You will love the Diamante.
I use a Volcano some times and smoke sometimes. I like the flavor of terpenes in smoking. I like the flavor of the terpenes even better using the Volcano. Burnt plant matter...doesn't help the terpene flavor. Burnt plant matter doesn't help your lungs.
I haven't been impressed with cannabis vape cartridges....because the terpenes are stripped out and you just end up with cannabis oil flavor. Most vapes taste similar....and they don't taste like terpenes. I like the quick buzz without reeking up the area I'm in...and the convenience of Vaping cannabis oils at 70% THC levels. The Volcano gives a much better terpene flavor than Vape pens.
Diamante...is vaping....on a whole different level. Wow...you actually taste the terpenes...before you are done with your first hit. When you start feeling the buzz and tasting the terps...before you are done with your hit....you know you are on to something different...and good.
If I had Diamante Vape pens...I would probably not smoke again. That is by far the best way I have ever consumed cannabis. Edibles are efficient...but you don't get to taste the flavor of the terpenes. Diamante is made out of the best cannabis we produce. Frozen immediately at harvest.....extracted to 99%. Before I only liked vaping from Vape pens for the convenience. Now with the Diamante Live Resin Vape pens....you get the best experience....the best buzz...the best flavor...and the best convenience. It changed my mind on Vape pens.
Definitely try the Diamante.
Some people have goofy theories about there not being Diamante available. Those theories are just goofy. The hold up was getting the packaging back from the packaging manufacturers. The sky is not falling as some may proclaim.....it takes a little more time to do it right...and simple delays...out of your control...is usually the reason.

Gardens of We Eden....Review
The strains of Gardens of We Eden I sampled were...Tangerine...Meat Breath...and Garlic Mint.
Tangerine
Found it to be very enjoyable....both in the pleasant smell and the uplifting buzz. The smell was clearly Tangerine and citrusy. The type of cannabis you just love inhaling the smell...before it is light. Tangerine was a good strain choice for sightseeing in Vegas and all the walking you have to do. No couch lock with Tangerine.
As I noted earlier....CGOTF...is...NOT .late on financials.

Nice try at installing panic. You did forget to mention something very important. Citation is not late on financials.....where do you get this from...? The CSA site is not interested in Citation...as we are not late....on financials or MD&A. You forgot to mention how long of a delay there is between the time required to file...and the issuance of a CTO.....if the financials were actually delinquent....which they are not.
You forgot to mention the amount of time Citation has before....being considered delinquent.
You also forgot to mention that Citation's fiscal year ends in March 2020. So....how much time does that leave in your best guess....?
There does seem to be a significant amount of misleading information provided by laymen.....thought I would clear that up.

Pahrump revenue...should be...$962,000 per month now.
275,000 grams...at...$3.50 per gram...is $962,000 per month....before expansion......and without Vegas revenue.
We should currently be over a million a month revenue in Nevada...without extracts/concentrates....if my math is correct.
Your guess next Q of $4 million should be real close. I said $3 million...but yours is probably the closest. I think Diamante will do real well....and add to the flower revenues so far.
Pahrump is twice the size of the Apex facilities. Ultimately Nevada revenues should be $1.5 million...before extractions. That should put us ultimately at around $2 million a month from Nevada...before expansions....once extractions are fully integrated into the revenue stream.

Howard said they are getting very good prices.
But he does want dispensaries...to get the maximum profit from Nevada.
The difference being $3200-$3800 per pound...vs...$8,000 per pound...through our own dispensary.
Building another cultivation building....is not the best use of capital....when you need a dispensary. Someone tell Izbizz....there is math....involved in all this.
According to my math....getting a dispensary....will help the bottom line and profits....far more than any number of cultivation buildings that could be built. No matter how many cultivation buildings are built...you are selling at $3200-3800 per pound...regardless of how much you cultivate. Having a dispensary would produce twice the revenue...with the same amount of cultivation space. Putting a dispensary into the equation....will produce more revenue and profits faster than putting another cultivation facility into the equation...at half the potential revenue. Howard is working on a plan for a dispensary.
Howard is much smarter than the non math types give him credit for. Howard has been in the cannabis industry for 16 years...he was operating ACC revenue positive. Let the bullsh*t talkers do their talk...with no math...no proof...and no experience in the industry.....vs...Howard's 16 years of experience in cannabis.
Isbizz likes to hear himself complain...but doesn't like looking at the numbers...to what makes the best business decisions....financially. As Canopy has found out....what sounds good in a press release....could actually cause billions of dollars of loss. The math....needs to work out. Canopy's math didn't work out....near as well as the press releases...touting how fast they were expanding (sinking).
The Pahrump facility may get double certification...but triple may not work out in Pahrump. It's not near as easy to get certification...as some would like us to believe. Much less triple certification. In order to get triple certification....the facility would be down for most of a year...getting rebuilt...new equipment...with new procedures etc. Shutting down working crops and losing all the production time and restart of production time...didn't seem worth the effort and loss going form double certified organic to triple certified organic. We are currently operating organic and waiting on certifications....without a production shutdown....in Pahrump.
That seems like the wise decision to me also. Pahrump is all cultivation and no production. Revenue from double certified organic...would be much better than a year of lost production ($8 million)....just to get the revenue difference...between double and triple certification.

Can't remember if I asked that or not...there were so many questions we asked...I can't even remember them all.
I didn't go out there to get stoned with management. As a matter of fact....the time meeting Howard and touring our facilities....was the only time I wasn't buzzed in Vegas. That meeting was about business...not partying with management. But I still couldn't remember exact wording of everything discussed through out the long day.
They are checking out all their non dilutive financing options. He doesn't want to give control of the company to another company...if there is a way to raise money without it. Especially with the share prices of companies in the industry being down so much. He did mention a couple deals where other companies wanted to take advantage...and he told them to...take a hike. He gave me the impression he would rather go it alone than give up the farm on a bad deal. Howard has $8 million dollars invested and wants Citation to succeed...as much...if not more...than anyone. I don't have that much invested...but we are on the same page. He has been in the cannabis industry since 2003...and is building the foundation for a successful...top notch cannabis company.
I did not ask who our equity partner is...because I'm sure he couldn't answer that. He did mention different investor groups that have interest......but he wants deals to benefit Citation...not insiders. I believe he is a shrewd enough businessman to get it.

I'm not a trader...not my concern.

Citation Growth.....FIORE Review.
First the FIORE Gold.
It was labeled at around 25% THC. It was smooth smoking...and I could not taste any of the chemicals found in other Vegas weed. It put on a good strong buzz. It had an excellent taste and smell. There was a strong fresh smell...as soon as the glass preroll tube was opened.
FIORE Gold put on a strong buzz that lasted a long time....there was no need to top off the buzz...it stayed with you.
Now the Dos FIORE.
It was labeled at 24.75 % THC.
The terpenes were listed as...
Caryophyllene 2.3 mg/g.
Limonene 11.51 mg/g
Linalool 5.08 mg/g
Harvest date 8/14/19
Test date 9/22/19
Pkg date 10/22/19
Use by 9/22/20
Dos FIORE was good smoking...not harsh at all. The Limonene gave it a very lemony...citrus smell. There was another terpene giving it a sweet taste/smell. The buzz was very strong...possibly stronger than the Gold....or I smoked more of the Dos FIORE preroll.
I tried to be as scientific as possible...to keep the strain differences seperate. I tried a different strain each day after breakfast....to start each day with a fresh attitude.
I /we...never needed to finish a whole FIORE preroll in one sitting.
I liked the flavors...and the freshness of both FIORE strains I tried.
And I saved the best for last....Diamante Vape Pen.
The first thing I noticed....was....it didn't taste nothing like the cannabis vape pens I have tried in the past. There is usually the standard..cannabis oil flavor....which has the terpenes stripped out of it. That is NOT the case with Diamante. You immediately notice a clean flavor....and the terpenes are instantly discernible in the first hit. There is also an instant head buzz....that becomes apparent about the same time you are noticing the terpene flavors. For those that have ever used a Volcano vaporizer....the experience is similar....all the flavorful terpenes are there....and NONE...of the burnt plant matter flavor...associated with smoking cannabis. The sensation is similar to vaping with the Volcano...but there was a stronger...cleaner flavor of the terpenes....and a much stronger buzz.
By far...without question...the best cannabis vape I have ever used. I believe he (the extraction wizard at Citation) said the THC level was around 99%. The most enjoyable part...was the true flavor of the terpene profiles in every hit. I miss my Diamante Vape pen already. Simple...and extremely effective....and enjoyable as it gets. There is a difference...in triple certified organic cannabis. There is simply no comparison...between your standard cannabis Vape pen...and Diamante. Think of your best Volcano experience....on steroids....with modern day convenience....of Vape pens. The Diamante pens were quality made...worked flawlessly...throughout the cycles until empty. They also had a diamond shaped light in the end...that LIHT up when taking a hit. That upped the cool factor and the quality factor.
The only bad thing about the Diamante....was laying it down....while trying all the other strains.
FIORE....Triple Certified Organic.......quality.....you can taste........quality you can feel.........quality you can trust.

I'm back home from Vegas. It was a great trip....for the most part....except for the interaction with Bellagio security...falsely accusing us of shoplifting a water and Monster energy drink...we had been carrying around Vegas for hours....now banned for life...then threatened with trespassing and dragging Las Vegas PD into it....when we agreed to see alleged shoplifting video. Bellagio security threatened us with trespassing and arrest...after proving we were innocent...just to save face from their errors.......shaky bullsh*t. I would never visit Bellagio again....I don't take false accusations lightly. I am checking into the ramifications of a lawsuit.
My only other complaint was...after arriving in Vegas Tuesday night I wanted to visit a dispensary to sample some Citation Growth product. After a twenty dollar cab ride to Essence Dispensary...they didn't have any FIORE. I settled for two prerolls from a competitor. Very disappointed....the first preroll we smoked was dried out and very harsh...and obviously stale. I checked the date on the preroll container.....it expired on Nov 4 2019. Bullsh*t....I don't like to be sold expired products....from anyone...dried out harsh weed is nearly as bad as drinking chunky milk. No excuse for that. That is very poor business on Essence's part. After a twenty dollar cab ride back to the hote.....that's forty dollars in cab fare for two outdated prerolls. Essence Dispensary....will be hearing from me. First job of a bud tender should be making sure you get good product...that is a failure on Essence's part.
Was a great trip otherwise.

Shine On You Crazy Diamante.
Easy on the taxes.
I agree....excessive taxes can kill the golden goose. California had enough greedy politicians taking a slice of the pie....that it just helped the black market. All expectations were disappointing.....some taxes were reduced. Between federal, state, county and local govt's. all wanting a slice of revenue from taxes and application fees etc.....that keeps the black market thriving.
Some states have crippled the black market by allowing excessive amounts of cultivators to flood the market and bring the price down to black market levels...with far superior and state tested products. That leaves very little margins for the producers.
A low federal tax rate is what would be best for the industry. The industry is being squeezed federally by not being allowed to take deductions for tax purposes...with the IRS gouging cannabis companies....to ridiculous tax rates. Companies have a hard time becoming profitable without proper tax deductions...and are forced to compete unfairly.
We shall soon see...if it passes.

Nevada....Pot and Public Servants.
https://thenevadaindependent.com/article/the-cannabis-files-pot-and-public-servants
Nevada’s system of regulating marijuana was born in the halls of the Legislature. So perhaps it isn’t surprising that many who wander those halls, sit through hours of hearings to develop a regulatory structure and stay current on the latest twists and turns of cannabis law wind up involved in the industry themselves.
Records released through SB32 this spring reveal a number of former lawmakers and lobbyists on the list of owners and board members of marijuana companies. Among them are two who reached speaker, the highest post in the Assembly, but had become lobbyists by the time the Legislature authorized dispensaries.
“The experience that former elected officials, former lawmakers, former bureaucrats have with state agencies and how they operate, I think is helpful in advising and moving things forward in a way that is actually appropriate for our state,” said Democratic former Assembly Speaker Richard Perkins, who served in the Legislature from 1992 to 2006.
Nevada shifted from having the Department of Health and Human Services oversee dispensaries to the Department of Taxation in 2017. Understanding the differences between those two agencies was an important skill, he said.
John Oceguera, also a former speaker who left the Legislature after the 2011 session, is a board member with Las Vegas Wellness and Compassion LLC and represented 11 different cannabis companies in the 2019 legislative session. He said he thinks the company sought him out as a board member because of his knowledge in the regulatory arena and his public safety background as a firefighter.
There are also former mayors and council members whose skill sets could be helpful in navigating local government approvals. Municipalities have the power to enact moratoriums and approve local permits for individual businesses, so the fate of a business can sometimes hang on how well its leaders navigate local government politics and processes.
“You want people on your team to help you in the guidance through the rough water, and cannabis is a rough industry,” said Rebecca Gasca, a lobbyist and owner with Wendovera LLC. “So you want to rely on people who know how to get you where you want to go. They have the compass. They’re the compass holders. You’re the boat. And you trust them. And it makes sense because you haven’t been in their shoes.”
Also on the list are at least three people with intimate knowledge of marijuana regulation — one is Deonne Contine, who until February 2018 headed the Department of Taxation that oversees marijuana businesses. Although she is listed as a board member for Sierra Well, she says she was never a bonafide board member and was listed as a potential secretary while working as a private sector lawyer on Sierra Well’s unsuccessful applications for five dispensary licenses in 2018.
Reporting from the Nevada Current suggests there may have been a lapse in communication about Contine’s status that resulted in her name still being on a list that says it’s current through Aug. 1, 2019. She says that had the company won a dispensary license, it would still need to update its records and confirm bona fide board members.
Critics have questioned the propriety of Contine being involved in the industry at all because of her close ties to the regulation-development process. But Contine, who served as head of the Department of Administration in Gov. Steve Sisolak’s cabinet until her abrupt resignation last week, insists that she’s not running afoul of ethics law that calls for a “cooling-off” period for former public employees.
“No. I was working as a lawyer in the private sector and was thinking about issues that were active at the department (in any area) and if there were any conflicts related to my private sector legal work,” she said in an email to The Nevada Independent.
She added that she is no longer interested in working in the private sector and hopes to someday return to the public sector.
“I have spent much of my life dedicated to public service and ultimately realized rather quickly after working as a lawyer in the private sector for a few months that I am more suited to making sure systems and processes run smoothly and my heart is in public service and policy,” she said.
Below are some notable names in the political realm who are leaders in the cannabis industry.

Several former state legislators have a stake in the industry, including David Goldwater, an owner at Inyo Fine Cannabis Dispensary LLC. He is a former Democratic member of the Assembly and now a lobbyist.
Former Assemblywoman Lucy Flores, a Democrat who ran an unsuccessful bid for Congress in 2016, is a board member at GreenMart of Nevada.
Then there’s Sandra Tiffany, an owner at GWGA LLC and a former Republican state senator who served 14 years in the Legislature. She’s a businesswoman who established a nuclear medicine image processing company and worked at a large computer-aided design and engineering firm.
One-term Republican Assembly member Scott Sibley, an owner at Nevada Holistic Medicine LLC, is a real estate broker and a reporter with Nevada Legal News, a subscription-based website that publishes news stories, public notices and other public records.
Mark James is an owner with LVMC C&P LLC and LVMC LLC. He served in the Legislature from 1992 to 2002, and on the Clark County Commission from 2003 to 2007. In 1995, James wrote Nevada’s “Truth in Sentencing Law,” reducing the possibility that prisoners could get early release. He also authored Nevada’s “Megan’s Law” to notify the community when a sex offender has been released from prison. His time as CEO of Frias cab company was marked by a contentious breach of contract lawsuit. He is now is CEO of Integrity Vehicle Solutions, which developed the Ride Genie app that allows passengers to hail cabs.
Former Assemblyman Chad Christensen, a Republican who served from 2002 to 2010 and ran an unsuccessful bid for U.S. Senate in 2010, is an owner with Fidelis Holdings. He told the Las Vegas Review-Journal in 2014 that although he is a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which opposes the use of marijuana except for medicinal use, he became a supporter of medical marijuana after seeing his wife’s friend suffer from using prescription painkillers.
Josh Griffin, a former owner with Livfree Wellness LLC who has since left the industry, served as a Republican member of the Assembly in 2003 and is a lobbyist whose clients in the 2019 session included the City of Reno, City of Elko and casino companies MGM Resorts and Eldorado Resorts (casino companies are strictly prohibited from involvement in the marijuana industry). He is the son of Jeff Griffin, who served as Reno’s mayor for eight years.
High-ranking legislative leaders on the rolls include Oceguera, a former owner at Exhale Brands Nevada II LLC and current board member at Las Vegas Wellness and Compassion LLC. He is a lobbyist and the former speaker of the Assembly who ran unsuccessful bids for Congress in 2012 and 2016.
And then there is Perkins, an owner at Nevada Holistic Medicine LLC and Nevada Natural Medicines LLC and the former Speaker of the Assembly. He worked as a police officer starting in 1984 before becoming chief of police in Henderson and retiring in 2008. He is now president and chief lobbyist for The Perkins Company, a firm whose clients include Newmont Mining and the City of Henderson.
Perkins said he’s long supported medicinal marijuana after his stepson battled cancer in the early 1990s. But coming around to support recreational marijuana was a longer evolution. After conversations with narcotics officers, he has come to believe that marijuana is not a gateway drug when it’s brought out of the shadows and isn’t only available through criminal activity.
Family members of political figures include Ross Goodman, an owner with Paradise Wellness Center LLC. He is a criminal defense attorney and the son of Las Vegas Mayor Carolyn Goodman and former Mayor Oscar Goodman.
Mayor Carolyn Goodman has been known to abstain from marijuana-related policy discussions, such as a debate about cannabis consumption lounges in the city, because of her son’s involvement.

On the other end of the state, Catherine Cashell-Mannikko, daughter of former lieutenant governor and Reno Mayor Bob Cashell, is an owner at Livfree Wellness. She told the Reno Gazette-Journal she got into the business because medical cannabis has helped her daughters, and as an investment opportunity.
John Griffin is a former owner at Livfree Wellness LLC who said in 2014 that his father had relied on medical marijuana to alleviate the symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. Griffin is a lobbyist whose clients include casino companies.
Lori Rogich, a Las Vegas-based attorney, is a former officer with Deep Roots Medical LLC. She is married to Sig Rogich, a Republican political consultant, the founder of prominent advertising and lobbying firm R&R Partners, and a former U.S. ambassador to his native Iceland.
In 2014, the revelation that Sig Rogich was a minority owner in a marijuana company was one of the most surprising that came out of a license application period in Clark County. Rogich was a senior White House adviser to President George H.W. Bush from 1989 to 1992 and also advised President Ronald Reagan, who in 1980 said marijuana “is probably the most dangerous drug in the United States.”
“It was 30 years ago, a lot has changed,” Sig Rogich said in 2014.
Former local government figures include Larry Scheffler, an owner at MM Development Company Inc. He is a former councilman for Henderson who founded the commercial printing company Las Vegas Color Graphics, Inc. in 1978. He also has served as a commissioner on six major commissions in Southern Nevada government.
His business partner Robert Groesbeck, an owner at MM Development Company Inc, served as the mayor for the City of Henderson from 1993 to 1997. He has practiced law for more than 25 years.

Lobbyists who have a stake in the industry include John Sande III, an owner at Nuleaf. He’s an attorney at the firm Fennemore Craig, and previously was chairman of First Independent Bank of Nevada. He played football for four years at Stanford.
Legislative observers may remember Rebecca Gasca for her past work as a lobbyist for the ACLU of Nevada. She is now CEO at the lobbying firm Pistil + Stigma, which helps businesses navigate the cannabis regulatory process, and is an owner at Wendovera LLC.
Other lobbyists include Tia Dietz, who works with government affairs firm The Griffin Company and was a registered lobbyist in 2017, and Piper Overstreet-White, who was lobbyist for Uber in 2018. Both are board members at Livfree Wellness.
Amy Ayoub, an officer with Deep Roots Medical LLC, is a former political fundraiser and public speaking coach.
Two lobbyists for Barrick Gold are part owners of a marijuana company. Judith “Be-Be” Adams is an owner with HSH Lyon LLC (High Sierra Holistics), as is Sean Gamble, who also lobbies for a coalition of Boys and Girls Clubs.
Serial participants on state boards round out some of the ownership. Luther Mack, an owner at Nevada Wellness Center LLC, was a longtime operator of McDonald’s and Popeyes franchises. Previously, he held positions in several state government agencies, served on the Nevada State Athletic Commission for 13 years, served as the chair of the University of Nevada, Reno Foundation and on the board of Boyd Gaming.
He said he got into the marijuana world as a business opportunity, but also appreciated the benefits he found when using CBD cream for muscle soreness after workouts, and finds many former athletes are customers at his business.
Tisha Black, a Republican who ran unsuccessfully in 2018 for the Clark County Commission seat held by Justin Jones, is a board member at Clear River LLC. She is a lawyer in Las Vegas, and the founding partner at the Black & Lobello law firm. After years of involvement in the state’s medical marijuana program, developing regulations and helping companies file applications for their marijuana business licenses, she took the helm as president of the Nevada Dispensary Association in 2019.
Former state employees who are now involved in the industry include Chad Westom, a board member at Forever Green LLC who was previously the bureau chief of the Nevada Division of Public and Behavioral Health until October 2017, according to his LinkedIn profile. As such, he oversaw the state’s medical marijuana program before it was transferred to the Department of Taxation.
On the website for his company, Westom touts that experience to potential clients, saying “built Nevada’s first-ever marijuana regulatory structure from 2013 through 2017, and oversaw the licensing and opening of all of Nevada’s marijuana establishments.”
Lisa Vick, who works as a compliance officer and board member at Clark Natural Medicinal Solutions, notes on her LinkedIn profile that she was an auditor with the Nevada Department of Taxation until February 2018. In that job, she said she would “audit all inventory and procedures for Dispensaries, production, cultivation, and laboratories for medical and recreational marijuana in the State of Nevada.”

Canadian LP's...Lose 18% in October.......CGOTF...UP 90%.
I have a plan.
Worth reposting for new eyes.
I have to agree.
I think ACB...is far better than Canopy.
Wall Street is beating up the majors right now. Canopy is losing more than the entire Canadian industry combined. Not only did Canopy sink like a rock...but it brought Acreage and Constellation down too....and of course dragged the whole industry down with it. ACB took a big hit now with the latest earnings....but they are far closer to profitability than Canopy.
What would happen if CGOTF could come out with better earnings than the majors...better earnings than the mid size players....with close to positive revenues...? Better earnings than most of the industry...could light a FIORE that won't go out soon.
Investors want to hear a good story...without the losses. This would be a real good time for CGOTF...to impress. Having a whole industry full of disappointed cannabis investors....now is the time for a company like Citation....to set itself apart from the others.
Citation's business model is different...and starting to prove itself. Good earnings could start a run.
With record earnings expected...that could validate the business model.
As everyone knows...I still think there could be some kind of deal with ACB and/or AUSA . While the market has knocked all three companies down hard....it changes the dynamics of any intended or planned deals because of the large market cap swings that has taken place in the last six months.
IF......there was any intent on Aurora's part before....this down turn has certainly had an effect. Any intended deals would have to be recalculated to reflect new market caps. In other words...this market could slow down potential deals with potential partners.
AUSA was supposed to be making a couple $20-200 million dollar deals this year...I speculated one could be us. I haven't seen any more deals from AUSA...and the stock has fallen hard.
Cannabis deals may slow a bit because of the large amount of market cap lost by most of the industry.
I still think ACB is a long term winner. But CGOTF will be profitable...before ACB. IMHO.

Vote To Federally Legalize Marijuana Planned In Congress
https://www.forbes.com/sites/tomangell/2019/11/16/vote-to-federally-legalize-marijuana-planned-in-congress/#6ed77648201b
A key congressional committee plans to hold a historic vote on a bill to end the federal prohibition of marijuana next week, two sources with knowledge of the soon-to-be-announced action said.
US-POLITICS-CANNABIS
The legislation, sponsored by House Judiciary Committee Chairman Jerrold Nadler (D-NY) would remove cannabis from the Controlled Substances Act and set aside funding to begin repairing the damage of the war on drugs, which has been disproportionately waged against communities of color.
Those programs—such as job training and legal aid for people impacted by prohibition enforcement, loans for small marijuana businesses owned and controlled by socially and economically disadvantaged individuals and efforts to minimize barriers to licensing and employment in the legal industry—would be paid for with a new federal five percent tax on cannabis sales instituted under the bill.
The proposal, the Marijuana Opportunity Reinvestment and Expungement (MORE) Act, would also block federal agencies from using “past or present cannabis or marijuana use as criteria for granting, denying, or rescinding a security clearance.”
It currently has 55 cosponsors, all but one of whom are Democrats.
A Senate companion is being led by Sen. Kamala Harris (D-CA), a 2020 presidential candidate, though it has not yet been scheduled for action in the GOP-controlled chamber.
Wednesday’s planned Judiciary Committee vote on the far-reaching cannabis reform legislation—which hasn’t yet been officially listed but is expected to be announced on Monday—comes about two months after the full House overwhelmingly approved a bipartisan bill to increase marijuana businesses’ access to banks.
Politico reported on Saturday that Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA), who is not a member of the panel, vaguely mentioned upcoming committee consideration while speaking at a conference, though she didn’t clarify that the legislation would be formally “marked up,” or voted on, a detail that sources shared with Marijuana Moment in recent days.
The planned action follows a hearing a panel subcommittee held in July that examined the connection between marijuana legalization and racial justice.
The markup will provide the opportunity for lawmakers on both sides of the aisle to file amendments to the bill, and could shed further light on an emerging divide between cannabis reform supporters who feel it is essential to address past drug war harms and equity in the cannabis industry immediately and those who believe it makes more sense to advance more limited, states’ rights-focused legislation that could stand a better chance of advancing through the Senate and to President Trump’s desk.
Those tensions surfaced both during the Judiciary hearing this summer as well as in the lead up to the House floor vote on the cannabis banking legislation. Some pro-legalization groups went so far as to ask leadership to delay the scheduled vote on the financial services bill because they took issue with what is seen as an industry-focused proposal moving ahead of one containing restorative justice provisions such as the MORE Act.
In response to those concerns, top Democrats such as Nadler and House Minority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) pledged that while they were moving ahead with the banking vote, they also saw the importance of following up by advancing cannabis legislation with a racial justice focus.
The upcoming vote on the MORE Act indicates that House leadership plans to follow through on that pledge.
