In principle, I believe the republicans are right -- not because they are republicans but because for once they seem to be acting on the conservative belief that when we pass legislation, we should make provisions to pay for it.
In this particular case though, a pox on both their houses because despite appearances, neither side is taking a stand based on principle. Both sides are using the lives of human beings as a political football. Both sides are willing to sacrifice their fellow Americans for partisan political benefit.
Meanwhile, there are literally millions of American citizens who at the moment have nothing to live on except their unemployment benefits, which have now expired. They face starvation and the loss of everything, while the politicians play politics, using these folks like pieces on a game board.
The words depraved, heartless, and callous fall short of describing what is happening here.

This one should be a lesson for all those against legal gun ownership. The bad guys do not need a permit, nor the city's blessing to carry a gun. They will get their guns however possible. When you have such strict gun ordinances and a skyrocketing murder rate, maybe just maybe it is not the legal gun owners who are at fault?
You are advocating the use of common sense -- liberals will surely reject that.

Yes, the United States Supreme Court ruled correctly today that states and municipalities do not have the ability to ban citizens from owning firearms. In doing so, the court merely affirmed what the Constitution clearly says -- US citizens have the right to keep and bear arms.
But when he heard about the ruling, Chicago mayor richard daley vowed that it would not affect the city of Chicago or its citizens. Following true liberal tactics, daley said that he would regulate gun ownership to death, making it so difficult to actually get a gun permit that nothing would change because of the Supreme Court ruling -- Chicago citizens would still be unable to own guns.
That is the Chicago way of doing things.
obama is from Chicago.

In some instances I would agree with you, but as in most "rules of thumb", there are some actions or policies that fall outside those bounds. Guantanamo is a case in point.
Gitmo is the best answer to a thorny problem for the nation -- Bush made that assessment originally, and obama, by his actions, has affirmed the Bush/Chaney policy as being the best one.
It has nothing to do with politics, which admittedly is a rarity these days.

This is yet one more non-verbal admission by obama that he in fact believes that many Bush/Chaney policies were correct, despite the fact that he has often publicly denounced them.
Do not believe obama's words, believe his actions.

Well, I bet if the Dems came out with my plan to increase and enforce penalties against companies hiring illegals with no Amnesty for those how came here illegally, no one in their right minds would vote against that.
But in the real world, most all liberals (of both parties) would certainly vote against it. Amnesty is the key to future dem control of the country, so it is far more important to them than the good of the nation.

You are correct -- obama is far more committed to Afghanistan than he wants to be. He is also far more committed to the Afghan war than his liberal support base desires him to be. I look for him to bail out the first chance he gets -- both in Iraq and in Afghanistan.
So don't get your hopes for victory up -- obama probably loathes the military as much as each of the clintons do. obama is not a wartime president, and he has no stomach for it so I think the first time he can exit and spin the exit story in a halfway plausible manner, he will take the out. If he does not do so, his left wing base will stay home during the 2012 elections, so bailing out is a political necessity for him.
He will likely leave Afghanistan, Pakistan, Turkey, and Iraq to the taliban and the islamic terrorists, snatching defeat from the jaws of the hard won victory our troops fought and died for in Iraq.

Wrong?? I don't think so. Read my post again.
I never even hinted that what he did was correct or acceptable. I stated several times last night that what he did was wrong and that he deserved to be fired and would be fired. In fact, I correctly stated before their meeting that he would show up with his resignation letter in hand. I am in no way defending what he did.
What I am saying is that the guy is not stupid, and he had to have known that it was the end of his military career -- that has not happened yet, but I still believe it will be the end result. So why did he do it?? I think the answer to that question will be more interesting than the RS story that got him in this mess.
Again, you misread my post. I am not defending what he did, but I am very curious about all that led him to do it -- the rest of the story.

I do not think we have heard the whole story yet. Whatever else McChrystal may be, he is not stupid. He had to know the consequences of the story, yet he allowed the reporter to go ahead with full access to both himself and his staff. What I would want to know is "why??" I think when the full story comes out it will be much more interesting than the RS story itself.

I remember well the ordeal you went through with the death of your daughter. Losing a child has to be one of the toughest events a person can face and once again, I extend my condolences to you.
You have lived a long and full life -- and presumably over all it has been a good one, one that has been blessed by God, whether you acknowledge it or not.
Back to the war, of course there can be a one-sided religious war.
The islamics want to rule the world in the name of its god, allah, and to do so they are told by the koran to kill all the infidels. They are the aggressor in this war, not us. We fight to protect our homes, families, and way of life. We do not fight for Jehovah or any other god but we will not stand by idly when we are attacked.
One question is whether or not we have the backbone to do what it takes to defeat them. Another question is whether or not we will self destruct from the inside before the war is won or lost.
Take care, hap...

As I said, it is beyond me why you are unable to grasp that it is a "religious" war on one side only. They supposedly are fighting to conquer the world for their idol, allah. We fight to preserve our nations, our families, and our way of life.

You are "allowed" to mention this as often as you wish. The only reason you do not hear it elsewhere is that no one else is silly enough to view it that way.
We are at war with islamic terrorists. They claim to fight in the name of allah. None of their targets in the West claim to be fighting for Jehovah, because they are not.
Please show me all the people who are fighting in the name of Jehovah. There are none. Why you have this so firmly attached inside your brain baffles me, but it is irrational and flies in the face of all the facts.

I agree -- his timing chain is broken.
He should have resigned first, then aired out all the dirty laundry he desired.
I do not defend the way he has gone about this, but I can certainly see what the problems are that led up to the sacrifice of his career.
He found himself literally in a no win situation.
Bottom line, I believe he sees the war as being impossible to win given the very high level of negative political interference, a view with which I agree. This is VietNam II, if you will, and we will lose for the same reasons and because of the same type of people that caused us to lose in VietNam. I suspect this administration will also lose Iraq before all is said and done -- snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
If you have a situation that is important enough for a nation to send its young men to die in battle, let the military run the war.

My guess is that the general got to the point where he could no longer stand by and watch the effort in Afghanistan being undermined by an incompetent CIC and the equally incompetent white house staff constantly meddling in how the war was to be fought. All the needs of the military in the field were being trumped by politics here at home.
I believe he knew exactly what he was doing when he allowed the interview and all that he said was said intentionally.
I suspect he is coming home not to be fired, but to resign.
I have no idea if he has a political bone in his body, but if there is any desire there, it would be no shock to see him running for office (US Senate) in 2012.

I almost did not join a Baptist church because I thought it made too big a deal on one's mode of Baptism -- I was sprinkled since my first church after being saved was a Presbyterian church.
My first choice now would be to be immersed, but if someone is sprinkled, he or she is still my brother/sister in Christ. No problem.

I agree with you on government involvement in faith based organizations. I also agree as I have said many times here that government and religion should be separate. I do believe that "separation" has been carried too far in recent years, though, giving "the separation of church and state" a meaning foreign to what the Constitution itself says.
The government should stay out of religion while at the same time not hindering in any way the practice of religion, including in the marketplace.

LOL -- what an assortment of palestinian propaganda lies are found in that video!!
The palestinian narrator starts out by claiming that "the rockets that hamas fires do not have explosive warheads in them.". What a farce!! Does anyone on earth believe that??
Then he claims that the C/J foundation made the claim in their ad that "thousands of rockets per day" are being fired into Israel. That is a lie, as proved in their own tape. What the C/J foundation ad actually said is that hamas has thousands of rockets ready to fire into Israel -- probably a very true statement, especially if count all the rockets in Lebanon for that purpose. It is also very true that hamas has already fired many thousands of rockets into Israel, and that yes, they all had explosive warheads on them as opposed to the lies of the palestinians which can be found all through that video.

I hate that this might be true, but it is hard to come to any other rational explanation for obama's actions -- or should I say his inaction.
The only explanation that works to explain why obama has refused all the technical help to clean up the spill is that the progressive agenda comes first -- a good crisis should never go to waste.
There have been a number of ways to clean up the spill that have been demonstrated to be effective, and there are many ships dedicated to cleaning up oil spills that have been offered for our use, but obama has refused all these solutions. He has slow walked or denied all the best ways to prevent the oil from reaching our beaches, from oil booms to man made berms to scooping it up before it gets here.
But no, the oil spill is now far too important as an incentive for pushing through his far left "progressive" agenda for it to be solved quickly.
For obama, The Agenda is far more important than the oil spill.

Given our need for new sources of large amounts of inexpensive energy, there is absolutely no excuse for our nation to not aggressively develop nuclear power plants.
We can do so in a safe and efficient manner without all the bureaucratic quagmires that liberals want to bury such projects under. Their goal is to choke the process so that no nuclear plant will ever be built, but our national priorities are such that we have to unclog these bottlenecks and do it as quickly as possible while maintaining the long term safety for the communities where they are built.

In Genesis 12:3, God made His covenant with Abraham and declared to him:
And I will bless those who bless you,
And the one who curses you I will curse
God specifically directed the eternal promises of the Abrahamic and all the later covenants to the children of Abraham through first Isaac, then Jacob (Israel) and his descendants, saying that Israel would not cease being a nation and a people before Him for all eternity.
God later enlarged on the Abrahamic Covenant giving the Promised Land, from the River of Egypt to the river Euphrates to be an everlasting possession of Israel for all eternity.
"I will give to you and to your descendants after you, the land of your sojournings, all the land of Canaan, for an everlasting possession; and I will be their God." Genesis 17:8

More from your palestinian propaganda websites, I see.
In the first vid, I would hardly call that a "beating" -- certainly nothing like what we have seen from islamic countries. I also found it hard to discern how old the "children" were -- at the least, they were much older than small children. We also do not know what was said to cause the reaction -- it is certain that they did not address the soldier with anything remotely resembling respect. I also was unable to know for sure, but they seemed to be laughing as they left.
In the second, this is clearly no "child" by any stretch of the imagination. There is also no way to tell what precipitated the action by the soldier -- again it appears that the guy provoked the soldier a good bit.
But again, this is propaganda -- no reason to let facts get in the way.
