing that right now?
Some were not as 'lucky' as you...they now hold a bag full of .10 shares. Did you sell them yours?
My bag is holding .05 cent shares and getting lighter (and not because I have sold any)... I'm very much hoping we get some real news about real revenue soon. This is painful. In 15 years of trading stocks, I've been a bag-holder just one time. I'm still pretty confident this will turn around. But, we are going to have to start selling stuff. Getting paid for the 2,000kg algae order will be start.
In NOW!!!!!
Love the alias... hopefully you bring some with you...
might have to forgo Christmas if things don't pick up soon (just kidding)
Come on Fisher... show us some PBR sales!
Does all that is good about mankind and the American know- how spirit triumph; over the forces that set to weaken and destroy, taking hearts and minds along for the ride? Or do the profiteers of hunger, whom seek to quash the zeal and weaken the fortitude of the reinforcements, take down that ray of hope, that energizes the masses which beg for nourishment?
Not sure we need to make an epic film of good versus evil here. :)
If it's true that a PBR can be sold for 300K and it allows the buyer and BEHL to make a decent ROI, we'll probably be OK.
No I don't need millions. I don't want now-and I am graetful to God for that. My investment in these penny stocks is small by about anyone's standards.
Sounds like you are already a wise person. I play some pennies hoping to generate cash for dividend stocks - been a good year so far. I love this algae stuff and the idea of helping the planet and making some money at the same time. That's not working out with BEHL so far but I'm still optimistic about it.
At this point, I'm trying to generate wealth for my PIGS - passive income generators - not to have more stuff but to cover the case wherein I might lose my well paying job. The goal is to be able to make the mortgage payment and put food on the table without using debt or eroding capital while looking for a new job. Should be there in a year or 2 if I continue to be blessed as I have been this year.
It is a sad commentary on our society when the goal is fame and fortune -by any means necessary. I'll pick up those reads.
Sad indeed. I'd rather keep my good name. Another benefit with PIGS is that for me it's a lot easier to help others (materially) when I feel like my own situation is well covered.
P.S. I've been called loco a few times myself.
Heh... if you find yourself at odds with society in general, you are probably doing much better than average... I feel that way anyway (and struggle with pride)...
But, then again I am not a millionaire so what do I know.
I wouldn't put much stock in someone's net worth as an indicator of their business, investment or management talent. It all depends on how they got the money. Right now I'm reading "Conspiracy of Fools" (the story of the Enron collapse). It's a great lesson about greed and incompetence at the highest levels of the American financial world. I'd also highly recommend "The Millionaire Next Door" if becoming a millionaire is one of your goals.
There is potential with BEHL but don't go "all in" on it (that would be true for anything on the pinks). If you score big you are in danger of underestimating the risks that come with all stocks in this group in your decision making process. If you lose you lose it all. And, in this category the odds are with losing. I know many people here don't want to hear that. A lot of them are sitting on shares they bought at a sub-penny and feeling pretty smart. In truth, you are like the guy who flips heads 5 times in a row - very very lucky this time around (or, had access to inside information).
• Algenol’s first commercial project for ethanol production will begin sales in Sonora, Mexico by the end of 2010.
NO SALES
Fair enough. Just trying to do a little DD on the competition. The media gallery is quite impressive.
Yes it is a nascent industry but that does not mean there is only one company. There are several startups and there will be plenty of room for many players. Most are not publicly traded however. Also, I believe the open pond systems are not going to be as productive; to many problems with contamination.
Take a look at their media gallery... you will see they have a closed system like we do... except it's a lot larger (ariel shots even).
They arn't nasdaq but here is some competition that seems to be making so much money they need to hire more people to count it:
http://www.algenolbiofuels.com/jobs.html
It's in Florida too... I would apply, but I'm not very fond of south Florida and it would be very hard to keep up with the rich kinfolk that live in Naples.
This is my first post on this board. I bought into BEHL in august around 5 cents after it came down from the huge run to .15.
I'm right there with you brother! We are only down 26 percent after today. Hopefully, it will be less after tomorrow. Heed my advice young brother - if she makes it back to the 6 or 7 cent range, take some profit!
This video ROCKS!!
It is a very good video statement and I am tempted to "double down" at these levels, I really am... but, I've got almost 19K at risk and I'm in the red for 32 percent at .032 (6K)...
Going to hold tight for now. I think there is a future in algae farming but BEHL is not the only player. I am a bit concerned about the competition being better funded and able to deliver a commercially viable PBR to the market faster then BEHL. I want to believe that DF and BEHL have the "lowest cost and most profitable" PBR today. But, the details on that are light at the moment. We pretty much have to take it on faith from Dennis at this point in time.
