Update : Son been very sick - Went to one doc office this AM, back to another this afternoon in a little while. I haven't paid attention to stocks too closely.
I'm not sure if I posted my full orders yesterday. Bought ACST 3,500 total (was partial fill at first - but filled eventually) @ $1.22. I'd like to get 8-10k shares around the $1.22 price. Will sell on any spikes of $.08-$.10 and enter again on any dips (once settlement of funds). ACST has been bottoming / basing nicely around $1.20-$1.24ish for a while.
Bought 4,000 SYN @ avg of $3.13 yesterday. Waiting on Pertussis data and then another catalyst in late April.
See now...that all makes sense then. Was kinda my point all along that we never know why others sell. In this case it did seem like mass panic over the paid promoters, etc.
I was just very confused at the turnaround. Nothing wrong with jumping to get a better opportunity. Let us know if it worked out for you. We're all here to learn. I commend you for selling and making a move. It's one of the things that I'm still trying to teach myself. That its ok to move on (even with a small loss) if there's a better opportunity out there. I tend to be stubborn with my picks, so that's something I need to work upon.
hesse, do you follow it up with a confirmation signal of some sort which gives you an exact or as close to an exact time to jump in? Like the MACD crossing or MACD moving above 0? Or is it just the divergence which gives you the clue to jump in?
Or is this just the first signal and then you use other indicators? I'm going to go back and looks at some charts and see if this worked for those. Thanks.
I just found it strange that you repeatedly posted VERY positive messages about the stock over a period of one to two days like you were all in, giving it very high price targets, and then calling out others for selling and saying that they will regret that they ever sold it, and then you sell it the very next trading day. Doesn't that seem like a complete 180 degree turn in a very short time period?
I am not in the stock at the moment. Like you I am deciding my proper entry, or deciding if there's a better option out there. I was planning on a day trade or swing trade of a few days, but I missed my entry and didn't want to go chasing it. Was my bad.
Whether or not people trust me, or my opinion is up for them to choose. I try my best to be open. Good Luck. Let's hope CYTR finds a base here and makes it way back up going forward.
OT : 16" USB Monitor / $80. BioRunUp tweeted about these 16" USB monitors avail at Amazon for under $80. Seems like a good idea. I think I'll get one in the next month or so and see how it works and let you all know. I wonder if they'd work with tablets. Hmmmm.
@BioRunUp
Sweet mobile command center... two 16" USB powered displays... only $80 each.

CRIS : Yes, I still like it. Nice move today. Didn't have the guts/strength that you had in it, only because it was at a semi-support level. I chickened and was waiting for a stronger support and/or wanted to wait until the markets decided that the Russian situation was solved enough for them at the moment (until a few days). Was happy to see it move today and hopefully it'll keep going. Otherwise I'll keep watching for an entry.
I guess its like my APPY/SYN theory though...your CRIS entry, theory being that there's not always a *perfect* entry and sometimes you just have to eye it along with the catalyst coming.
That reminds me, I need to check hesse's chart of CYTR for an entry (no avail money) but still on watch.
Yup. I meant, layered in blankets after his temp dropped to 96.5. Temp back to just about normal after two hours now.
The strange part was the dark circle in the ear which looked like an infection, but turned out to be ....dark purple ink from a stamp kit he was playing with earlier in the day. must have shoved his finger in his ear. lol.
Glad to hear she's sleeping. Nothing worse then a sick child. I gave him some Tylenol. First time that's happened like that for either of my kids. He was a bit pale. Layered him up in blankets and he's doing much better (but now is wide awake after sleeping earlier). May be a long night :)
SYN : $3.05 - Good Volume again today. I didn't have the best of entries, but am ok with that. I figure its a similar entry to my APPY trade, in that overall, I think the price will be higher a few days, or a weeks from my entry. I can always average down if there's a swoon.
Besides the April Catalyst there's also going to be Pertussis data released before the end of March.
Watch to see if it falls to the upper old resistance / new support of the triangle for entry.

OT : My son has had both a fever and a low body temperature tonight (that's a new one for me). Very strange. Kinda like the stock market swings. Always something with kids :)
CYTR - You Sold? After your rant about those who sold CYTR are going to regret their decision? That it's going to 100. One day later you sold? Strange.
I agree you never know what's going on behind the closed doors of companies, and whom to trust. Just like you never know what's going on behind these messages and whom to trust. I understand wanting to sell for a better opportunity elsewhere, which is what I mentioned might be a reason the others sold. Best of Luck.

I'm out. GLTA
GO CYTR
Yes, temps always seem to be a few degrees higher at night when they run a fever. I've read up on it some and it seems that around 5pm to midnight or so is when your body's natural cycle is the warmest, so makes sense fever would be higher then too. (3a-6am ...coldest).
Of course if a fever lasts for more than a few days and/or not getting better or other probs, go see a doc just in case.
My daughter had pneumonia off an on for 2 years. Was a fun time with her high fevers :) A lot of long nights and a lot of "The Wiggles." (whatever works).
Never heard of the Be Kool. thx. Just keep watch of the fluids.
That is also what we have done. The alternating. My daughter is now 11. She's had very high fevers of 105-106 (not kidding - never seizured though) all through her childhood. Get some popsicles, preferably pedialyte, but any will help.. Make sure she has plenty of fluids. Pedialyte comes in 3 flavors, and walgreens n other store sell generic cheaper versions too. You can mix it in small amounts in other drinks, or dilute with water if daughter wont drink. Gatorade as backup. Anything to keep from dehydrating.
hesse, i'll be looking at this later. Thanks. I love this type of info. We keep working on these charts and improving, we'll do well. busy real life day for me
I believe that the Virginia area is being hit by up to 10 inches of snow today. That might be behind his absence so far.
SYN : BOUGHT 4,000 SYN @ $3.13
based upon catalyst end of April and trade2much chart annotations:

I have obstacles out the wahoo this AM so wasn't able to get a good entry. IMO, should do well going forward. no biggie.
-----------------------
ACST Partial fill order 1,000 @ $1.22. Have order for 2,500 more not filled yet. Catalyst in June, is farther off, but has support here. So giving it a "go."
PLUG - Going from 1 to 11 in 3 months, somethings gotta give at some point, whether that's in one day or over a few days or longer. I'm not at my best with these high flyers when they don't show any sign of retreat. I just feel like they're waiting for the air to be let out of balloon, so I typically stay away.
What's on horent's radar for this week?
RD2014 - CYTR: I buy and sell stocks to make money, and don't wish anyone to lose money or take joy if they do so. Quite frankly it's immaterial to me. People will do what they will do, and I will react to it and enter / exit a stock if it make sense according to my rules.
We all have to evaluate the best plan for ourselves. It's understandable for people to panic and/or to be confused when a company is accused of overstepping boundaries and acting unethically. In doing so, one might think that if they do it in one area of their business, that they may not be trustful in other areas as well. With thousands of stocks to chose from, exiting this one and moving on might be a valid situation for them.
Questions such as, can the data be trusted, can the business plan be trusted, can the people running the company be trusted? All valid questions.
I do not plan to be long in the company more than the time that I buy and sell the stock. Which may be anywhere from a few hours to a month. Chart looks good for a possibly entry and CYTR's potential also looks promising.
Still on watch for me. To each their own. Peace.
OT: Personal Wisdom : The Science of Older and Wiser
By PHYLLIS KORKKIMARCH 12, 2014
NY Times: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/03/13/business/retirementspecial/the-science-of-older-and-wiser.html
True personal wisdom involves five elements, said Professor Staudinger, now a life span psychologist and professor at Columbia University. They are
1- self-insight
2- the ability to demonstrate personal growth
3- self-awareness in terms of your historical era and your family history
4- understanding that priorities and values, including your own, are not absolute
5- an awareness of life’s ambiguities.
Wisdom in this sense is extremely rare, Professor Staudinger said, and research has shown that it actually declines in the final decades. As a coping strategy, it is better to be positive about life when you are older, she said, and the older people skew that way. They are more likely to look back on their lives and say that the events that occurred were for the best; a wise person would fully acknowledge mistakes and losses, and still try to improve.
True wisdom involves recognizing the negative both within and outside ourselves and trying to learn from it, she said.

Interesting article for those who are interested.
OBV Question: trade2much (or anyone else)...
When you have a spare moment, or when going through one of your charts and it pops out at you, could you please post an instance of how you use On Balance Volume as a buy/sell indicator (or as a confirmation along with other indicators).
Do you use it mostly when it signals a divergence or when it signals support of the trend's direction, or something else?
What works for me so far is support/resistance levels and then RSI, Full Stoch, and MACD. I am trying to learn the other indicators as well. (I can go back through of few of your recent chart posts, but was wondering if there's a "lightbulb over the head" signal that it gives that I'm unaware about).
Thank you. Best of luck.
Russian / Ukraine / Crimea Explained
I had a basic understanding of the situation and wanted to learn more. I searched and found this page for anyone that's interested about the situation and how it will affect the financial world, and the world in general. Vote to take place Sunday.

(this 2nd link may require a setup of a temp account with the financial times web site)
and yes, its partly how I spent a Friday night.
I sold 1/2 of LXRX due to market sell-off fears. lost $500 or whatever it was. Was the right thing to do.
Bought 5,000 ELTP - felt like it.
Side Note: Ned Jr.'s account bought options as a test and a hedge yesterday for next Friday (not this Friday as I wrote mistakenly).
Those stupid/test options (test because hadn't bought them in over a year and is a new interface now on TDA) for $120 right now have a % gain of: 208% in one day, much greater than any return that I've gotten on any stock. Done correctly options are good risk/reward. Done poorly, you can lose your house.
SDS (2x inverse bear of S&P): 10
BID 0.37
ASK 0.40
MKT VAL 370.00
COST 120.00
$ GAIN 250.00
% GAIN 208.33
Crazy huh? Normally, I'd take the money, and 208% gain, but in this case - it only was $120 to buy and if for some reason the Russia thing goes badly and the market open up down on Monday, it'll jump big. So might as well leave it.
And that is why I will do options as a hedge. I spent $120 this time, but going forward will do something like $300-$500.
My holdings were down about $1,000 today in total. If I did the options for $300 then I'd have $600 back as the hedge. Something to think about...
I know nothing...of INNV except the Smurf made total %$ on it. I have not looked at it more than a glance, only because when i checked it, it looked like it could make a FAST move, and I don't have any money settled as cash. For a fastmover, I'd want cash so I could buy/sell the same day or be able to sell fast. Maybe it was news for the pop/sell. will have to research.
So, I'm going to study the charts and whatever Smurf posted/posts about it for future entrance.
What is your timeframe fam401? Are you able to hold stocks for a few weeks or longer? What's your typical system?
I made $3,100 off of it (for me-that's alot). It fit my two rules of:
#1 Don't lose money
#2 Make money
Thanks again.
One never knows. I just like the odds more in my favor and a buy more at $2.95 or if the markets drag it down to $2.85. It may never get there though.
This Russian/Crimea vote on Sunday seems to have markets on edge. Markets don't like indecision. They like to know one way or the other IMO.
CRIS - At this point in it's Charts, and with the overall market, I'm going to wait before entering CRIS, until Monday or next week. If it moves up before me, so be it. I'd like the charts to be a little more in my favor instead of ...60/40 and an unsure market with Crimea vote on Sunday.
CYTR $4.01 - Oh well. Always another time :) At least the theory was right - execution was wrong. Still should have a level to get back in somewhere though.
Me too. Missed my entry. Will see if I can get it mid-upper 3.70's now
Bob, Thank you for the APPY article and posting info about it in the past. I researched and went for it and made 28%.
Much appreciated.
CYTR $3.65 inching...to $3.59 200DMA
trade2much,
Glad to see you here now. hesse and I were just commenting the other day about how we really appreciate your charting skills as well as your common sense approach and advice. looking forward to the charts.

Now can we start roasting trade2much?
Since I am in ELTP and not RNN I shall say that ELTP is totally awesome and that RNN sucks royally.
Just my opinion though based only on the facts that I own shares of ELTP and would rather that other people buy it to make it go up.
I've heard RNN has cooties*
*solely rumor
I think Smurf is in both, so he may be more impartial.
Yes, I read that bill yesterday. It's interesting to me. On a personal level I have to take some of these narcotic pills for my problems with my cervical (neck) fusion from surgery that has changed my life (not for the good).
I asked my doctor once about addiction and the pills. I said "how come I here so many stories of people abusing the pills and I never get any type of a high off of them?" He responded, "Because you're in pain."
I take 1/4 - 1/2 of what I probably should take just to be careful. But after 10 years of living with massive pain, and taking no meds but ibuprofen for a few years, I know my balance.
My doc also said that he's found "Either you have the addictive personality for it, or you don't."
It's an interesting debate, but I believe the pills should have some abuse deterrent in them in some form just in case. If ELTP can solve that, that's great!
ELTP - Am looking to add another 10-15k shares. I wasn't around for the 1st half hour of today's trading and then I like it's chart on the 15min level. Good Possibility of a sharp increase soon.
If not, no biggie. Will avg down if it goes down.
Do you know what moves faster then ELTP? It's iHub board. Holy crap, I added it to my fav's and the other day there were like 200-300 posts in a day. WTF. Had to delete it from my favs.
ELTP $.51 - Added 5,000 because I felt like it.
Status Filled at $0.51
Symbol ELTP
Description ELITE PHARM INC
Action Buy
Quantity 5,000 Shares
Route KNIGHT EQUITY MARKETS, L.P.
Order Type Limit at $0.51
CYTR: Not only is $3.59 the 200 DMA, but 350ish is also about the area of the lower Doji on the day after results when it spiked in Dec '13, the spike up in Oct '13 and a failed support line in Oct '12. Should be a good support area.
Need to go drop son's lunch off at school, had it in my hand when they distracted me. But will be watching this further and will post chart.
May wait until closing to enter, or Monday. Dunno.
That's makes complete sense. If the stock that you entered has gone south and the prospects don't look good for a return, then cut losses and enter another that will get you good prospects. The question is, did the markets take your stock down (and others too), what factors changed? Sentiment, news info, sales, etc.?
The only thing with losses for me is, and yes, I know I'm Captain Obvious here, but...
The object is to make money, so anytime you take a loss, you need to double that, in order to make $.
Loss of $1000, puts you at -$1000. Then you need two trades (or one, yes I know) of $1,000 each to put you up $1000.
One step back = Two Steps up. Because I'm not in this to break even.
So, I try and really examine losses, and whether its better to avg down, or cut and move on. Because there are literally hundreds of great plays out there every day, and it may indeed be good to cut and move on.
AEZS another offering. Wow. that's like the 3rd one since November??
AEZS = Ned stay away. Ned Jr. might dabble, he's an idiot know it all.
ok. thx
CRIS : What's the date for next week?
