Assuming that the sp is falling due to reasons unrelated to the ultimate success of PPHM, how low can it go here? I would hate to miss what may be the last(we surely hope) really good buying opportunity.
Thanks,
Paul
Am I mistaken or are the same four posters making the same points repeatedly? Perhaps the moderators should consider adding one of those features that requires a poster to prove they are not just an automated posting algorhythm. Just a thought.
Paul
Are you suggesting that PPHM may benefit from the creation of an AIDS vaccine employing a BAVI like component? Could a vaccine be large enough to contain a MAB like BAVI?
Paul
Don't you all miss the endless dire reverse split warnings? I know I do. I read them religiously. Each one frightened me even more than the one before. I was really tempted to heed their advice and sell out my position. NOT!
The good scientific news just keeps flowing. If this keeps up, we might just start reading new warnings of whatever the scary opposite of a reverse split might be. I'm sure the reverse split cheering section will come up with something equally frightening.
It must be scary to come from a place where it's Haloween every day.
Paul
Reverse split - a non event! How can this be? I have noted hundreds of posts over the last year or so describing this as a horrible event that would devastate the PPHM share price. So far, we have only seen rising share prices on ho-hum volume.
Do you mean to say that all those posts and their ardent authors were completely wrong? I guess the underlying promise of Bavi, Cotara, etc. simply trumps the dread R/S. I suppose the longs who have focused board attention on "the science" have been vindicated at the expense of the PPHM management detractors. Sweet.
Paul
PPHM stock does not move meaningfully up when its revenues increase dramatically. PPHM stock does not go up on what appears to be good Phase II data. So, unless something really big happens to expand the current pool of PPHM stock buyers, we will have a reverse split. I don't like it, but there it is.
However, I still will hold the stock. If it tanks after the RS, I will probably add to my position. It looks like the only way we will make real money any time soon in PPHM is if it is bought. Otherwise, it will be a very tough slog for PPHM to get Bavi through Phase III and thence to market. I believe this will make PPHM longs a lot of money, but it will take more than two years.
Sigh,
Paul
Actually, I did not find the item from PPHM's financials that significant. I only posted a reference to it to see how it would be received. Now I know.
Thanks,
Paul
It was interesting to note that the cash used in operations decreased from $20 million to $10 million from fiscal 2008 to 2009. If PPHM managed a similar decrease in fiscal 2010 it would have effectively reduced this balance to zero.
Paul
Is there a standard method to value a company like PPHM?
Try http://investopedia.com/articles/stocks/06/BiotechValuation.asp
After processing the numbers for PPHM, admittedly a difficult task, then we would be in a better position to assess the appropriateness of the poison pill.
Paul
I can't believe that the majority of posters on a board like this are here to bad mouth PPHM, its management, its prospects. However, seeing is believing.
When, not if, PPHM breaks through to a successful conclusion, it will be especially sweet thanks to the PPHM critics. So, let them continue with their RS drum beat and their management bashing. Bavi is looking good and and Avid is smoking.
Paul
I want to add my thanks for pointing out the segment after King's interview. It's clear that we are not the only people who think PPHM is way, way undervalued.
Paul
Four Phase II trials with interim positive results.
$44 million dollar government contract reducing the burn rate.
Continued support from the NIAID.
Rapidly growing AVID contract mabufacturing revenues.
Initial partnering deal announced.
I've been here a while, and it has never been any where near this good.
I'm loving it.
Paul
Can we just get back to talking about a RS? Why should we waste any more time discussing meaningful anti-PS recognition?
Today's news can only be a strong positive for PPHM.
Paul
Let's all talk about a possible reverse split. It's far more interesting than a likely billion dollar anti-cancer, anti-viral PPHM. Why would anyone want to focus on a major new cancer/viral treatment and the attendant rewards, when we can focus a reverse split.
I don't care if there is a 100 for 1 split, if the market price for PPHM goes over $2 billion.
Paul
Peregrine has been very quiet lately. It must be about time for some news. I love how the pessimist-detractors clam up for a few days after every good news item. I hope Peregrine will give them another vacation soon.
Best to all PPHM investors,
Paul
Well said, Geo. Posters whose only contribution is to point out the cloud around every silver lining provide little worth reading. The repetitive nature of their posting is annoying, and therefore I never actually read them anymore.
What is crystal clear is that PPHM is a happening company. We don't really know why it is happening now, but it is.
Let's hope the damn breaks soon and the "cloudy" posters are washed away to some other venue.
Paul
What is going on here?! I love it, but I think I'd love it more if I knew what was going on. Minor news events trigger millions of shares changing hand with the PPS moving strongly up. We have not seen anything like this in years.
Let's hope it keeps going.
Paul
Is there a 10% of ownership threshhold that triggers some kind of reporting requirement? If so, maybe that's why the volume is on the order of 10% of the outstanding shares.
Reactions?
Paul
Is there any way to tell if we have single entity buying up a big chunk of PPHM? Is there any way to identify such an entity?
In the words of another PPHM investor, Giddyup!
Paul
Geo, this would be a wonderful development. They only downside would be having to determine whether and how much to sell.
Paul
Rituximab and brain eating virus. Yikes.

BOT, haven't heard from you in a while. Any new impressions to share with us long suffering longs?
Best to you,
Paul
As a long term owner of PPHM, I have seen the peaks and valleys. I am fully aware that this is a highly speculative venture subject to many unpredictable forces, good and ill. However, I want to say I enjoy the so called Pumpers. I find their optimism entertaining and harmless.
Those who excoriate the Pumpers bore me to tears. I promise never to read or respond them again. They know who they are.
Paul
Calling on the technical analysts. What does your arcane wisdom say regarding this recent PPS movement?
Thanks,
Paul
Tipping point. Assuming a 'happy ending' for PPHM, what will be the tipping point? What will confirm that Bavi is the MAB of our dreams?
Alternatively, what would tell us that PPHM will not make us longs the vast piles of money we so richly deserve?
Paul
Does anyone get the sense that this is a significant independent confirmation of the potential value of PPHM's anti-PS platform?
It looks like it to me.
Paul
The odds continue to move in favor of a successful outcome for PPHM.
1. Avid and the DTRA help prop up the finances.
2. The trials continue to show strong efficacy and continuing safety.
3. The laboratory research is firming up the science underpinning PPHM's anti-PS mabs method of operation.
4. The preclinical pipeline is growing with fully human anti-PS mabs.
Are we there yet? No, we haven't partnered or been acquired. Are we getting closer? It sure looks like it. Doesn't it?
Paul
The pattern seen in the breast cancer trial is appearing in the lung cancer trial- a good initial response and an even better response with additional treatment. This is very, very encouraging. The trial size is small, but this confirmation of the Georgia trial is exaxtly what we needed to see.
Bravo Bavi.
Paul
Lafont, I think you will find that none of the participants in these Phase II trials is receiving a placebo.
Paul
Have any of you had an luck finding any postings on the Internet by patients or doctors who are using or have used Bavituximab? You would think by now that someone with direct experience of the drug would have expressed an opinion by now, good or bad.
Paul
Response from PPHM IR.
The lawsuit against CTL & Medipharm is ongoing as is stated in Peregrine’s SEC filings. Peregrine recently dismissed its claims against Dr. Epstein as an individual as certain conditions relating to Peregrine’s claims against him were recently met.
Paul
The recently approved PPHM patent was submitted in 2003. If we sometimes feel the clinical trials are running slowly, at least they are moving faster than the patent office. Good thing PPHM gave the PO a head start.
Paul
No news, no trading. Everyone who cares is just waiting to see which way to jump. Let's hope people in Georgia and India are feeling better with Bavi in their veins.
Paul
Like most long term PPHM investors, I like to think PPHM is potentially worth a whole lot more than .40 a share. My question conerns our poison pill - does it provide adequate protection for shareholders? Any opinions?
Geocappy1, did you notice how much emphasis Lytle placed on the HIV research? He seemed to make a strong claim that the anti-PS approach is assuming a very strong position with the researchers and that PPHM is at the heart of it all.
Extraordinarily claims call for extraordinary proof; I hope we see some soon.
Paul
I found it encouraging that PPHM's lender has lit a fire under them to raise more equity capital before they'll release the next $5 million. I hope this additional kick in the pants coupled with some continuing good clinical results will propel management to the kind of partnering deal that will get PPHM out of the intensive care unit for good and all.
Kudos to management on the DTRA, Avid and clinical trials fronts. They really have made stellar progress over the last two years. Now let's see if they can make us some money.
Paul
If a reader can't tell your posts from those edifying missives from Realist and Clearwater, don't be suprised if people think you are a care carrying member of their flock.
Paul
I'm serious because this market has taken the PPS down despite the very promising trial results. It's hard to imagine a bidding war among BPs when there is no war on the NASDAQ.
I have held this stock for years and I would love to see it make me a lot of money. Maybe you're right and we will see a BP bidding war. I guess I'll believe it when I see it.
Paul
Why would a BP partner with an underfinanced company like PPHM with a potential blockbuster product/product line? Why trust such a company to run a Phase III trial? While we all want this thing to go to $10 a share, how could we turn down a $2 a share buyout for our $.32 stock. I'm sure they could find a way to circumvent the poison pill. So, for $400 million they could have the whole thing.
So, if the Phase II results hold up or improve, PPHM will be swallowed up before Thanksgiving.
All IM very HO,
Paul
Good bye, Jessme. How could anyone who reads this board possibly find anything you have to say of interest? This is a rhetorical question, which means that no reply is expected or, more to the point, wanted.
